NHL 16 News Post

Hey guys,

So Sean Ramjagsingh (Rammer to most of you) has asked openly on Twitter for feedback on the latest tuner, and what better place than here for him to get constructive feedback to use? So here is what I want to do:

Post your feedback on the new tuner. But there are a few guidelines.

Post whether you commenting on offline or online gameplay

Post if you have altered sliders (for offline)

Post how many games you have played with the new tuner

Post constructively

This way we can give accurate and meaningful feedback. Post videos if you'd like, but again - keep it constructive.

Here are the tuner notes (Thanks Jake19ny!):

SEPT 28 - TUNER

Gameplay
  • Improved poke collisions to address issues where a puck would be dislodged even when the puck or puck carriers stick were not contacted.
  • Increased speed of player controlled goalie when using precision motion.
  • Increased the pass error for the lowest pass accuracy slider settings.
  • Tuned down agility and ability to generate speed when turning tightly with protect puck.
  • Lessened the effect of the speed penalty on the puck carrier slightly when stickhandling a puck.
OTP/EASHL only
  • Turned down effectiveness of AI players in online faceoffs.
  • Goalie will commit more towards the shooter/puck side of the ice to guard against short side shots.
  • Lowered the threshold to which a player is able to receive/pick up a puck cleanly.
UPDATE: (9/29) We have removed “Increased the likelihood to trip a player when a pokecheck goes into the opponents skates or legs.” after many players have stated that it resulted in too many tripping penalties.

Computer hooked me twice in the video I posted above, and 3 times in another game I played later. And if it hooks, it will definitely slash too - they're triggered by the same move.

I haven't seen penalties from its body checking lately, though.

Sorry if posted earlier/elsewhere:
Could we pass along a rec to have tuner updates downloaded automatically, handled like rosters (should users with to revert)? At minimum get a notification prompt on nabbing 'em online?

Me too... why can't we have the option to pick which tuner we want? Seems like a simple solution to me!!!

I just played a game against the Sharks, me as the Rangers.

Sharks took 5 penalties
1 Charging
2 Tripping
2 Hooking

Rangers took 2 penalties
2 Hooking

I'm enjoying the game again but still enjoyed the game a bit more pre Sept 28/30 Tuner. I saw more variety of penalties in that version and I feel like the stoppage of plays were better. I'm no longer seeing the CPU go offside, Ice the puck, or have the puck leave the rink nearly enough now.

Come to mention it, in the 3 games I played today, I don't remember the computer ever dumping the puck in the zone once...what a joke this tuner bs is.

Just watched the cpu play each other and the cpu will now try to deke through three players instead of dumping the puck into the zone....I def noticed the cpu did it before these tuners because I remarked to my brother it was nice to see the cpu actually use some real strategies like dump and chase....this game is driving me crazy right now.

I don't like what they did with the tuner revision. AI was much better, and now it's just buffoonery out there.

Actually had it happen to me without going into an online game

I agree 100%. When I first played it after they removed the Tripping festival I thought it was good, but after a handful of games I'm realizing there is so much now missing. In fact someone else mentioned it and I agree. It now feels and plays just like NHL15. The game was near perfect before the September 28/30 tuner and I find it odd that all the things done in that tuner were not things I had seen people complaining about. Before that tuner NHL16 was well on its way to being the game we all wanted. Not perfect but many things were noticeable that were not in previous releases, like but not limited to....
Slightly Better Board Play
Slightly Better CPU defense
Slightly Better (Not Perfect) CPU teammate defense and AI
CPU Dump and chase
CPU offsides
CPU Icing puck
Pucks out of play
All these things are gone, Goalies are worse, and the overall feel of the game took a step backward. Very disappointed

Just played another full game and numerous times I swarmed the cpu at the blue line trying to get them to dump it and all they did was skate away and then pass it to another teammate and then that teammate would skate away repeat over and over again until I finally took the puck away....its a shame what this tuner has done to the game...absolute disgrace, they might as well have just sold us NHL hitz the way the cpu has no strategy anymore

Try my sliders out. CPU dumps and chases on me with the up to date tuner.

Is this true, because i don't have PS plus either? Unfortunately we cannot verify which tuner we have since they overwrite them anyway.

I was prompted now to download the latest tuner without going into an online game

Hmmm. I was never prompted for the tuner.

What the differences between this tuner and the previous?
Is this the 3rd tuner to be released since launch?

Which one is the better of them?

I believe this is the third. I believed the last one prior to revision was by far the best, but it seems you can only use the latest or revert to the original default tuning that shipped with the game.

The Sept 28th tuner I thought was fantastic. So I went out and bought the game , played yesterday and it was not like 2 days ago.

They'll get it going. I do agree that their should be an online tuner and an offline tuner. And we should have access to use all previous tuners if we so choose like the 360/ps3 versions

# 78 Money99 @ 10/01/15 09:10 AM
I hope they look into providing users the option to choose from the various tuners they drop.
You're probably never going to placate the masses with one all encompassing tuner.
Just look at this board; some loved the 28th tuner, while others hated it and love the new one.

It'd be nice to have a choice.

# 79 NDIrishRangers78 @ 10/01/15 09:35 AM
Exactly, we had that on last gen...,don't know why we can't have that on current gen....this game has so much potential ruined by this frigging tuner it's unbelievable.

So what exactly are the pro's/con's of the 30th tuner compared to 28th?

Or what did the 28th do better than the 30th?
