Haven't been able to watch the stream yet. Did they discuss the playoff rosters?

I did a search in this thread for "britton" and it came up with nothing. Has anyone discussed the fact that zach britton signed a FA contract and was traded days/weeks later (before the next season)? That seems like odd logic.

Jeter spent most of his career batting 2nd, no? I guess he wasn't a star. Lol.

Thanks. I was under the impression that the trade slider was related to frequency not logic though. I don't mind players getting traded a lot but there should be some kind of internal block on players being traded within the first 5 months of joining a team or something like that (like in FIFA).

Really really really dissapointed that online franchise wasn't touched at all. I understand the argument of priorities based on how many people play each mode but not touching the mode at all isn't how you grow it. I'm in an online Madden league that has interest in also doing a league in The Show but doesn't because the mode is too bare bones compared to the offline mode. At the very least it would be nice if they made having something more than quick presentation an option for online franchises. Really sucks the air out of you when you hit a big HR against your buddy with others watching on Twitch and skips right to the next batter

I was happy to hear about how Garcia's attribute drop was "extreme" but the examples provided didn't quite show what I would want.

Of course a player who is down in the 40s doesn't really have too much further to drop off if they struggle. Of course a player in the upper 90s won't go up much if they hit well vs LHP because the ceiling is pretty much right there.

I'm just hoping those weren't intentional examples to gloss over a potential issue. I would prefer to see players who begin in the 60's/70's with certain contact ratings and see how good/bad seasons impact their attributes.

Not really. If he is happy with his contract, performance, coaching, etc., he can still be quite happy overall even though he isn't hitting in a 'Star' spot in the lineup. Also, we don't know what makes a player want the 'Star' role yet. Is tied to rating so any player rated over X will automatically want the 'Star' role? Is it set based on real-life attitudes of players where some guys don't care about individual recognition but others prioritize themselves over the team? What if some very highly rated players have 'No Preference' for their role? All questions we don't have answers to until we get our hands on the game.

I thought they said the for those who are "Stars" if you put them in the bottom of the order they will be unhappy. I would think a player who has a "Star" would be fine with hitting in 1-5 positions.

Why is everyone talking about hitting second???? Pretty sure he put Donaldson in the 9th spot in the video. 2nd is still top of the lineup and I'm sure it won't have a negative impact like hitting 9th. Can we play the game first before jumping to conclusions

Well Mike Trout has hit in the 2 hole so hope he doesn't become angry. Imo, I think they need to make the 2 and 5 hole for stars too

It's interesting that you call the two most played modes, according to the developers, "side modes".

I'm more curious than I am worried. I'm guessing stars will be satisfied or whatever it is if they bat in a good spot just not 1st, 3rd or 4th.

I have never played DD, and I don't see how they can measure offline franchise users. If I play offline franchise, I may never connect online and they can't measure that. Gameplay and Franchise should always be first thing on a developers plate to improve, not the side modes.

It is insulting to see them improve DD, but leave a basic thing like new schedules in Franchise untouched.

We finally have expanded stat tracking which is awesome! And for everyone that complains that the progression system is still off...You can still manually adjust players attributes people. Like come on. First thing I do before starting a franchise is chnage all star players potentials to A. Customization is a beautiful thing, just saying.

I hate it to break it to you, but just because you are not using an online mode, does not mean your console is not connected to the internet, or transmitting data online. They know exactly how popular offline franchise is among the userbase.

RTTS is also 100% offline and they say that it is the most played mode so that kind of negates your theory that they can't track the offline mode.

The game connects to the server every time you start it. They are apparently tracking which modes get played, both online and off.

But is it a basic thing? Do you know how their programming works? Also, do you realize that while you don't play DD, there are many others that do? While people may not like it, these ultimate team modes are not going away and will continue to see improvements each year because they bring in a lot, and I mean a lot, of money for the company.

People are responding to what was said in the stream. Luis specifically said that the stars have THREE spots in the batting order. He listed them - 1st, 3rd, and 4th.

Edit - It's at the 16:27 mark in the stream

To clarify, I didn't refer to DD as a side mode...it's why I mentioned it specifically. I also didn't mention RTTS (which I assume you are referring to when you talk about the two most popular modes) or mean to imply anything about it. It's the only other mode I play. The "side modes" I was talking about are the new modes they are adding this year.

All that said, I think you misread the tone of the post anyway (I thought the smiley would give away my light tone with all that) if that's what you're taking from it.

Long story short, I was jokingly saying I'd be happy with franchise and nothing else in terms of modes. Obviously I know that not everyone feels that strongly about franchise, nor do I expect them to.
