MLB 15 The Show News Post

MLB 15 The Show will feature licensed equipment this year. Check out the trailer here. The trailer also mentions legends coming this year, so you guys can talk about that.

The game ships on March 31, 2015 for PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

Below are a few key features that were announced.

The 10th edition of the franchise, MLB 15 The Show is a more immersive and exciting baseball experience than ever before with substantial improvements to both gameplay and graphics.

Licensed Equipment – For the first time ever, partnerships from various brands will bring accurate bats, gloves, cleats, and batting gloves to the game.

Year-to-Year Saves – Users who purchased MLB 14 The Show will be able to continue their Franchise and Road to the Show progress in MLB 15 The Show. Saves between the two releases will be forward-compatible, meaning you never have to worry about starting your Franchise or Road to the Show seasons over!

Universal Rewards – Simply playing the game earns Stubs that can be spent on licensed equipment, Road to The Show improvements, and virtual baseball cards

Very underwhelming reveal trailer. While licensed equipment is great and all, I'd hardly call it a "back of the box" feature in 2015. The graphics don't look like they made the same jump Madden, 2K, etc. have made with their titles.

The fact that Legends got its own tag line is potentially a pretty big deal.

There are already Bat Boys in MLB 14 The Show.

Do you mean the bat Boys are placed in a more appropriate safe spot?

Legends? So they wasted money on licensing players who probably won't bring in more sales, and who people could just make for free and put in the vault?

Unless there's something more to this, and there very well may be, I'm just not understanding the decision.

Pretty dissapointed with that snippet.
I can't argue with you at all here. I was really disappointed seeing that. I'm hoping this isn't what it will look like since we are so long away from release, but if it is I will be very disappointed. I definitely thought this year the visuals would take a bigger leap over last year, and so far I don't see anything different. I understand the argument of keeping the game at 60 FPS but I would think with the new technology there would be a way to improve the visuals as well. I'm no programming expert though so I can't really comment on the technicalities. It's extremely early though so I won't make big judgements yet, but with this as a first impression I'm not satisfied. It will take some really good gameplay improvements and owner mode improvements to draw me in if these visuals are truly what we will see.

It's sweet they added equipment though. The last baseball game to have that was NCAA 06 if I'm not mistaken. Maybe 2k did but the last three years of that game I didn't play because I got a PS3 for The Show.

I don't doubt there is, but this seems like the time to make the biggest reveals to pump the game up.

Honestly? I couldn't care less if the blue batting gloves have a Nike swoosh or not on it. Sounds more like an advertising ploy than anything that's going to change the game. Legends? We have enough batting stances and user creation tools to make them. Year to year saves are cool...but honestly...what an underwhelming reveal.

Not a single thing I find exciting. You'd think if they had new presentation/broadcast crew that'd be among the first things they'd reveal, not later. Or something else that may improve the core gameplay. This is all...frills. And really, somewhat inconsequential frills.

I have to agree with you about the graphics. As soon as I started watching the trailer I said to myself O crap looks almost exactly like 14. I mean like I said before MLB 14 The Show is a very pretty game. I just feel it has that PS3 port look to it. And I was really hoping MLB 15 The Show would have a whole new "Next Gen" look to it which going by this trailer it clearly does not. But to be perfectly honest as long as Sony keeps adding a lot of the little details and continue to improve the game play then even with PS3 port like looks I will still enjoy the heck out of this game year after year. But man how great would it be if someday soon MLB The Show looked just as good as NBA 2K15 on PS4.

Maybe MLB The Show does not look as good as NBA 2K15 is because there is just so much more going on in a baseball stadium compared to NBA Arenas?

I'm honestly disappointed with the graphics 😭😭

The cover just makes me think of "execute order 66".

Hopefully they improve on player models before release because they looked very underwhelming in this trailer.

Ive always thought 16 was going to be the firs big graphics overhaul. It will be the first version with a full dev cycle. And until the PS3 version stops being made it will never be as good as it could be.

Well then lets all pray that this will be the last year for the PS3 version.

i dont know why everyone is complaining about the player models. i think the players look really good every year.

and legends will be sick.
I think legends will be fun...but they seem...like...when you put a rug over the stain on the carpet in hopes you forget there's a problem. The commentary and presentation need to be revamped far more than we need the availablity to hit as a liscenced Ken Griffey JR in HR Derby mode (and the user created Griffey's for example, were wonderful as is).

The legends won't change the landscape of anything outside of exhibition or maybe some of the card-collecting modes. They'll be fun...but feel frilly. Not necessity. I'd rather get more necessities down pat and add frilly stuff as DLC's (check out EA Sports UFC for a better blue print of that. They've added wonderful content throughout the year after getting a pretty good base down).

I'll have to agree with you on this, actually I was thinking more mlb 17 or 18 right when the ps3 version is phased out. I recall alot of complaints about player models alligator arms for years on the ps3 and it wasn't until mlb 9 or 10 when that finally changed. And it wasn't until mlb 11 where they were really hitting their strides with graphics and game play. It sucks having to wait a few years into the development cycle of a new Gen console. But with a crew as small as the shows and working on 3 sku's at the same time, they do do a damn good job on putting out a solid playable game year after year.

Licenced equipment is good because in RTTS we might get sponsorships and stuff like that. This will add to a more immersive experience
