Madden NFL 17 News Post


Madden NFL 17 title update #10 is available now for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Check out the patch notes below.

Gameplay
  • Removed the ability to flick the R-Stick to pump fake when the player is outside of the pocket. Right Stick will now always throw ball away in these situations.
  • Fixed a legacy issue where defensive linemen would be called for encroachment when offense was using no huddle.
  • Addressed an issue where receivers would have the ball bounce off their arms when attempting RAC catches leading to drops or tip picks.
  • Fixed issue where QB’s could not match tackles after throwing an interception.
  • Fixed an issue where the user drop down banner was precluding player stat drop downs
  • Removed user drop down banners for user catch, finesse and power moves due to high frequency being distracting.
  • Fixed a bug where a safety banner would fire every time a pass was intercepted in the end zone.
  • Fixed a grieving tactic where offense could trigger infinite offsides penalties to extend the game.
  • Made some zone coverage adjustments to improve an issue where C Routes were overpowered when run on the wide side of the field with a TE on the line of scrimmage.
  • Increased frequency of broken tackles that can trigger from hit sticks. This will add more risk to going for hit stick tackles.
  • Fixed CPU punters kicking high into the wind, causing short punts.
  • Fixed a short delay that could rarely occur when attempting to snap the ball.
  • Fixed a variety of ‘players freezing’ issues when coming out of blocking interactions.
  • Tuned up fumble chances on ‘precision dive over top’ and increased the Tier requirements to perform the elite version of this mechanic.
  • Fixed an issue where free offensive linemen would not react to a nearby defender who just beat a block.
  • A variety of pass block targeting issues resolved.
  • Fixed several encroachment bugs that would result from aligning and sliding the defense in pre-play.
  • Addressed a rare issue where defenders could get into a state where they could not be blocked.
  • Fixed an issue where turning the pass accuracy slider to 0 would have very little impact in game.
  • Fixed a turbo blitz off the edge that was specific to players in a 4 point stance.
  • Addressed an issue where a DB in press coverage would not be able to defend a player locked user WR hot routed to a smoke screen
Stability
  • Tuned a variety of issues related to community feedback that lower rated offensive line was too effective against an elite defensive line. This change will also make elite OL more effective against lower rated D-line.
  • Addressed feedback that various online modes played at different game speeds. All online game speeds now consolidated to run at normal game speed.
  • Addressed an issue where a user in an online game could disconnect/concede and result in a crash for the opponent.
  • Addressed an issue where a timeout call on the pause menu could lead to camera settings being switched. This was also used as a grieving tactic to reset opponents camera.
  • Fixed an issue where user settings would be reset to defaults in a play a friend game. This includes the auto flip setting defaulting to on.
Franchise
  • Fixed CFM issue where user would receive an Invite Error Popup when trying to invite another user to a Franchise game.

There are tendicies that you will have completely different results in CFM vs Play Now.

The idea is to try out several games in CFM before making a judgement to see if the sliders you are using will work.

My other suggestion is take a look at the slider forum and you can choose from several different all pro sliders and see which ones will fit your style.

I'm getting great games with only a few slider adjustments.

I have CPU QB Acc at 15, Human at 25

CPU run blocking at 55, Human 65.

I'm seeing realistic rushing yards for both teams depending on the back.

Played with the Browns and Crowell had 63 yards rushing, which is solid for him coming in at just under 1000 for the year.

Played against Gurley last night and he had 55. For him, this year that's close to accurate.

Passing was interesting in a game I played last night. Goff was terrible. IIRC he was 12-28 with 179 yards and a TD and an INT. I guess those aren't horrid numbers, but in line with his stats this past year I think. Definitely seeing a difference with more and less skilled QB's. Goff threw multiple bad passes. And I'm not talking about the ones they throw away when hurried. He threw a corner route that was just overthrown. It was pretty cool to see. He also threw a check down route over the middle about 5 yards away from the Receiver.

As Drew Brees, I struggled a bit. Thew 2 INT and 2 TD. But low comp %. Might have to up human QB acc. to 20.

And another thing I saw, I called an outside run and Crowell was close to the first down marker and as he was about to get tackled he reached with the ball to try to get the 1st down. I've heard this happens, but was the first time I've seen it.

At the beginning of the year someone complained the game was unrealistic because the Panthers were losing to the Broncos in the first game of their CFM and that the Panthers should be crushing the Broncos in the video game. In real-life the Broncos did beat the Panthers that Thursday night to open the NFL season.

