Honestly, 2k just needs to hire someone (preferably me) to pour over countless hours of broadcasts and photos for arenas and players to get it all right.
I think some people are getting too touchy about other people's opinions..no one's acting like 16 is graphically worse than 14 or 15, they're just saying if you mixed in aspects of other games with the scans and animations now, that you'd have a nearly perfect thing.
No one's acting like 14's lighting compared to the little we've seen now makes the game look like a PS1 game lol what. They're just saying if they focused on the little details a bit more this game could really push the boundaries of what consoles can do...
"Complaining" and constructive criticism are very different. Most people here are 2K fans, and we just wanna see the game play and look the best it can.
And I don't really wanna analyse the body scans yet...we barely seen any full body shots. I wanna see guys like Tayshaun Prince and Giannis...and I really really really hope we can actually have different bodies in my career but I'm not holding out too much hope.
If anything about these shots can be truly picked out, I'd say that hair on Steph Curry is the one main thing they gotta fix...idk what that's all about.

We really going to do the "nobody is acting like this" thing here? Sometimes that's very true and it is a bit of overreacting. This isn't one of those times.
I mean, except for the part where we actually have people in the last few days saying the exact words that lightning and graphics have gotten worse and not made any substantial improvements since 14, yeah, yeah you're right I guess.

Lighting has gotten worse since 14 (I don't think there's many people here that are disputing this!), and while graphics in general have improved (player likenesses, skin textures, shoe scans), whether they are "substantial improvements" is debatable. (Not to mention the courts themselves have seen a reduction in quality.)
Seriously why does it matter. 2k15 and it's slightly crappier lighting > almost every other sports game ever.
It's still of this generation. 2k15 looked REALLY good. Anyone who thinks it didn't, go play fifa 15 or 2k13.
Gameplay and gamemodes are what make this replayable. It could be the same graphics for the next 2 years and it would still be on the same level as most other games, that's how great they are. And I don't see why it matters unless they start getting progressively worse.
People are being nit picky. Oh the third hair on Steph Curry's left eyebrow is out of place by at least a 45 degree angle. They scanned his head. If his hair looks crap it's because his hair looked crap on that day. Simple.
Sports games fans are spoiled little punks and I mean ALL fans. I include myself in this. I'm just so tired of all the negativity.
Look at the gap between games in the Mass Effect, Borderlands, Grand Theft Auto or Mafia franchises. Look at how long people have to wait. And sports fans get a new game every year. And if the developers don't reinvent the entire genre every year they're accosted for being lazy or not doing their job right. They have one year to improve on these games. And the depth they add to game modes is unreal. The gameplay always has issues but let's not pretend like it hasn't improved. Yes there's certain aspects from previous games you would like to see return but I dare anyone to go back and play 2k12 and tell me 2k15 doesn't feel and play better.
GTA IV was released in 2008. GTA V (next gen version) in 2014. That's 6 years.
Go back to 2k10 after 2k16 trailers drop and tell me they haven't made an equivalent or maybe even bigger leap graphically than R* did with GTA. Go ahead.
The graphics aren't bad. You could play with these graphics for another couple years and it would be absolutely fine if the gameplay was good enough and the modes had enough depth to them.
Surely I'm not the only person that feels this way?
I love great looking games and there's always room to improve. But that's part of the issue. There will ALWAYS be room to improve. Appreciate what we've got, because not to long ago we were playing with this...
Spoiler
Umm, yeah, that's your opinion, that's fine. But it's clear that a fair amount of people do care about these sort of things. Just because it makes you or others uncomfortable doesn't mean that people shouldn't be allowed to voice their opinion/assessment/observations ... especially when it's in a constructive way. As cthurt said earlier, we all (well, nearly everyone here) play this game, so most people are just pointing out things that [they feel] can make the game better/more realistic for us all. It's not always a thing where we're ripping the game that you know & love, it's not that personal.
Some of these guys cannot accept constructive criticism for 2k. All they want to see is everyone praising the game no matter what. The truth hurts sometimes, you just got to accept it.
