I am thinking this also. For the demo that is fine. But if the retail game has to always have internet access to even play a completely offline mode I am not buying it. Which stinks as I actually like the game a whole lot.

I was gonna purchase last night but have to wait until the release and someone can assure me you can play without internet connected.

You won't need to be connected to play Live retail. You will to receive Synergy updates and roster updates, but not to just play the game. Proam, of course you'll need to be online as well.

The demo is digital only, so to ensure that it's still in the "demo period" online is required initially. I was able to sign out of the EA servers last night though, and didn't get kicked from the game.

I assure you, it's a demo-only thing.

Thanks gents, I will purchase as am online often enough to update and stuff just not all the time. I like dynasty mode and never care much if the synergy thing updates. Rosters I usually update every month or so.

Thanks WTF and mrprice33

My internet issue clarified (a parent/quest problem)

Here are what I like in the game.

- player off ball movement
- new shooting (this meter is useable, way more than any I know of)
- better defensive animations (like steals swiping correctly)
- graphics look great
- my created player looks good (even the generic faces look like actual people)
- spacing on the floor seems good
- handoff is pretty awesome addition
- Lebron seems always mad (moving from South Beach to Cleveland this makes sense) *this is just a joke

Cons

- I miss Lillard (he was adorable)
- rebounding seems to have no reasoning, one guy gets the borad others do not but why is what I am not seeing
- kinda hard to find a balance game seems way easy on lower difficulties and really hard on higher (sliders probs fix this and I am still learning play calling and running the plays I call)
- my CPU teammates do not react to pick and rolls against us like the CPU does when I use it.

I really like the game and can see this being a long lasting dynasty game for me.

Initially I did not like the demo. However with the recent Synergy update + adjusting shooting sliders (shooting% was sway too high for both cpu and user) and adjusting the camera from default to BASELINE LOW - I'm really digging the game now and probably will purchase the retail version when it releases.

WTF - is the Live team aware of the late game AI mishaps and will they FINALLY address this 2-year issue with an update patch?

This is unacceptable IMO to have this bug/glitch for the 3rd consecutive year. It completely ruins the game experience when the score is close towards the end of the 4th quarter.

If you like Live 16, great. Rock out! Options are good. But everyone has a right to feel however it is they do about the product. That's the point of the demo. And if they don't like it, it doesn't mean that they are playing it like 2K; or they have their minds set on hating on Live or any other excuse that flies around here. They may just not feel it. There are a bevy of places to get impressions outside of here like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc. Many are saying the same stuff. It's not some vast conspiracy, man. You said yourself that Live may not be for everyone. Just leave it at that.

Hey Traceur, I've forwarded all instances I've found of it from the demo, and they're not able to replicate it in the retail w/ day 1 patch. I know that I hadn't seen any occurrence of it while down there.

Pretty certain that all instances are fixed.

Hoping the day one patch addresses it as it is terrible.
I saw 2 attempts in about 12 games played...

Hopefully this gets tweaked with the retail version.

Now having said that i didn't like the way it was executed by the CPu looked rather clumsy so i jacked up their Alley Oop succes rate slider hoping that will make the play evolve more realistic for them when they do attempt it.

They don't abuse the alley oop which is why i don't have a problem with it the slider being raised higher.

I honestly just haven't seen many new animations that affect gameplay (obviously other than the highly advertised dribble handoffs). Haven't seen any new dunks. Some layup animations still don't very good and are completely unrealistic and not contextual. Shots close to the basket still use the same old clunky, awkward animations as in year's past. And usually these shots cannot be stopped defensively. Passing is still bad, and slow to animate, which results in turnovers.

The defensive assist button L2(LT) still doesn't feel like it actually does anything. A lot of times I'll press triangle (sometimes I'll even have to press it twice) to block a shot and nothing happens. (That's usually with my Live Run player; possibly because my block shot rating is extremely low?)

In general the game just feels slow. Players lack speed or burst; Live 15 was the same way. I don't know if EA moved in this direction because they thought it would appease sim fans, but it takes some excitement out of the game, and from a real life game featuring some of the fastest and greatest athletes in the world.

To my surprise, Live Run is incredibly fun -- didn't expect to have as much fun as I have. It was a really great idea for EA to force people to play to develop their skills as opposed to letting people pay money to become better players. Hopefully it stays that way.

The Live Companion app seems like a bad joke on many with Android phones, as the front-facing cameras vary amongst all the different phone models, and for some phones (like my HTC One m7), the app is just incapable of scanning your face. I had to scan with my girlfriend's iPhone 5s.

All that said, I am looking forward to next Friday ... when 2K16 arrives.

just wanted to add ... after playing the game for a little more, I have just come to appreciate Live for what it is. No, it's not nearly the game that 2k is (and has far less features), but it still provides me some fun. The graphics and stadium sounds/environments alone are immersive enough to make it feel like I am participating in a live TV broadcast game. There will be room on my shelf for this game alongside 2K16.

Potential is there for a really good game. Day one patch will be big. They need tp get that right and release extensive patch notes.
I keep hearing that a big day one patch is coming, but I don't remember seeing any EA developer or Sean O' Brien mention this. Next when they gave us a patch last year for Live 15 I remember it fixing some issues and bringing about newer problems in the game. I understand that all games have flaws out the box, but why is this game continuing to have these many game-play issues out of the box? How many excuses are we going to give them?

I can't stress this enough.

None of last year's "bug fixes" nonsense. We need full change lists so EA can't just sit back and watch placebo type comments with every patch.

Don't forget that the game isn't out for another 10 days. Most games that you play on release day have some kind of patch applied when you first install them. It just so happens here that we are getting info well in advance of release day.

The more i play, the more i like it... the more i play, the more i get frustrated. I can see this will be another love-hate relationship again... hopefully the patch fixes a lot of my issues. But i will wait for price drop before i purchase.

Kinda unrelated but just had the best gaming experience ever and was not playing the game. Went to my local bike shop to get a chain link. There was this good looking athletic looking guy there and I stepped out of my comfort zone and smiled big!

He kinda laughed at me but then said hello. I asked him if he knew of NBA Live and the new face scan. He basically was not a gamer. After a lot of jokes and the whole bike shop crew (I work there part time) laughing at me. The guy agreed to be my NBA Live game face!

So, I pop out the iPhone and we scan him. Pretty funny all and all but now I have a game face! A random stranger danger game face. Plus a little more self confidence.

I know off topic but that was my Live experience for today. Now, to see how it looks in the game...

Lol it would be cool to have some female player models in the pro am . I wonder if WNBA players will ever be guest featured in an NBA game .

Should have gotten his number "just in case the scan didn't upload"

I have played numerous games and this demo is worse than Live 15. Way too much skating...superstar level way too easy...fg percentages way to high...announcing is worse than last years...controls very slugglish...the new camera angle is really good. I was wishing live 16 was going to be my basketball game this year but very disappointed in this year's effort.
