NBA 2K16 News Post


NBA 2K16 patch #4 is available for PlayStation 4, weighing in at 2.4GB. The same patch is scheduled to be released for PC and Xbox One very soon. Once they release, we will update this post.

GENERAL
  • Addressed a hang that can occur when editing/applying tattoos in Edit Player.
  • Resolved a bug where one or more users in a co-op game would lose control of their player at some point during the game.
  • Fixed a disconnect issue that some users were seeing during online games.
  • (PC) Fixed a corruption issue where some users were experiencing hangs, missing art assets, and infinite loads. Please ensure that your virus scanning software (e.g. Avast) whitelists your Steam folder/directory. This is required for new content to properly download and install.
  • Closed a loophole where the pause timer would stop counting down when sitting in the ‘Report Image’ flow.
  • Improved the user interface when applying contracts to players in MyTEAM by removing the display of how many contracts the player would have IF the current card was applied.
  • Fixed a case where the user accepting an online invite would sometimes skip the position selection screen in the way into matchmaking.
  • Headwear should now properly unequip when attempting to do so from within the MyPARK Apparel section of the store.
  • The player portrait will now update when a new user is signed in on the main menu via the account picker.
  • A number of other optimizations and enhancements have been made to improve the user experience.
GAMEPLAY
  • Teammate free throw celebration/interaction behaviors have been corrected.
  • Slightly tuned down the frequency of ball collisions.
  • Fixed an issue that led to a temporary loss of user control on possession changes while in the 2K Cam.
  • Tuned down the frequency of missed alley-oop and putback dunks when open.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed high rated post players to shoot post fadeaway 3's at a high percentage.
MyCAREER/MyPARK/MyCOURT
  • Fixed a rare issue where the game would hang when Doris Burke interviews your MyPLAYER at the end of the first half and/or at the end of the game.
  • The correct records and rep levels will now be shown for the players on the MyPARK loading screen.
  • Corrected the wall and floor art for the San Antonio Spurs theme in MyCOURT.
  • Fixed a case where some purchased shoes were not properly appearing on the shoe racks in MyCOURT.
MyGM/MyLEAGUE
  • Resolved a hang that could occur many, many years into MyGM when entering the offseason.
  • Generated players will now wear the correct color socks for away games.
  • Fixed an issue where generated players were getting their free throw animations randomized every offseason.
  • The Strengths/Weaknesses screen in Team Comparison should now be functioning properly once again.
NOTE: All patch fixes will work in your existing game mode saves (unless specifically noted otherwise).

Whatever changed to let us get the patch on the same day, keep it up whomever it was. They definitely made more gameplay adjustments then were mentioned in the patch notes. My 4 or 5 man didn't wander into the stanchion once in the game that I just played, and all of the completely nonsensical defensive lapses have been reduced to just a few occurrences. There are still some trouble areas on defense, but it is exponentially better than it was.

So it seems As usual 2k is too worried about making that cash cow leave instead of addressing the real issues. which is why my team& my player get the most attention So if the transitional d is still bad after a tip or ft miss then this patch is assinine. ppl scoring in 4 sec after a made basket & 2k doesn't see this? I'm sorry bt in my Cris Carter voice "CMON MAN!!!!!!!!!!! 2k sold out for the almighty dollar

We have no idea what the issue is. There some speculation that it has to do with the amount of highlights that the PS4 takes during the game and it uses too much memory or something. And we know for a fact that it is a PS4 issue because they work perfectly on PC and on the X1.

Anyone else feeling slower on defense? Changing directions on defense is giving me a little bit of that quicksand effect.

In Game injuries in MyGM?i have played about 40 Games between patch 3/4 and only had 1 minor in game injury and literally nothing else. Not even messages after game about a player who was hurt.

anyone else experience this?

Maybe its just me having a bad game offensively and playing solid D, but shooting seem alot more difficult for both me and the AI. Not quiye sure what to think because I didnt light it up before this patch. I guess atleast they didnt break it to where shooting is to easy like last year.

Something Im not to happy about is the lack of fouls in this game, and its even worse now for some reason after the patch. Thats really my inly major complaint. Although Im still seeing the AI get rob of there timeout not being added back after halftime, but I do get mine, and what really sucks is the AI isnt to smart to begin with taking timeouts, so that wasnt fixed, plus Im not seeing any zone D at all still. Dont know if I need to reinstall but my disc doesnt have any scratches so I dont think its my disc. I gate to reinstall since it takes several hours to reinstall, but I might try that to see if it fixes it.

Gameplay wise its still a solid game, but wish they would tune it to have more fouls especially not shooting fouls, but after this patch even with all at 100 I didnt see hardly any even for shooting fouls. Hopefully its was just a odd game and thats not anymore of a problem than before this patch but I am a little concerned.

Someone else posted it but I am on just confirming. On PS4 the free throw celebrations work for the user but not the CPU. On the CPU it stands still and twitches like after the last patch.

I am on Xbox and I've seen it for the CPU and for myself.

Yeah I actually liked the game better when it punished turbo/isomotion spammers and rewarded the people playing tight, positionally sound defense without reaching.

Now you can't get many steals playing on-ball defense without pressing the X button, and guys can just dribble into your body and limbs without much consequence.

Did they remove or tone down that flailing animation after turning the ball over? I haven't noticed it

Glad to see ft interactions back
maybe its a placebo but game feels tighter
my teammates seem to play better defense

Ok but why do u wish to be rewarded twice for playing good defense? Isnt disrupting or impeded position adequate enough.........?to lose the ball is not an appropriate or adequate punishment when being closely guarded or from collision in basketball video game where bounces are automatic so u have no control of location the ball touches the hardwood...hence i have no control of how closely i dribble to or away from the body of the ball handler...which if one of key element in dribbling...CP3 is a master at adjusting dribble distance to split screens and weave around defenders...so until we have more dribble control losing the ball as a result of just showing up on defense feels cheated

Maybe the ball should be easier to swat lose if and mostly if an animation can visually justify the defender poking the ball lose from hand and ball collision or slowing the dribbler's movement...as it was before tbe rate of turnovers imo was ridiculous as a punishment from a visual or aesthetic representation or blance of pro vs con with regards to offense defense

It's ridiculous. If you handle the ball through someone else, You must lose the ball
independently if someone wants to steal it or not. Just think about these things makes you realize how few really know how to play and understand basketball. I would put a lot more turnovers if people will dribbles through you.
And remove these absurd limits in my career?And remove the attributes into categories?

One thing I did notice ...I was leading by 2 with a couple of secs left in the 4th and the cpu didnt attempt a late foul

Has this fixed MyCareer? In my SF save, since I've become a starter, I avg around 44 minutes a game. I've played the full 48 in about 10 games. The only way I get benched is if we're winning by 30+ at the end of the 3rd quarter. Even then, I come back in with 5 minutes left

to the people complaining about losing the ball its still there nothing much changed you might want to play a little more before you say that it changed much,it does feel like they slowed players down though.also this is a video game for fun not real ball when you constantly was losing the ball it was not much fun at all so i do think it has improved the game in the end.
