I don't have an issue with constructive criticism. I just think some of this goes way beyond that. It's finding things for the sake of finding things. And I'm confident these guys want to better themselves and get better jobs therefore doing their job well shouldn't be an issue. The major stuff will get fixed. It always does.
I'm not saying settle. I'm saying appreciate what you've got. Don't complain. Give constructive criticism. And just state it and bounce. Lighting and hair doesn't need to be a 30 page debate. I'm with you on the lighting. 2k14 was better in that regard. But that's all that needs to be said. It doesn't need to turn into such a big deal. And I'm talking more about the complaints of ashy elbows and hair being marginally roo spikey or whatever. Like come on. I remember when hair looked painted on. Give me a break. They improve every year with or without people whining.
And it's not constructive criticism if you don't offer a solution or idea on how to make it better. Without that you're just moaning.
And we haven't even seen any video footage yet. People are blowing their brains out over a few screen grabs smh.
Knowing 2k they won't really listen unless we make it loud. Look at the fate of crew. How many years did it take for 2k to finally bring it back even though there were many shouting and screaming for it over a while? If we keep quiet then 2k will not know exactly what to improve on. It's not as simple as you are making it seem.
Hahaha. Okay you got me. I'm saying why has three still images generated 30 pages of people bitching? Like how long can we discuss Stephen Curry's pubes or whatever we're onto now.
This topic should have ended 20 pages ago with everyone agreeing it looks awesome. Lighting needs work but that depends on preference (whether you like the warmer tones) and Curry's hair needs fixed a little.
Can't wait for video.
Why has THAT^ taken 30+ pages and we're still not there yet.
I don't get it. Sorry. Clearly I'm in the minority here. Might actually be the only one. But I can't wrap my head around why a dudes hair gets a 30 page discussion while threads about actual basketball related stuff barely cracks 10 pages.
Are we basketball fans or hair stylists?
Look my man Im not saying you are wrong for feeling how you feel, you have made some good points, but its nothing for you to understand lol people will feel how they feel about certain things in different ways its life.
Right. But you've said all that needs to be said in one post. So why is it still being discussed 30 pages later?
It's lighting. It looked better in 2k14. I agree.
But does the lighting in 2k15 stop you from playing it? Nah.
Again. Constructive criticism. Say what you believe can be better. Say how it could be improved, as specific as possible. Discuss a little and then that's it.
30 pages? 30 freaking pages?
Also I already clarified I'm talking more about the nit picky things than the lighting.
Go back to those pages. We got guys like you disagreeing and not letting the discussion die. And you're the only one who seems to care about how long this discussion is. I don't at all, we finally have something interesting to talk about besides gameplay and game modes.
Curry's hair is an interesting thing to talk about? Smh. Okay buddy.
My point was the discussion seems unnecessarily long. For hair.
But hey you wanna be an A-hole about it? Fine by me. I can do that to.
I'll stick to the things that are actually interesting. Like gameplay and game modes. You know, the things that make basketball games... well... basketball games.
Yeah. I'll stick to discussing the sport. You stick to discussing hair styles and who needs their eye brows done. Seems fair. Each to their own.
I'll let you get back to your debate now. Apologies for my insanity and irrational thoughts. I didn't mean to distract you from hairstyles with all my talk about sports video games.
Bye now.
LOL dude I have no worries about the gameplay and game modes. We have those discussions all the time. Now we have something a little different and you want to complain. I'm a graphics dude because im studying it in college. We have different tastes buddy, you can't criticize someone for having different interests than you.
They don't have to do anything about it. I prefer the lighting in 2k14 as well but guess what. There isn't a right and wrong. It's preference. It's not a glitch or an exploit. It's a creative difference. A disagreement. There's no right answer.
And yes message boards are for discussing. It doesn't mean you discuss a guys hair for 30 pages when you could've finished the discussion in 10. I mean come on. How about we discuss the basketball aspect of the basketball game? We can discuss the hair more after they release the "My Lovely Unicorn Spa and Beauty Salon" DLC.
