I've always wanted more realistic hits, just didn't know exactly what could be ddone about it.

If it wasnt a rope liner or a dribbler, hits were hard To come by. I'm excited for hooking/slicing balls down the line, and bloop singles. I play the show a lot, but I'm not good enough to be able to pitch on Hall of Fame difficulty and regularly give up 6 or less hits. Will add a completely new feel if you ask me.

The Arrieta sleeves are promising, as minuscule as it may seem right now. Just goes to show the level of research and implementation they are capable of.

As for Heywards new stance, it looks off from where it was last year. I know he has been re-tooling in Arizona all offseason, so maybe they noticed something I haven't.

All that being said, I'm going to buy this game and play the crap out of it, just like every year. Too much nit picking would make the GAME less enjoyable, but to each their own.

Who knows if that will happen with the PS5. I sold my PS4 OG for 280 on Ebay months before the announcement of the PS4 Pro so I got max cash even with the free. The upgrade was very much worth it to me.

I don't know a lot about tech I just know a lot of people said when ps3 came out it was pretty powerful for its time and that ps4 was kind of weak for its time when it came out. But considering we have never had something like this happened before when it comes to a mid gen upgrade there was really no way to know if this kind of thing was going to happened. When it comes to graphics on this game they should be much better though. Mlb ps3 was the best looking sports game by far. Now on ps4 it may be the worst. We may have to wait for ps5 for this game to really get a big upgrade in its graphics. Then what? Is mlb on ps5 going to look more like a ps4 game? The game really does need to have a jump in graphics because it is like easily the worst part of this game. Its game play is just about perfect out side of CPU management when it comes to pitching changes.

Getting back to the stream, I was really hoping to hear that Retro Mode would be online.

Boy I can not WAIT for the moment when they tell us that they have put back regular season stats for the batter EACH time they come to the plate. Rather then only showing their stats for that particular day.

If we want The Show to be on par or surpass other sports games in the graphics department they would have to use a different engine like the other sports games have done.

I think it would be best if SDS uses another 1st party studios engine rather then building one from scratch (as it takes too much time and resources to make a brand new engine).

I would say the Killzone/Horizon/Death Stranding engine would be the best choice to replace the current engine being used.
That's what I don't get...why didn't they take advantage of the opportunity provided by a new generation of hardware to reinvent the graphics above and beyond the "look, style and feel" of the PS3 (a la NBA 2k, Fifa and Madden)? However, I'm still holding out hope that somehow something graphically impressive is in store for us this year.

Agree with the pitching deliveries, they've seem to have been really non-nonchalant the past few years. I thought the deliveries from MLB 09-11 were spot on. After that it became too obvious that the same guy was doing all of the new deliveries. There was some quirk with his stepback and his leg kick that made them look pretty similar.

Did also send Ramone a link to an article about the Indians and the Cleveland landmark, the Terminal Tower but he told me it was probably too late to add to 17, since it's never been in the game. But one can only hope it's not too late. If they could add to Target Field before release, why not a Cleveland landmark.

I'm starting to think this is most likely the reason. They're still running on an older PS3 graphics engine. If you look at some of the players faces and skin textures they look very PS3 like. I'd be nice to see if maybe for the pro version they show us something better or at least they're working on something better for future MLB the show titles.

I was disappointed in the stream. For a "new gameplay" stream, this is where in past years you would hear about new batting mechanics or new pitching mechanics. Instead, we heard about new throwing animations which I would venture that 95% of the people to play this game would not even recognize if they weren't pointed out. And retro mode which I would bet that the vast majority of the people that will buy the game will not be interested in playing. Lastly the catcher throwing meter on stolen bases. This is essentially the big new game-play mechanic.

All in all, I get it. The game has essentially peaked creatively. There's just not much more that they can perfect on in terms of core game-play. They can improve the ball physics, the hit types, the animations, but seeing a major change to the way we play the game with batting or pitching is over. And unfortunately that makes the game feel a little bit stale.

I don't blame the developers. I can't think of any major changes I'd make off the top of my head either. I'm just saying, each year is starting to feel an awful lot like the previous year, and it's starting to feel quite a bit like a "roster update" release.

I do think that since there isn't much to improve upon gameplay, at least anything revolutionary, then hopefully they put the focus on game modes like RTTS and Franchise. I get that Diamond Dynasty is huge for them, but many people only play RTTS and Franchise and those modes haven't changed much for years. I really hope they've made big changes in those modes to make this game actually feel next gen, because otherwise it still seems like the same game from the PS3 era with better graphics and better animation.

The Show's pitching motions still do not exude power(strength). Never change~~

I don't think people think ps4 has unlimited graphic and computing power. The problem is last gen mlb the show was by far the best looking game and now it is far behind NBA 2k and NHL and even behind madden when it comes to just graphics and mlb out side of its lighting hardly looks better then it did on ps3. There are a lot of other games/franchises where the jump from ps3 to ps4 or from xbox360 to xboxone was much bigger then the graphic jump of the show on ps3 to ps4.
Unfortunately, NHL 17's player models are NOT next gen. So MLB and NHL are very similar here. Also, with NHL there are only ten guys on the ice and the arenas are largely the same with slight variation. I think the graphics in NHL are woefully behind NBA, Fifa and NFL as well. Too bad.

Might be too late to try to get the new flags, as it wasn't pointed out that they were wrong until the stream/vlog this week.

NBA has like by far the best graphics when it comes to the 4 major sports video games this gen but I disagree about NHL. NHL guys faces look photo realistic at times. The show not so much. I also hate when people say the thing about having only so many players at one time like you said about the NHL game compared to mlb because it just sounds like a excuse to me and it didn't stop mlb from having the best graphics last gen. If the amount of players and arenas was the reason then why did that not impact the show last gen?

I made a post about this last year. I skipped several iteration of the show but bought MLB 16 because I wanted to do a side by side comparison with video game and real life starting pitchers, relievers, and closers, but unfortunately, I never got around to it. One day...

Anytime an object moves extremely fast, there should be a lot of motion blur. MLB The Show, on the other hand, chooses to capture each frame entirely too clean and that's simply not how motion works. This is one reason why Tanaka's pitch (including the majority pitchers) in MLB the Show looks as if it's in slow motion, seemingly as if it's very calculated and clinical so to speak.

Pro Yakyuu does a tremendous job replicating the art (the kinesiology) of pitching, fielding and hitting. The first time I've ever come across PYS's youtube footage, I had to do multiple takes to determine if it was real life footage or gameplay footage.

I am sure when 16 came out, SDS received a lot of complaints about the Progressive Field flags being wrong, I was one of them. When 15 was released, a lot of Indians fans were upset that the renovations weren't included and fixed for 16. Please don't disappoint us again.

Another thing your video points out indirectly is the body proportions of Tanaka. When comparing the real life footage to pro yakyuu spirits his body looks correct, Tanaka has the correct torso/leg with the correct height/width. But if you were to compare The Show to either the real life footage or pro yakyuu spirits, Tanaka just looks off, as if he has the body of a boy not a man.

I've already pointed this out a while back in another post so I'll try not to repeat myself on this. I just hope they fix the body proportions in this game as it just looks off to me.

I can't wait for the day when gameplay surpasses pro baseball spirits. That game just does so much right on the gameplay side.

I definitely pointed out the flags being wrong last year in either the stadium thread or maybe on the Show website forums.

If you can't get this fixed this year can you please make sure the Indians wear red socks. I know a ton of us would really appreciate that.

No confirmation.....but based on feedback from our community I am 99.9% certain it will be back.