What I don't get is OS can have a thread for correct hair styles, something that you wont even take much notice of unless its a cut scene get posted at the top of the board, but when more then a few people say that they don't like 2ks lighting something that's obvious as soon as you play the game its nit picking and ripping the game?
Bottom line is last time I checked 2k wasn't giving the game out for free on a yearly basis so if I or anyone else wants to voice their opinion, about the game that they purchased then let it be.
It doesn't make me uncomfortable I just think it's absolutely pathetic. People don't appreciate how incredible these graphics are. Maybe it's because they're young so didn't suffer through the games a lot of people on here did. But it just seems to me like people have no understanding of how mind blowing today's stuff is. These are the graphics I dreamed of as a youngster.
Yeah but if we all thought like that (i.e., "take what they give us, don't point out things that don't look right, because I remember the days when games comprised of a single pixel"), then game designers would be doing whatever they wanted with their games with NO regard for what their consumers feel or want to see in the game. As consumers we don't make the decisions, but they do give some weight to what is being said in the gaming community. 2K Sports more than any other company (such as EA, especially in terms of Madden ) is well known for listening to customer feedback.
And, for the record, I'm no yungin', I've been playing virtual basketball games since Double Dribble, and Jordan vs. Bird
I do think this is part of the issue. I really don't know much about the consoles but aren't they weaker than what people expected?
If 2K has already reached it's peak in the graphics department this early into the console cycle, then I'm a little worried lol. At least in the last gen they didn't reach it's peak until like the 4th year.
MikeGSW I understand everything you are trying to say, but I must ask you this, you said the game looks great already right? So will a few guys at OS complaining about the lighting make 2k15 or 2k16 look any different to you?? See this is what I don't understand about some of you, if someone makes a complaint about something that I like about the game it doesn't bother me you know why, because I will still enjoy it, now if we were complaining and wanted something to be removed that you like then that's another story, but people are asking for something to be added to the game and like you said it can always look better so why just settle and stay content.
I already said the lighting needs to improve and was better in 2k14.
But I don't see why that's being discussed for a gazillion pages.
Person A "The lighting needs improved"
Person B "I prefer the warmer tones"
Person A " each to their own I guess"
Person B "aside from the lighting the game does seem to improve every year though right?
Person A "oh yeah definitely. There's always room for more improvement though"
End of discussion.
Now let's start talking about stuff that will actually influence how long you play the game for and how enjoyable it is... like... oh I don't know. Game modes and the depth of those modes? Gameplay and improvements needed?
Maybe it is just me. I love great looking games but at some point a game just looks great and that's that. Improvements can be made but they're not make or break.
It would be different if it was just a bad looking game but it's not. In the slightest. It looks incredible.
Its a screenshot thread so if we were to talk gameplay we would be told to stay on the topic, so I am not understanding your points.
People have been discussing Curry's hair for 30+ pages. It must be this whole "modern man" and "metrosexual" movement like Glee and Jersey Shore and the other stuff I don't get.
lol, ok man, stop, just stop. Does that make all of us here that cares about fashion like having ill SHOES "metrosexual" too? Do you wear a uniform everyday, aka have no sense of style, jeans and plain white tee? lol
I don't have an issue with constructive criticism. I just think some of this goes way beyond that. It's finding things for the sake of finding things. And I'm confident these guys want to better themselves and get better jobs therefore doing their job well shouldn't be an issue. The major stuff will get fixed. It always does.
I'm not saying settle. I'm saying appreciate what you've got. Don't complain. Give constructive criticism. And just state it and bounce. Lighting and hair doesn't need to be a 30 page debate. I'm with you on the lighting. 2k14 was better in that regard. But that's all that needs to be said. It doesn't need to turn into such a big deal. And I'm talking more about the complaints of ashy elbows and hair being marginally roo spikey or whatever. Like come on. I remember when hair looked painted on. Give me a break. They improve every year with or without people whining.
And it's not constructive criticism if you don't offer a solution or idea on how to make it better. Without that you're just moaning.
And we haven't even seen any video footage yet. People are blowing their brains out over a few screen grabs smh.
I understand and your right it has blown up over the past few days, but some of the same guys complaining about hair and ashy elbows are the, same ones saying guys like me are nit picking about the lighting. Lol
