NBA Live 18 News Post

Some of the more popular YouTubers were invited to attend a private NBA Live 18 party and posted some quick videos. For the most part, they are video blogs on their experience at the event, along with a few glimpses of action.

We will probably see a few more trickle in throughout the week, so keep your eyes open, as we wait for more announcements leading up to EA Play in June.

The fact that the footage is being "leaked" by $PAID$ YouTubers is a bad sign.

I'll hold my judgment until it's out.

It's definitely getting more love than last time and I think it looks pretty nice. There are definitely signature moves that make me happy. The kids are too used to what 2k looks like that they can't accept an alternative

Do they want the bodies to look the same? I'm pretty sure there was a massive argument about what the competitor did for the last few years

2k has done a lot of the same for the last 3 years (overall gameplay, bar certain areas), and I don't see how people can be overly satisfied except for the the fact that it's been a constant to purchase

Thank you

Of course, it's just an opinion and regular people need to play before we find out, but the post play needed a big improvement and it's good to see it was addressed (apparently)

Very cool. Need more. Lol

Would say go the NBA Jam route but that's taken now. Was not impressed at all

Live is getting hate because they have been wetting the bed for some time now. When Live was at the top of it's game, the standards for a hoops title were not as demanding. Look good, animate well, and be fun were really the only main areas to nail. People now expect: Teams to play exactly like their real life counterparts; Players to look exactly like their counterparts; Players to shoot, dribble, etc. just like their counterparts; Provide a plethora of game options/modes. It's somewhat unfair to live but they put themselves in the position to have to blow people away to get some respect..

2k17 had many annoying issues this year which I won't break down here, but I will say this is the 1st time since 2k10 I won't be dropping pre-order money down for 2k's title..

I guess we all see things different here. Perhaps the animations are clunky, i choose to overlook it to enjoy the other aspects i love about NBA Live. In 2017, i feel like society excepts nothing less than perfection. No shortcomings. That's simply not realistic nor possible. I've yet to meet a single human being with no flaws, or holes in their character, so to speak.

We will see more soon. This didn't show us much, mostly the fact that signature animations are a focus this year. And it's about damn time, lol.

The last part of your statement is where they truly lacked, even with 16 boasting in some areas like tatts an accessories. I feel confident they'll get that part right but and they've claimed there are more signature animations also but who knows until we get to play

All we can do is give positive feedback and pray EA Devs listen to our input.
This always gets mention (it's an old build) and when the game releases nothing has changed from the old build video to release day gameplay.

Go back and pull up every thread prior to Live releasing for the past 5-6 years and you'll find the same response "This must be a earlier build" by those who immediately try to defend the animations or player movement

You guys have to understand it's not a crime to let EA know ahead of the time their animations still look SUSPECT AT BEST.......

If you keep trying to justify the player movement they (EA) will keep delivering a bad game from a animation perspective

Their track is proven that the games just don't animate properly so we can't just sit around and say don't worry "It's just and old build"

That stuff doesn't fly anymore especially based on their history

Why don't any of them freeze frame on the parts that look awful?

I'll give Live 18 a chance, but the graphics/animations are bad and I don't trust any review that wouldn't point that out:

Fair play on the first image. I heard Agent 00 say the same thing aout Harden's jumpshot not being so hot, but what's to get annoyed about in the last two? Jordan has his tongue out and that look stupids if you pause the game

3rd photo looks horrible

but i'm not even sweating the graphics I've never had any issues with Live in that area.....

It's the player movement I wish they would just go all in on for once....

I know there's a lot of young bucks who get into sneakers, tat's and faces but I could live with decent graphics especially if the gameplay, animations and movement was top notch

EYE CANDY can only get you so far if the game moves like crap once again

The awful clunky jerky unrealistic spastic robotic movement is unacceptable in 2017 and one of the main reasons this game has cancellation and delay issues.

Nobody has to even bring up 2k. There are plenty of 60 dollar video games that perform this very well and you can't keep making excuses for a sports game that has failed multiple times if you expect anything to get better.

It has nothing to do with control either..what they don't need is any dishonest feedback because someone wants their game to be good.

i gave zero dishonest feedback. I gave my opinion. Tbh, yes the harden sequence looked a little hitchy while he was sizing up green. But it was clearly showcasing signature style, so that's a +.

The only video games I care to play are hoops games unless it's virtual reality. I'm solely a basketball junkie, no other sports intrigue me at all other than soccer.

I saw improvement here, 23. That's not a dishonest opinion my friend.

Exactly, these struggle Live apologists are starting to come out the woodworks. I cant believe we still have to talk about animations. That's been a Live issue going all the way back to PS2/Xbox days and its still freaking here. Live has been awful since 2007, here we are talking about that same ish 10 years later. 10 years of pure garbage from EA, with a fresh coat of paint.

# 74 fakeassc @ 05/25/17 01:31 AM
So from what I've seen from Live 18 (same as everybody else, just the screenies and short trailer), graphics are top-notch but animations are a bit creepy, like they don't look human, but instead look a bit uncanny valley.

Sorry I can't overlook bad player movement and animations in a sim sports game, if it ain't right I can't play the game for an extended amount of time.

As with any similar competing products, it has to at least match the basic functions of the product it is competing against, if not then it can't compete. NBA Live cannot reproduce a basic function of it's competition. I feel Madden would be in the same boat as NBA Live if 2K was still allowed to make NFL games, animations and movement is something EA Sports just doesn't do well, it's sad because it's a basic function of all sports.

I'm not calling you dishonest, I'm saying they can't afford more of that and we don't need to give them that about this game. None of us.

The thing you say you can ignore is the very thing that keeps the game at bay, and that's a problem on a LARGE scale.

Don't get me wrong, I did nothing but buy multiple basketball games when they came out before things started to dwindle, and I want this to be playable with longevity, but im not accepting mediocre basics either.

Im not rolling with yall folks who've been claiming foundation since Live 2007 and it never gets off the carpet.

I'll get to see for myself at EA play. I don't trust most Youtubers anyway because they wreck stuff real good, they'll pump up things for pay although agent00 is a cool kid.

The movement needs to be fixed badly. Once Live went south in that area they lost and haven't been able to get back up since.

Don't forget the 1st red flag that's being overlooked: no Frostbite. this is still the Ignite engine. They took 2 years off, and now the excuse will be they need another 3 years to fully implement it. Its the perfect string along tactic, that they've been doing to Live fans for years, since Elite.

Frostbite is nothing but a graphics engine anyway. Star wars gave been using it and that's about it.

They said ignite would be this big thing and turned out not to be

I just can't get behind the animations in EA sports games, look robotic/clunky and that net still animates oddly. Graphics look great and we'll see about gameplay but the animations are still eyesores.

# 80 FerdBrown @ 05/25/17 05:25 AM
Frostbite...

Ignite...

What are these and how will these affect my buying decision? Any examples of other sports titles using either of these?
