Shooting jumpers isn't a whole lot of fun because of the quick releases. It's more of a "I'll just release it early and hope I get a good release" than it is skill. And it's not a matter of just being different than 2K, it's just really hard to get a "feel" for shooting in Live. I wish this is something they could patch, but I'm guessing it isn't.

The other is player differentiation. It's there, but not quite to the extent that it should be. There's still a bit too much generic-ness in there for my liking.
I pretty much agree with this post through and through. I made a Dynasty Mode and will play it and enjoy the heck out of it...but not as much I think I could if a few things were different.

Definitely happy with my choice to get the game, the effort by the devs is overly apparent. But it's a year away from being my main basketball game, at least.

Play around with these to see what best fits your needs. Along with calling for the double team tips that were given a few pages back.
Never knew this existed.

Thanks

Ok now that we are discussing double taps, lets do double taps on the offensive end.

Double up - screen
Double right - post up
Double down - cut
Double left - iso

Now where double changes from single taps (which call the same plays) is that you get player icons.

Great.

My question is, then what? What I mean is this, I will double tap cut, then the icons appear, then I pick a player's icon and press it. Often they won't do anything. But when they do something there is a wrong mechanic in place, logic would say if you choose to cut icon B then they would automatically inherit the white pass icon. But they don't.

Because of this, if you have an SF down near a corner and your SG closer to you and you make your SF go on a cut, depending on where he goes makes it really difficult to focus the white passing icon on him. Because A) your SG is closer and B) It can be really tricky to assign the white passing icon to someone who is moving

The change I would suggest to EA is to just have the white passing icon stay assigned to the player you call a play for, for about 2 seconds. That would give you enough time to get the ball to them.

If somebody is good at running these icon based plays and has some tips fire them out here.

The fun factor is higher for me in Live. I would consider myself a casual gamer, and a basketball fan - not so much a master tactician. I really don't have any gripes with gameplay that I would consider a show killer to this point. My biggest complaint is probably the lack of classic teams or legends in the general free agent pool.

I will likely keep both and one for classic teams and use Live strictly for NBA 2014-2015 roster play.
Live is starting to be like the other game with point blank layups being missed imo

This drove me crazy. Why I stopped playing it and came over to Live. Sounds like missed layups and missed short shots is chasing me from game to game!

Is this happening too frequently? Otherwise, that happens in the league. I actually like the misses unless I'm on a fastbreak and miss it which I haven't seen happen.

I'm not missing an overabundance of layups. Contested layups and layups in traffic seem toned down, which is a good thing. That's a direct correlation to the issues that I seen posted over here. I've seen a few situations where the battle on offensive rebounds and continuous putbacks created some great moments.

I haven't played today, but unless something changed I haven't had issues missing lay ups...in fact, unless my attempt is blocked, most of the animations can't be interrupted so it's $$

There were definitely more misses in the paint last night/yesterday. I think there was one possession Sixers(me) at Pacers that there were at least 4 misses around the paint, finished with a Noel Block which Scola recovered and tapped in. Very slick.

It could be an isolated incident though. I've not stayed home long enough to test further. Stinking grown up life.

So I just started a Dynasty today, and I have it set to manual subs. It appears that once again, this means that the CPU won't make any subs, unless I'm missing something. Absolutely ridiculous that this is happening again.

Happened to me offline here, a FT miss on a great release...is this a glitch or what?

Yeah the CPU hits too high of a rate of all net jumpers. I would like to see some variety, like some bank shots from distance, some rim bouncers, rim rollers, etc.

Ok, I really most times chose to stay away from negativity when it comes to things, but, I wonder...are you gentlemen choosing to overlook certain aspects of fundamental basketball?? And basketball video games??...you must be able to go out of bounds!! It's a crucial part of the game, live 15, doesn't allow you to go out of bounds! This must be fixed before I can praise this game any at all! Let's not talk about the way offenses are ran on this game, even with automotion on, there is still very little off ball movement. So, before we can have a debate on how good of game play this game has, these fundamental things must be fixed to even have a discussion in my book. I'm playing on the PS4 if that's a difference in any of this...

I've played at least 15 games and I'm not seeing this, I actually almost believe the opposite, use the Bucks and I have 4-5 players who can get to the rim and score consistently.

Wait a minute. There is no OOB???

Try running your guy out of bounds anywhere on the floor ANYWHERE. Tell me what happens. I'll wait...lol

That is correct, you can't go out of bounds anywhere. I noticed this when I was trapping the post and doing full court traps, the CPU would slide around it and I was thinking how is that not out of bounds. You see the CPU do it a lot along the baseline.

I then purposely tried to go out of bounds all over the place, nope, you hit an invisible wall and just glide along it all the way to the rim.

I can't believe this. I knew there would be something that would make me say WTF??? Some things I can overlook but a feature as important as this can't be.

What was EA thinking?? I'm trying to stay positive but this, Nash and Randle still in my Laker lineup is flat out WHACKED!!! 3's are still money. I was under the impression that things would update hours after the games.

As much as I like this game and the fun factor I have to have some basic features though

Yes, this aspect blows me away, that this has to be pointed out to them, I get the feeling this game is made by a bunch of programmers and coders with little love and understanding of the actual game of basketball. IMO, that's what separates this game and 2K, those dudes have a devotion of love and commitment, they are genuine fans of the game and it's reflective in the final product.
