Madden NFL 17 News Post

Damarious Randall, cornerback for the Green Bay Packers, posted this Madden NFL 17 screenshot, (which has recently been deleted) showing off some of the new presentation in the game this year.

It's obviously early in the cycle, so a lot of details won't be shown off. Either way, it's Madden NFL 17 news and we are going to post it.

It was around this time last year the Madden hype train started, as they gave the release date with plenty of details on the game released in May.

I'd go back to the days of James Brown in the studio and Madden and Summerall as the announcers.

Until the games starts looking similar to a NFL broadcast and sounding like one, expectations aren't very high for me in that area. The bright spot is that Rex mentioned commentary was a area of concern that needed to be addressed.
Madden 10 was close, IMO. It wasn't NFL2k but it was at least emulating a TV broadcast. None of this weird "video gamely" stuff we're seeing now that has never been seen in a real life broadcast. I remember wondering why they had all these banners for XP and drive goals but not utilizing them for actual stats and pertinent CFM info. I get that they may want to do their own hybrid presentation. That's cool. But it hurts the immersion factor for me.

I think this is part of the reason I really don't like any of the "above and beyond" areas that they try to take presentation. I don't necessarily have a problem with, and completely understand, doing things that wouldn't necessarily be possible with a normal, real-life broadcast. I think more of my issue comes from the fact that when they do choose to do them, like in the case of the on-field cameras or this kind of intro, it looks so awkward and out of place compared to every other broadcast element. The camerawork isn't the same or, in this case, the setup seems weird IMO.

Im not going to knock it I just realize that im not part of the target audience in the presentation category I want exactly what I see in real life not made up presentations. A lil nervous about the area of equipment but that's another subject Ill address once more screenshots release.

Personally I think it's self-evident that Madden has focused on broadcast-themed presentation - augmented by Tiburon's own little twists, but big-picture focused on looking like real-life broadcasts - since Madden NFL 10, with varying levels of success.

The presentation of the first few XBOX 360 games in particular - what with the radio announcer, the cannon sound effect for deep bombs, the virtualized and blue everything in Madden 09 - was not at all broadcast-themed. It was also varying levels of mediocre to awful. We have come a long way since those games.

Reasonable minds may beg to differ as to how much Madden 16 presently looks and sounds like an NFL broadcast, but personally I think it comes plenty close already, with the commentary from Jim Nantz and Phil Simms ironically being the biggest thing holding back the current implementation. I'm also 100% with Mr Price in that I don't think Tiburon should limit themselves to what we all see on TV.

When will EA actually take advantage of the ESPN liscense? Don't get me wrong, I'm feeling the new presentation but why get the ESPN exclusive liscense when you're not taking advantage of it? NBA Live is, why not Madden. If anything they should've gotten the CBS exclusive liscense 'cause that's exactly what they went for.

Yeah, that was close, but there were issues with it and the development team didn't like The Extra Point, so, after Madden 11, they tore it down as quickly as they put it in because we were told they didn't like it.

I agree with the poster above, they bought the ESPN license, why don't they utilize it more often? I heard because it conflicts with the NFL Network from a explanation during the same time frame.

I think the closest version to a TV broadcast was '12.The cameras and after play closeups were very good. The only thing disappointing about '12's presentation was that they scraped the Extra Point instead of building on it.

Please madden team, get the lip guard mouthpieces in the game! It's all I've been looking for since last gen! 40% of the league wears them, it would help immensely in differentiating the generic rookie faces.

Well, looks like my NBC request isn't going through lol

To me it looks like some sort of pregame presentation, notice Adams in the background behind them, I'm guessing they are going to show each group one by one as they take the field and maybe have the commentary talk about them, but I do not believe this is presentation taking place during the game, seeing how a WR(Adams) is behind them.

I could be wrong but I believe that's Packers ILB #47 Jake Ryan in the background and not Davante Adams.

I think it is you're right but it looks like he's with a group of guys and it looks like they're by the tunnel. I still think it's part of a pregame presentation, also the secondary would be behind the LBs if this was during a game.

I don't think they've ever got presentation right in Madden

It's always redundant and every team seems to have the same routine

For once I'm happy presentation is cut out online. Not a fan of this look at all.

Morgan Burnett's feet/shoes look like PS2 graphic shoes.

I disagree that it's pre-game introductions. My guess is that it starts with a group and then does a quick camera transition zooming either forward or backwards to the next group. It's impossible to know but just based off the screenshot with the playclock at :26, it definitely seems like the its the unit intro after a few plays and something either replacing or in addition to that.

With a little bit of tweaking this could be great for the playoffs and primetime games. I think they should definitely not have them doing those celebrations though. It's bad enough we have to see guys shooting arrows and doing the bernie after nearly every tackle or first down, we don't need them doing it in player intros too. Stick to the arms folded or something simple. It's going to look really bad IMO if every intro players are dabbing and doing the whip and nay nay.

Meh. I basically come here out of habit these days. I skipped 16 except for some brief time over a free weekend. I'm already planning on skipping 17. The screenshot looks exaggerated, and given EA record we will see this same shot, with the same players doing the same poses every game with every team to the point it'll feel old after a couple games.

I love football. I love video games. I just do not like madden.

16 was a good game, 17 will be the next step towards simulation, but I don't think we're at the point where people will drop their jaws....yet

I can almost guarantee last seasons most popular celebrations/dances will occur often...hopefully at the right moments.
