NHL 16 Tuner Update For September 28

Hey guys,

So Sean Ramjagsingh (Rammer to most of you) has asked openly on Twitter for feedback on the latest tuner, and what better place than here for him to get constructive feedback to use? So here is what I want to do:

Post your feedback on the new tuner. But there are a few guidelines.

Post whether you commenting on offline or online gameplay

Post if you have altered sliders (for offline)

Post how many games you have played with the new tuner

Post constructively

This way we can give accurate and meaningful feedback. Post videos if you'd like, but again - keep it constructive.

Here are the tuner notes (Thanks Jake19ny!):

SEPT 28 - TUNER

Gameplay

Improved poke collisions to address issues where a puck would be dislodged even when the puck or puck carriers stick were not contacted.
Increased speed of player controlled goalie when using precision motion.
Increased the pass error for the lowest pass accuracy slider settings.
Tuned down agility and ability to generate speed when turning tightly with protect puck.
Lessened the effect of the speed penalty on the puck carrier slightly when stickhandling a puck.

OTP/EASHL only

Turned down effectiveness of AI players in online faceoffs.
Goalie will commit more towards the shooter/puck side of the ice to guard against short side shots.
Lowered the threshold to which a player is able to receive/pick up a puck cleanly.

UPDATE: (9/29) We have removed �Increased the likelihood to trip a player when a pokecheck goes into the opponents skates or legs.� after many players have stated that it resulted in too many tripping penalties.

If I want to go back to the out of box tuning how do I delete the 'current' tuner?

I can't find the file like I can for other games...

Let me know if you can figure it out. I'm interested in doing that as well but I'm stuck at school teaching kids about MAP Online testing that begins next week for our school. It is so exciting I'm typing this in class while they watch the video

Now that is interesting. WAY better than my classroom now. Now the video is finished and my seventh graders are silently taking the practice tests...... I hate silence. My computer lab is usually a mad house that the principal has to pop in every once in a while because we get rowdy with our projects and make school fun.

This, is, not, fun!

Anyway, this is some great testing you guys are doing. Good work and keep it up. There is a terrific game hiding in there. It is extraction time!

I find it incredibly frustrating that year after year, we have to spend countless hours tweaking sliders, deleting tuners, so on and so fourth, in order to have a semi-realistic game with enough penalties and CPU AI that plays a fundamental game of hockey.

There should be online and offline tuners, or at least the option to PICK which one you use. Sliders should go from 0-100, not 0-6. NBA 2k has sliders that go from 0-100 and guess what, they actually work. People don't complain about not being able to tweak the offline game enough. I've played 2k in the past with some ultra-realistic settings and it was a blast! I just wish I could have the same experience in a hockey game as it's my favorite sport.

I've been trying to hold it all it for awhile now but it's just the same old thing, year after year. Why can't we just have tuners that don't break the game and sliders that actually work?

Agreed! I just want a decent variety of penalties and the cpu to dump the puck for strategy and for line changes and I'd be a happy man.

If EA simply just did the above they wouldn't have to waste time and resources making tuners. It appears that after they release the game they listen to whichever group screams the loudest and the most and makes a tuner. The tuner screws something else up and then that group screams loud and the most so they attempt a tuner to fix that....then the next group of unhappy campers chime in...so on and so on.

EA you cannot please every type of gamer out there so stop trying, you put fourth a great effort and good game this year and then ruined it by trying to appease random groups of complainers with tuners. I was one of those random groups of complainers when it came to penalties. That's why this idea above makes the most sense. No tuners except to fix bugs and glitches but as far as gameplay goes just revamp the entire slider system and leave it to the gamer to find his sweet spot. When it comes to offline, if I want to max a penalty slider and have 30 PPs a game that's my business....If I want to lower the penalty slider and spam the poke check button and trip everybody on the ice including the ref, that's my business. If I want to up scoring accuracy and score 30 goals a game, that's my business.....you get the picture. Make a great game with the base settings for Rookie, Pro, All-Star, and Superstar include a revamped and better slider system and let the guy who shelled out $70 for it decide what type of game he wants to play.

I never played the NBA2k series but MLB the Show has nailed the slider system as well. In a million years I thought I could never get a baseball game to play like the real MLB but I have with that game the past few years. I just wish I loved baseball as much as I do hockey....

So I still have the 9/28 tuner. I never go into HUT or online. I simply load my offline BeAGm. (unless I should DL a tuner)

So.....stay away from those modes and I will not be promted to DL another tuner correct?

Correct,like myself I am staying away from going online and am more than happy with the 1st tuner they released.....

I just deleted my entire file and started from scratch, game is playing way better now but still not as good as it was after that one tuner where myself and a lot of people were happy.

Just played a couple of games....no tuner, , cpu took a variety of penalties...boarding, interference, charging, holding, tripping, high sticking and slashing....they've even dumped it in at times, and used the boards for some passing plays and cycled....id like them to dump it in more and draw more pps cuz those penalties were over a bunch of games but I'll deal with it for now, if they just get a good tuner out to correct the nonsense they did, this game has such potential.

For clarification, so you download the latest but you're playing on Default, Pro and only penalty sliders tweaks?

Canuck, don't download anything....just delete the profile and start the game over from scratch, you'll have to do your settings and stuff but it's worth it for now,...Xbox one you gotta delete everything but it's def worth it for now too.

Anyone remember a couple of years ago when one of the devs said something about certain changes only being implemented in the Hardcore game style? Since tweaking sliders changes it to custom, maybe that's what's going on here. Maybe the game does play well on default Hardcore.

I havent played since 28th coz I was out of town. I havent turned on my PS4, I purchased NBA 2k16 and like to play this coz of this confusion about tuners.

So I guess, if I want to play NHL, until EA resolved this stupidity, I should have my PS4 not connected to the net?

Just delete your profile file and don't go online with the game....I'm using default rosters with some adjusted sliders....game plays way better for now.

Ok so basically my issue was I using Hut to get coins and trophies lol this tuner has me crazy so to avoid the tuner update I will now create another ps4 account and stay off line to get and keep the pre 3/28 tuner so hopefully problem solved and Ill see if its plays like it used too ?

Were you able to walk all over the CPU on Pro though?

So I used up my 10 hours last week and was actually considering a purchase but it seems like Rammer and team are pulling a bait and switch lol... so I guess I'll hold off and see what comes of this tuner fiasco. Glad I popped in to check what was happening before I purchased it. Any word if they are actually gonna fix this or is it just wishful thinking by everyone ?
