Madden NFL 17 News Post


Madden NFL 17 title update #2 is available now for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, it includes fixes to gameplay, franchise, and Ultimate Team modes. Check out the details below.

Gameplay
  • Tuned Wide Receivers dropping wide open passes to be less frequent
  • Auto-Moves now set to OFF for all MUT Solo Challenges
  • Player-Lock camera fixes
  • Tuned Auto-Broken Tackles to be less frequent
  • Variety of defensive run-game tuning fixes
  • Strip-Ball exploit fixed
  • Fixed issue around clock running out on a defensive penalty
  • Fixed issue with QB’s unable to tackle after throwing an Interception
  • Fixed a variety of rare Special Teams issues
  • Defensive tuning vs. stretch/outside zone runs
  • Addressed a variety of fatigue-related issues
  • Nano-detection System improvements
  • Nano-detection System disabled for user vs. CPU games
  • Fixed 'Ice the Kicker' not functioning in certain situations
  • Addressed users holding kick button to take a delay penalty and re-kicking
  • Fixed issue with user not being able to switch players in co-op play
  • Tuned to WR/DB positioning on streak routes
  • Tuning & Adaptive AI to Linebacker fake-out chances vs. counter plays to make defensive reaction better
  • Kick-Meter Accuracy Range increased on All-Pro & All-Madden
  • Decreased 'nearby player' penalty for defender interceptions, making Interceptions more frequent
Franchise
  • Added ability to save/resume solo Cloud Franchise games
  • Head to head Cloud games will now default to the standard camera
  • Fixed issue where players on IR were counting against active roster
  • Fixed issue where user to user trades could be auto accepted when week advances
  • Many stats and ratings menus are now in widescreen format
  • Fixed issue where some heads appeared incorrect while editing
  • Addressed stability issues in Play the Moment, Training, Formation Subs, and Schemes
  • Fixed issue where some players with preexisting injuries would never return to health
  • Addressed issue where stats are not showing properly when viewed on team goals menu
  • Tuned game regression that can occur for quarterbacks
  • Fixed issue where defensive rookie of the year can show up as offensive player of the year
  • Removed ability for kneeling QBs to be hurt while simminng
  • Adjusted fatigue during Play the Moments
  • Punter stats are now visible in the menus
  • Draft Classes will now have varying penalty traits
  • Highlights menu is now available when ending the game on a simmed play
  • Going for it on 4th downs in Play the Moments have been tuned
  • Strategy suggestions in play call will now track multiple concepts
Ultimate Team
  • Added the ability to add multiple items to a set at once (“Batch-Add-to-Set”)
  • Improved MUT substitution screen UI
  • Chemistry art modifications (larger images!!)
  • Addressed the issue where filters in the Auction House would disappear
  • Addressed the issue where the “Unopened Packs” tile would show 0 even if you had packs unopened
  • Surfaced the “restart” button when failing a Solo Challenge
  • Game speed is set to default for all difficulties including Rookie and Pro (no longer “Slow”)
  • Auto Subs in MUT Solo Challenges are now working correctly

Up until this season, your point would be valid. But as a Panther fan, Cam has 0 awareness in the pocket these last 2 games.

To me this game isn't even playable offline unless you use two controllers and choose a CPB for the CPU D. These zero blitzes are just a joke. Way too easy to burn the CPU and ruins the challenge for me. This is on any level.

It's not a brag...I hate it.

1st game since the update I sacked Dak Prescott. It clearly said FUMBLE across the top of the screen as the ball rolled away. Ryan Kerrigan did a dance and nobody ever went after the ball and the whistle blew.

Dallas ball.

Ridiculous

Not that '17 can't be fixed still or that some of the features aren't valid in improving the game but after playing a few games of '16 after the last patch from July,I have to say that '16 imo plays better in most ways than '17 for the offline player anyways.

