NBA 2K16 News Post

NBA 2K16 patch #4 is available for PlayStation 4, weighing in at 2.4GB. The same patch is scheduled to be released for PC and Xbox One very soon. Once they release, we will update this post.

UPDATE: Patch #4 is available for PC and Xbox One now.

Check out the patch notes below and let us know what you are seeing!

GENERAL
  • Addressed a hang that can occur when editing/applying tattoos in Edit Player.
  • Resolved a bug where one or more users in a co-op game would lose control of their player at some point during the game.
  • Fixed a disconnect issue that some users were seeing during online games.
  • (PC) Fixed a corruption issue where some users were experiencing hangs, missing art assets, and infinite loads. Please ensure that your virus scanning software (e.g. Avast) whitelists your Steam folder/directory. This is required for new content to properly download and install.
  • Closed a loophole where the pause timer would stop counting down when sitting in the ‘Report Image’ flow.
  • Improved the user interface when applying contracts to players in MyTEAM by removing the display of how many contracts the player would have IF the current card was applied.
  • Fixed a case where the user accepting an online invite would sometimes skip the position selection screen in the way into matchmaking.
  • Headwear should now properly unequip when attempting to do so from within the MyPARK Apparel section of the store.
  • The player portrait will now update when a new user is signed in on the main menu via the account picker.
  • A number of other optimizations and enhancements have been made to improve the user experience.
GAMEPLAY
  • Teammate free throw celebration/interaction behaviors have been corrected.
  • Slightly tuned down the frequency of ball collisions.
  • Fixed an issue that led to a temporary loss of user control on possession changes while in the 2K Cam.
  • Tuned down the frequency of missed alley-oop and putback dunks when open.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed high rated post players to shoot post fadeaway 3's at a high percentage.
MyCAREER/MyPARK/MyCOURT
  • Fixed a rare issue where the game would hang when Doris Burke interviews your MyPLAYER at the end of the first half and/or at the end of the game.
  • The correct records and rep levels will now be shown for the players on the MyPARK loading screen.
  • Corrected the wall and floor art for the San Antonio Spurs theme in MyCOURT.
  • Fixed a case where some purchased shoes were not properly appearing on the shoe racks in MyCOURT.
MyGM/MyLEAGUE
  • Resolved a hang that could occur many, many years into MyGM when entering the offseason.
  • Generated players will now wear the correct color socks for away games.
  • Fixed an issue where generated players were getting their free throw animations randomized every offseason.
  • The Strengths/Weaknesses screen in Team Comparison should now be functioning properly once again.
NOTE: All patch fixes will work in your existing game mode saves (unless specifically noted otherwise).

I thought they fixed centers standing out of bounds? Apparently not. Ugh this game...

Hope it won't crash again when I'm editing the tattoos, have been waiting for 2k to fix it for so long.

That was a really really long run on sentence. You need to communicate your point clearly if you want them to listen. What happens when your taking to someone who goes on and on and on. Several sentences mashed together. You normally roll your eyes and stop listening

it feels like they upped the speed a lot. It's too fast

Anyone say why we can't get compression shorts? This is not a good look.

Thanks you guys. All you had to do was learn how to take care of the damn ball.

I dont know if its the roster Ive been using as I have basically been playing with the legends eidtied roster as I dont like to play with my Pacers till Im ready for My League. But today I decided to play a game with the latest roster just to see if there was any difference in play. The play seemed much faster and players seem to be skating, its like they are like feathers now they have no weight. What had made this game so great was players felt weighted and footplanted this year compared to the last few years, but now its pretty bad. The more I play the more unhappy Im getting. Although I did notice more fouls, so the patch didnt ruin fouls completely like I 1st thought yesterday. I did mess with strength slider and speed attribute slider with rasing strength and lowering speed some and that did seem to help a tad.

Dont know if I need to uninstall my game and reboot it, but still seeing issues with timeouts, and not getting the 20 timeout added back after halftime for the AI, and the last game I played I didnt get mine either after halftime. What had been such a wonderful game when it first came out as far as gameplay is now somewhat a disappointment for me now after all the patches. Going to go back to MLBTS for a while I think and put away NBA2k16 for a while as I think I need a break from this game as its becoming a disappointment once again.

Sorry, but all I saw was defenders trying to run into his hands in that second gif. The first one at full speed on his right, then the on-ball defender instead of trying to keep his man in front of him.

The second one should've been a turnover once he went behind his back and THEY were running into the defender while holding turbo.

My considerations after 14 games played post patch (28 different teams – superstar/simulation – no sliders – shooting user timing).

Shooting - I think we should specify which aspect we are talking about: numbers and/or perception. In my opinion, percentages are better than ever. I’ve seen an average of 44-45-46% from the field. Percentages alone are near the perfection, is the development of those numbers that I do not completely like. Last tuning is a good step forward (maybe it needs more balance: I have seen many reversed/unexpected outcomes but at the end of the day numbers are fantastic).

Transition defense – They were able to cut down final scores (FINALLY). The pace of the game is now pretty solid and final scores (48 minutes games) are PERFECT (obviously it is also due to tuned percentages). I’m wondering why they did not put it in patch notes. I mean the improvement of transition defense is so evident.

Bump stealing – I hate the change they made. I play mainly offline and lowered bump stealing is allowing the CPU to get away with drives that should have been stopped. The CPU now never turns the ball over. But I ultimately think that this will be the focus for NBA2k17. We need a smarter and humanized AI. The CPU is too consistent in many areas of the game. The AI should be smarter but at the same time able to make dumb mistakes (the CPU is now too consistent taking care of the ball). User and CPU should be punish when attacking the basket with reckless abandon.

On ball defense – Contacts and bumps are returned to the initial level even though crossovers and moves are a bit underpowered (especially against the AI).

Defensive awareness – Centers are still gravitating out of bounds. Defenders leave their man open again (fortunately not at the previous rate).

Game variety – It’s a small sample size, but I have seen more close games (less blowouts, if you prefer). On one hand I’m loving it because weaker teams can now compete, but on the other game variety seems reduced.

However the gameplay on superstar/hof simulation against the AI is better than ever...best offline experience ever (and after patch 4 it's not even close...)

What do you mean running into his hands? I was trying to stay in front of him yet he was dribbling through my body as if I wasn't there.

I was wondering why you weren't sagging back a tad more. Just from brief observation, it was looking like you started trying to turbo into his hands once he went to break away. Could be wrong, but it's just something I was used to seeing in Pro Am, and it reminded me of people's tactics.

Nah, I just saw him running full speed and I was trying to cut him off.

First gif dude was literally running back and forth in a circle with Westbrook so I was trying to throw a double team to get the ball out of his hands.

That first gif is him going into the post. That animation has been turnover proof and practically invincible beyond the 3-point line for the last two years. You could have 4-5 guys on him, and you still wouldn't get the ball from him until he came out of it in any way.

On-Ball Defense:

Intense-D: Press and hold L2/LT when in front of dribbler
Vertical Contest: Move and hold left stick away from the shooter and press Triangle/Y
Swat Block: Hold R2/RT and press Triangle/Y
Also Intense D is pressure sensitive . The harder the press the more intense from my understanding .

My problem is on defense I can't think to NOT press L2 too hard and it doesn't help that I don't use the vertical contest (left stick away from shooter + triangle ) I'm always pressing the stick TOWARDS. The defender with L2 pressed all the way down . It causes me to foul way too much on shots I shouldn't have too .

Do anyone else feels like it's still too easy to get in the paint to score and also easy to exploit the cpu defense in transition? This games seems too easy for me.