In my CFM I had no luck with Seattle, New England or Atlanta. I used one of the first rosters put out after the game launch (probably the second or third week after launch). Wilson did however win the MVP of the NFC, it just seemed his supporting cast wasn't as good as it could be. In my last game the 49ers also beat Seattle, albeit i gave San Fran a modified chip kelly playbook that had Kapernick run alot more where Wilson did not. Kapernick actually scrambled into the endzone for the game winner.

Well...I would counter this claim with a "did you know that the 49ers beat the Broncos pretty soundly in the regular season, also they darn near beat the Seahawks in the 2nd matchup. I think they lost by 1 or 2 points"

Point being...49ers weren't terrible by any stretch. Even though chip Kelly and baalk were terrible...the players were always in games sans falcons, bills, and pats. Crushing the Seahawks is totally believable...especially depending on the roster you were using. IE Thomas, and Avril out

Very true, didn't think of that. I quess what bugged me was kaepernick throwing for 400 yards. I'll keep trying. Thanks for the feedback guys. Love the forums and the game.

We didn't play the Broncos. We only beat the Rams (twice). But, you're right in that we did play the Seahawks tough in the regular-season finale, losing 25-23.

Edit: Kap did throw for 398 yards in a loss to the Saints, so 400 isn't impossible.

Theres gotta be another patch or a tuner update at least to fix the LT invisible player glitch and the massive slow down in skills trainer. Madden 16 got one a month before Madden 17 released. I dont think this was the last.

I believe this was the last LARGE patch, but other ones to fix issues such as that mentioned above will still be done.

Yeah Madden 18 news will start rolling in a month or 2. I'm really glad they upped their continued support for Madden in general. The only thing I'm holding out for are regression sliders. But if this is the last large one I would consider Madden 17 a success.

Crap, I was looking at preseason for some reason. LOL In any case, there was some games the 49ers were pretty competitive in were better play calling could have led to different outcomes which Madden doesnt account for poor coaching. Which brings me to a wish where maybe one day we can get coaching ratings VIA AWR.

Played about 5 games in CFM, offline, AP. Regarding the punting... Was noticing that the Wind arrow used to always point up/down.....now it is only side to side......Wonder if that is how they "fixed" or made punting a bit better than before. Anyone seen the wind arrow pointing top/bottom now? Curious if my sample size is just too small. TY!

For those asking about QBs running more after the 1.10 patch...

I just played against the Browns and Kessler took off on one play for 30+ yards and RGIII ran one in from 5 yards out for a TD after the pocket broke down.

Yup, just saw arrow that way at San Diego.

Is anyone finding defenders just stand there and don't react to anything?

I've had it happen to linebackers 3 times now in 3 games that I noticed. Just standing in the hole unblocked and having the back run right by him twice, and the 3rd was a TE catching a pass in the endzone, LB locked in man with good coverage but then stopped and watched the TE catch the TD without reacting at all (I know I should have usered)

all players involved had at least 80 awr and prc..

I've seen the deer in headlights LB's pre title update, but haven't seen that as much post title update.

Played a few Play Now games and I must say the game plays a thousand times better now, I actually got beat by the cpu on All Pro for the first time in many years. Wonder if this is how they are going to do every year, wait for the NFL season to be over to patch the game how sim players want it? They still didn't fix the user controlled defensive ends doing in place spin moves when pressing the finesse button but overall a great patch.
The areas that need the most attention is pass blocking/rushing, Qb pocket movement, and player movement in general is still an eye sore, hoping those will be addressed in 18, good job team Madden.

With the new patch in All Madden..CPU defense are like Flash. When you run...When I made the handoff LB or ENDs are here. In passing game I have space to make the reception and CB and LB enters in "turbo mode" to make a interception. In the other side my DB are stupids that only see how WR catch the ball. Try to deflect or intercept? What is this? Is like all defense was elite...Except yours..

The obvious choice would be to test it on All-Pro. It's the most balanced but may still need some small tweaks here or there.

I have player in All Madden always because I feel All Pro too easy. In my franchise I'm 3-4 now...But I'm the last in running game with 50 yards per game. I'm try to make adjustments with sliders but I'm a little bored...Because every time that you have all fine...new patch...gameplay changes...Lets go to start again...
