I remember last year how every tidbit of the trailers and videos were gone through by some frame by frame to find out what we were getting for 14.They made threads about the information they found and saw no matter what they saw or found there was those that were excited and those that were disappointed. Like Russell said you can't please everyone. If your not happy with the 1 minute trailer maybe you should " wait and see " before calling it the same as last years rendition, then if you don't like it don't make the purchase.JMHO

I just read your full post on the other thread, and I agree fully with your sentiments. I guess all we can do at this point is hope that there are plenty of additional improvements we have yet to hear about and that this is just the case of a really poor trailer. Who knows? Maybe they were rushed to get the trailer out by 12/15 and did what they could to meet the deadline.

I have faith in Ramone and SCEA.

Because for me it was the reason I despised the MVP series and MLB 2K7, assuming it's the same thing (which is a poor thing to do). Aiming left and right to hit left and right is completely fine, and borderline more rewarding than the current system we have. Down for ground ball and up for fly ball leads to a lot of problems, especially when my natural inclination is to aim down on a low pitch and up on a high pitch, which would be an ill-advised practice in this sport. I have a massive post on this for which it could work ("chop" vs. "upper cut", but I have no idea where it is.

I just don't like it as a left stick guide for fly balls and ground balls. Some games touted swinging up to hit home runs, others made it so that almost no matter what it would always produce a fly ball, etc. I'm more for swinging in the proper zone and letting my timing/player's abilities dictate the rest. Like I said, push/pull with the left stick is fine. Heck, even aiming up to swing "more downward" and aiming down to swing "more upward" would be fine as to say that's what would produce the most line drives, an ideal hit type.

However, as I am decidedly speculating on what this would be based on years of playing games that have a feature called directional hitting, I would option not to use it, and stick with a somewhat clunky, though very serviceable, zone hitting method. As long as it stays in the game, I will be very satisfied no matter what this other feature is... and if it happens to better my situation, well then I will use it and thank SCEA for the new feature.

Though to bring this back full circle, this was ideally a gamebreaker for me when it came to MVP (though I did own 2005) and 2K7. Yes, one could choose not to use the stick at all... but that's just not how I play (ala "timing hitting" I suppose) and I feel like you're probably reducing your hit variety if you do that.

I'll go hunting for my old post on the matter of proper directional hitting.

Listening to the PSNation Podcast, confirmed that the Radio Show is Franchise related with updates around the league and what not

Also most new gameplay features in Franchise history? New tidbit eh?

Does more uniform slots count as a new gameplay feature? Is that something we're going to find out about when it's out?

I was way underwhelmed with '14 so I'm still holding out hope that they took a few risks this year. Like some have said, I think the trailer was probably exclusively meant to show of Puig. This early on, there's no telling how close that kind of footage is to being what the final product looks like.

All in all, I'm in wait and see mode. I think The Show went from the best or one of he best sports titles to being lost somewhere in the middle, last year. I care less about the visuals and more about them upgrading presentation, giving us more gameplay variety, and continuing to add to an already solid Franchise Mode.

Only disappointing thing for me: any extra focus on Diamond Dynasty is too much, IMO.

Forgive me if I win the stupid question of the day award with this one, but with the carryover from one year to the next, I am assuming that the season does not need to be complete to carry it over to '15?

From everything I can gather, correct.

Ramone confirmed on the ps nation podcast that sounds of the show will not be in MLB 15 ps4. Strongly implied that we'll see Louisville slugger and Rawlings in the game. Ramone said they were able to get most of the big companies in baseball.

I'm not sure why it would have to be complete but some are cautiously optimistic and are still waiting for confirmation.

EDIT: I'm saddened I didn't rethink about the fact that this is also why I haven't much liked VC's MLB 2K series before they kicked the bucket. Everything about it was a passable, playable, and enjoyable game except for its hitting engine. Laggy input control, iffy check swing system, and directional hitting. The swing stick made you choose between power and contact. The Show has the same discrepancy, but at least they also offer a "normal" swing as the standard.

In 2K, the power swing FB:GB ratio was too high and home runs were few and far between with contact. You also couldn't get away with it unless you chose the swing stick. Classic swing was one-button swinging, but they chose for you on each pitch what kind of swing they would use, so sliders didn't fix this. The directional hitting didn't help much the same, either.

All that said, I did own 2K10 and 2K13 and wanted to enjoy both of them, but I doubt I've even played more than ten full games on either one. It's sad, because the hitting model causes issues with FB/GB stuff IMO. I just hope whatever SCEA is doing, they thought long and hard about the repercussions of using the control in a certain way and not at all at the same time. I also hope Zone hitting remains, otherwise it might fall in exactly where 2K and MVP were.

Has anyone heard if they are bringing back the player lock feature for MLB 15 The Show?