You don't have to nerf the pass accuracy slider down to nothing to get good results and I actually had to worry about the CPU qb running.Granted you usually have to get a couple of sacks to see them take off more but Mariota and Taylor both had over 50 yards on me.The big plays aren't nearly as prevalent.Everything just seems to react better to the sliders.

Unfortunately things like the kicking game,while better in '17,is at the point of not really getting much of a different end result than '16 to matter.

I went back to 16'. I had great games, in my fourth season. I can't even get past one game in 17', without shutting off my ps4! Too many issues, even after the patch.

When the man coverage ice skating glitch isn't triggered, coverage is pretty tight. I'm pretty consistently seeing things like this though while playing man. The first link is to the glitch while defending an out and the second while defending an in.

Is it just me or is the CPU much better at stopping the run post patch and tuner? I get stuffed all the time now and didn't before

I understand addressing user feedback, but devs have to be firm in some aspects and users have to adjust and accept the reality of it. There has to be a possibility of mistakes by Ai and humans.
So much this. If qb acc isn't lowered to compensate there will once again be no point to having an elite qb, which is as far away from the actual NFL as you can get.

I don't have the option to download the patch at all, madden just starts up without telling me there's a update, can anyone help me?

It probably already downloaded. If you are online and it lets you start the game up and play, then you are good to go and already have the update

They fixed punter stats but I have noticed that some fg stats and punt return stats are not being recorded in stats menu outside of game.

Drops are definitely in. I have been seeing plenty of drops, happy to see those. I wish i saw more qb off target throws. some tighter coverage to reduce YAC would help with this -- while they are completing the pass, they aren't getting super amount of separation.

There could also be tight restriction on the timing window of passes or a little deceleration when players look back for ball after making main cut on route (allowing defender to recover to a degree) and maybe slower routes by poor route runners (esp HBs out of the backfield)

Have seen very few missed field goals. If the accuracy area grows, the penalty outside of the area should be increased so there is still punishment in some respects.

Still seeing decent QB pressure. Sometimes getting too worried about coverage and not bringing extra players to help with rush -- saw more sacks/pressure once i started bringing more pressure.

I wish DL was more active in short passing game with bat downs. I would think this is something that can be tuned.

Over all I have not seen a lot different between the game before and after patch. Tackling and fighting for extra yards animations look much better though. The second thing is annoying me right now and that is trying to run the ball. I never thought running the ball was to easy in the first place and I really don't understand why they changed it with the patch. Before the patch I had user run blocking at 50 and found it a little to hard to run and had CPU tackling at 45. Now after patch I have lowered CPU tackling down to 35 and I am still not breaking any tackles and there is no run blocking at all. Same kind of thing for the CPU and for there blocking and for them breaking tackles. I just upped run blocking up to 55. The running game is basically the last thing I need to get set before I am ready to start a CFM.

Wrote this elsewhere and can't agree more. Running and the return game are horrible post patch. It's basically impossible to not get tackled immediately now. Is there any slider fix? I put run blocking at 100 and it's still difficult with an all world running back.

Like I said in another thread, I do not understand some people's insane need for everything to be unnecessarily difficult.

Oh and I don't care what anybody says, a 90+ overall WR with 90+ overall individual ratings, having the ball hit his hands and then volleyball 20 feet into the air, after the slightest contact, even when you use possession catch, is not realistic, period.

Happened yesterday in Eagles-Lions game to Marvin Jones who is one of the leading WR in NFL this year.

Quick question for all you defensive madden heads that you may or maynot know, Is camera angle for a defensive "player" franchise now switched to default? I wanna be a defender in my online player league but I hate the locked in reverse angle.

I got thethe patch last night and fell asleep waiting. 5gb

Is there a way to delete the tuner or whatever that makes running and the return game worse but keep other features that were added like the ability to save in Cloud CFM? I'd rather go back to what it was like before the patch

You can delete the tuner but not the patch after you have downloaded it. You could uninstall the game, reinstall it and choose to not update it. You would get rid of the patch that way but you wouldnt have any of the patches w/o updating it