What are you talking about? It has nothing to do with preference. 2k is attempting to realistically replicate the nba in a video game. The lighting in 2k14 is closer to the lighting in a real nba game. It has nothing to do with preference. There is a right answer, you go with whatever lighting gets you closest to an accurate representation of an nba arena
I do think this is part of the issue. I really don't know much about the consoles but aren't they weaker than what people expected?
They are, but that's not the issue here. There are games that are technically way more advanced and have amazing graphics. The reason they look the way they do is because of development cycles. Yearly sports titles have a tendency to look really similar year to year because of the short cycles and you only start noticing the improvements over a set number of years. For example:
Spoiler
2k6 (which looked amazing at the time)
2k7
2k8 (this was considered a downgrade, but it's obviously getting closer to looking realistic)
2k9
2k10
2k11(probably the most cohesive game they've had)
2k12
2k13
2k14
And this is to show 2k15 isn't as bad as people make it out to be. The skintones look closer to reality but reflections and player models took a hit:
I'm 40...so I grew up on Atari and Nintendo. And I think the lighting in 2K15, and now 2K16, stinks. How about that?
Yes, the graphics still look damn good. Nobody is questioning that. But if they can look even better, with better lighting, why in the heck would they not do it??
And the reason people are bothered by it is because they had MUCH better lighting 2 years ago!!!
NO EXCUSES!
I'm 35 and I thought the lighting in 2k14 was far too extreme. See how we can play this? I thought the exaggerated reflections on the court made the court look like a tan colored hockey rink. I thought the skin textures made the players look like clay figures up close. Here's the thing though...these consoles don't have infinite power. For every enhancement and addition...like better skin textures and animations...something will have to get scaled back. You being as old as you are and as experienced with video games should have a strong grasp of that. So if sweat is cut back or SSR is not as prominent...hell, if the lighting system had to be scaled back it's not because of gross negligence or lazy programming. I'm sure if 2K artists could max out every detail without losing performance they would. Do I wish there was a more realistic, vibrant lighting solution in 2k16...yup. Do I wish arenas were more detailed...yup. Do I realize that both consoles are being pushed by 2k as far or farther than any other sports game out there...yup. So I enjoy the game for its visual strengths and hope as technology continues to advance one day we get what everyone on this forum is always clamoring for.
What are you talking about? It has nothing to do with preference. 2k is attempting to realistically replicate the nba in a video game. The lighting in 2k14 is closer to the lighting in a real nba game. It has nothing to do with preference. Uhh... no. It's preference. What you think looks realistic isn't what others think (see oldheads post). The fact that you can't see this tells me everything I need to know about you.
Enjoy your hairstyle debate. I'm out.
Bye.
What are you speaking about. The way nba stadiums are lighted isn't some opinion based thing. It's some thing that stays relatively constant throughout the course of an 82 game season. It's not different than the logo in the center of the court.
If the seats are dark in the back of the Pelicans arena that should be reflected in the game. If Staples is a bright arena that should be reflected. The way players are lighted should reflect the brightness of the arena. It's not a matter of opinion, just compare a real nba game to nba 2k, and try to reflect that lighting in the game. Nba 2k14 came closest to that
People have been discussing Curry's hair for 30+ pages. It must be this whole "modern man" and "metrosexual" movement like Glee and Jersey Shore and the other stuff I don't get.
It's his hair. How often are you going to look at that in the game? It seems a little off yeah and if they were to scan his head again or edit it then great. If not whatever. As a basketball fan I'm more concerned about his jump shot. **** his hair. Shave him for all I care, can he ball?
I'm going to be looking at him pretty much every moment of the game, because I'm playing as GSW. As a GSW fan I would think you'd actually want him to resemble himself as much as possible in the first game he's the cover athlete for.
2K just needs to take off some length from the front and top and it would be a pretty close match to his Finals appearance.
Umm, you realize this thread is about 3 pics that were released, right? So of course there's gonna be tons of discussion about the graphics.
You said you wanna "discuss the the basketball aspect of it"? What does that even mean? From these 3 pics, we're supposed to discuss what exactly? Besides graphics, that is.
You tell us.
WISports, did you not get understand what he was trying to tell us?
In other words, state your opinion/observation once, STFU, and keep it moving! lol
I mean, if it was important to me that's what I would do instead of all the regurgitation...but I'm assuming we'll be dealing with this after every pic drops, lol
