NBA 2K17 News Post

I had the chance to visit the studios at 2K this week and get an advance sneak peak of NBA 2K17. For full disclosure the trip was paid for entirely by the folks at 2K.

The first thing I want to tell you about NBA 2K17? It has nothing to do with the game itself directly, and everything to do with the people who work on this game year-round.

The wonderful folks at 2K Games, and specifically the team members I met in San Francisco on Tuesday afternoon -- Ronnie, Jeff Thompson, Erick Boenisch, Mike Wang, Ryan Peters, Chris, Czar, and many others -- are folks who are incredibly passsionate about their craft and the game they are producing. They were very welcoming and displayed a lot of that passion while describing what NBA 2K17 is bringing to consoles this year.

While I plan to dive a lot deeper into the topics I'll share below in the coming days, I wanted to at least get some of the nitty gritty out for folks to see and to begin discussing...

Dude it's running at 15 frames a second on this gif. It will be 60 frames and smooth as butter at home.

Once again 2k amazes me. Only thing more I could want is D League but this sounds like I will spend many hours in myleague and Pro-am (trying to be an elite team)

You know, I'm starting to get a little worried about this shot stick thing. Listening to the YouTube videos of those who went out to test the game, it's starting to sound like this shot stick shooting vs button shooting is going to be overpowering, almost to the point of detrimental.

Honestly, I hope my fears are wrong, but I've got this unnerving feeling that shot stick shooting (and the bonus that comes with it) is going to be almost Patch 4 2K15-like, especially when compared to shooting with the button.

All sounds good - I hope there is some improved AI roster management. Nothing worse than seeing a team who has 2 or even 3 solid PG draft or sign another PG when they only have 1 centre on their squad.

I have heard that Madden 17 does a really good job of this so hoping 2k can match that

ok so ive been thru two 2K17 posts within 5 minutes...and im astonished
my gawd the news is great so far..

but what peaks my interest is

NBA 2K17 now has a total of 11 commentators. Some are familiar faces -- such as Kevin Harlan, Greg Anthony, Shaq and Ernie -- while others are new, including Brent Berry, Steve Smith, Doris Burke, Chris Webber, and David Aldridge. The commentary team is based geographically, so depending on which arena you're playing in, you'll hear from different commentary teams.

there's a possibility of Breen and Walt Clyde??

Members who said this would be NBA 2K16.5 should feel really salty right now lol.

But there is going to be more skill involved in getting it right so shouldn't you be rewarded more for that?

Button shooting may still be the way to go for open jumpers or whatever but I'm looking forward to learning a new in game skill and seeing the way that works and impact it has. Ive always been a button shooter but will definitely be learning the sticks for 17.

Heh, you'll say that until people begin to splash ridiculous shots, contested or not. Won't see it early on, but would probably begin to happen once people get used to the new mechanic. And that's where it gets worrisome.

I'm sorry but I'm not getting excited until I play it. This game has so many fanboys that they literally say how much the game's improved, and you play it and there's not much difference year to year.

Anything with the In-game substitutions? Last year's version was very annoying, hopefully it was change to the "traditional" was it used to be.

Man, that was real bad in 2K16 and I'm hoping the same as you. Three years into my MyLeague, the Nuggets had 5 point guards, 1 power forward. Illogical trades and draft picks smh

Being able to share /upload & download shoes & Dleague would be that icing right about now...
