NBA 2K16 News Post


NBA 2K16 patch #4 is available for PlayStation 4, weighing in at 2.4GB. The same patch is scheduled to be released for PC and Xbox One very soon. Once they release, we will update this post.

UPDATE: Patch #4 is available for PC and Xbox One now.

GENERAL
  • Addressed a hang that can occur when editing/applying tattoos in Edit Player.
  • Resolved a bug where one or more users in a co-op game would lose control of their player at some point during the game.
  • Fixed a disconnect issue that some users were seeing during online games.
  • (PC) Fixed a corruption issue where some users were experiencing hangs, missing art assets, and infinite loads. Please ensure that your virus scanning software (e.g. Avast) whitelists your Steam folder/directory. This is required for new content to properly download and install.
  • Closed a loophole where the pause timer would stop counting down when sitting in the ‘Report Image’ flow.
  • Improved the user interface when applying contracts to players in MyTEAM by removing the display of how many contracts the player would have IF the current card was applied.
  • Fixed a case where the user accepting an online invite would sometimes skip the position selection screen in the way into matchmaking.
  • Headwear should now properly unequip when attempting to do so from within the MyPARK Apparel section of the store.
  • The player portrait will now update when a new user is signed in on the main menu via the account picker.
  • A number of other optimizations and enhancements have been made to improve the user experience.
GAMEPLAY
  • Teammate free throw celebration/interaction behaviors have been corrected.
  • Slightly tuned down the frequency of ball collisions.
  • Fixed an issue that led to a temporary loss of user control on possession changes while in the 2K Cam.
  • Tuned down the frequency of missed alley-oop and putback dunks when open.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed high rated post players to shoot post fadeaway 3's at a high percentage.
MyCAREER/MyPARK/MyCOURT
  • Fixed a rare issue where the game would hang when Doris Burke interviews your MyPLAYER at the end of the first half and/or at the end of the game.
  • The correct records and rep levels will now be shown for the players on the MyPARK loading screen.
  • Corrected the wall and floor art for the San Antonio Spurs theme in MyCOURT.
  • Fixed a case where some purchased shoes were not properly appearing on the shoe racks in MyCOURT.
MyGM/MyLEAGUE
  • Resolved a hang that could occur many, many years into MyGM when entering the offseason.
  • Generated players will now wear the correct color socks for away games.
  • Fixed an issue where generated players were getting their free throw animations randomized every offseason.
  • The Strengths/Weaknesses screen in Team Comparison should now be functioning properly once again.
NOTE: All patch fixes will work in your existing game mode saves (unless specifically noted otherwise).

1 criticism is that I saw the ball teleport thru Faried's body when I drove w/ Steph. It would be nice if it wasn't in the game, but it is. What you gonna do tho, ya know? I'm not gonna harp on that.
how is the player movement for you, and is the defense better for just CPU AI teammates or is it better for the CPU AI in general aswell

Sorry, the patch notes are inaccurate. The movement issue would have affected any camera angle, not just 2K, and should be fixed with Patch 4.

Well if thats working now mayble pro am walk on is also.

Just wonder if it is back to like before patch three were if you are in different affiliations you will get squaded up if you join a friends court.

Half time My Career, feels fairly good so far with just one guy stepping out on the baseline. Only turnover I had so far is when a teammate juggled a a pass and lost it. Houston hitting everything.

Any chance they can fix the commentary to react better to key plays. They hardly do on my end. The buzzer beater reaction barely happen as well. The crowd just doesn't do it for me either, anyway they can tune that as well. Doesn't feel as authentic as actual NBA game.

Can anyone speak on the simulated stats for mygm/myleague? Looking for the Points in the Paint issue. When simming, league wide was really low numbers in there.

Small sample size!!

Fast break offense vs transition defense has much much improved..
Player movement definitely alot smoother. .
CPU is not leaving a man open on the pick and roll which is great..
Human blow by cpu have been toned down ( this was my pet peeve )

So far great and much needed fixes!!!

Free-throw celebrations are only working for the user & not the CPU. What gives?

Also, I was hoping for the Halftime highlights to be fixed. The highlights have absolutely nothing to do with what the crew is commentating on. Not a huge deal but it sticks out. I won't even bother bringing up why post game highlights still don't work on PS4 when playing on quarters longer than 6 minutes. We still haven't got a clear explanation as to why they can't fix this (I know it's rumoured to be a PS4 memory issue but the point is to my knowledge 2K has yet to officially explain it) They just avoid it like the plague smh.

*Correction* The CPU does celebrate after free throws just not every time. It seems to be random.

I feel like I am having a really hard time controlling my players now. It might have just been a laggy game, but switching players was seriously delayed and inconsistent. Icon passing was totally unresponsive. Pressing pass and getting no result. I'm not sure if it was lag because controlling the player with the ball was normal.

Also transition D is just as bad as ever, players left wide open all over the place. I have to manually pull players back to their mark over and over.


and PLEASE fix players not getting back after a free throw. I played a Cavs with the Kings and my free throws might as well have been waved off because every time they would inbound it and run right down while all 5 players on my team slowly jogged back. If its a 2 on 2 both players will converge on the ball handler or stand at the free throw line and not cover the basket on a slashing player. Its insane. If you try to cover the off-ball player manually the offense will just ignore you there while they don't have the ball.

You can easily bump a ball handler but off-ball players basically go where they want on the fast break no matter what you do to them. The CPU can body off-ball but maybe I just don't know the controls to do it myself.

Glad Mike and the team figured out that it just wasn't for 2K cam and change of possessions. Thank you. Saved me from having to retiring 2K16 which is a great game.

That sucks. But I'll rather live with that than the movement issue or not having them at all.

This guy feels my pain on the highlights. Not that an explanation would help anything, but it would be better than ignoring such a glaring issue entirely.

That being said, I'm anxious to give the patch a try.

Never heard of that one... Or seen it either... I'm surprise there is no video in this

Fixed an issue that allowed high rated post players to shoot post fadeaway 3's at a high percentage.

Actually, I came across this last night. We were screwing around in my court, and some of the fades from halfcourt were dropping like water.
