NBA Live 15 News Post

EA Sports has just released their NBA Live 15 improved visuals trailer. They have also released the NBA Live 15 features list.

Let us know what you think!

Lights, Camera, Action
We’re doubling down on visuals with an all-new scanning and lightning technique for the most photo-realistic player models in franchise history. Add into the mix player specific body types and contextual emotional responses and you will truly feel like you’re in the action.

Real-Time Physics in the Paint
Feel the impact of real-time physics on every drive, post move and collision in the most trafficked area on the court. 100+ new animations make it possible for something unpredictable and amazing to happen on every play. Scoring has been amped up with 3x the variety of dunks, layups and signature shots as you impose your will on your opponent with physicality you can feel.

Ultra-Responsive Controls
Passing, shooting and dribbling will feel snappier the moment you pick up the sticks. Freestyle Passing takes your assist game to the next level with no looks, behind the backs, and more. An all-new shot feedback system teaches you how to successfully get buckets, measuring three key factors in real-time to determine shot quality. Enhancements to bounceTek allow you to make cuts and change momentum on a dime, giving you the ability to create space and pull off devastating skilled dribble moves on the run.

Smarter AI & Transition Game
New AI logic drives all 10 players to move with intent and purpose while displaying greater off-ball awareness, adjusting as every play develops. Add in a smooth transition game as well as real-world offensive sets and defensive schemes and you’ve got 48 minutes and 94 feet of end-to-end, dynamic gameplay.

Defense Is Fun
New defensive systems make it easier to contain your man by using just the left stick. Contextual physicality, bumps and jostles, in addition to a new shot blocking system, delivers simplicity in controls helping you make that big defensive stop when your team needs it most.

It's actually easy to describe. The neck area is to wide for one so it exposes the players' shoulders too much. The v necks(Lakers/Heat/Raptors/Etc.) threading texture under the collar is also too noticeable(art team should've minimized it even if it was scanned). There is also a weird distortion of logos and jersey numbers when the players perform certain moves. For whatever reason, when they scanned these jerseys, it didn't account for cloth movement. Other wise when just looking straight on, the textures are on point.

Wish they would've shown a Blake dunk with more air time

I can respect all of the complaints and what not but I'm being honest with myself here. This looks damn good and better than the comp in a lot of areas(accessories/shoes obviously but jersey textures, hair textures(Nerlens Noel good god), some skin textures, and most importantly body types(noticeable difference between Wade/Bron/Howard/Lillard). It also looks like it plays WAY smoother than Live 14 and no matter how "wonky" some animations look, the majority looked good to me and more like Live 10(which is still one of the better bball games to date).
If the gameplay is as good as this 50 seconds looked and the presentation is even halfway decent(having ESPN alone helps but they really need better commentary and realtime pregame/ingame/postgame cutscenes) this will be a decent alternative from 2k.

EDIT: BTW, I forgot to mention it but one thing they do seem to have an upper hand in as well is the players' emotion looking lifelike. I'll say one thing, 2k's emotion last year was nice, but it's something about it that didn't "look real" if you know what I mean. Also there was a lot of the same things repeated EVERYTIME down the court(pointing and skipping back/ index finger hitting head). None of those actually look like something i'd see an NBA player do tbh. Even the Melo "3 to the dome" didn't look or feel right, same for Westbrook. They seemed "weak" and lacking emotion.
Seeing Westbrook in this trailer looked like something he'd do, it had that...aggression he does it with. The snippet of Melo also had the correct finger placement and looked exactly like how he'd do it. Then when it comes to yelling, it just looks more believable on Live. The veins popping out on the neck and the arms tensing and flexing(Noah WOAH just like real life), it just comes alive and pops out at you more.

As someone who just played Live 14 yesterday, i'm conflicted. It's like I know I shouldn't buy this one, yet it is so much of a jump in multiple areas that I feel like I owe it to myself after essentially being their beta tester. Very very interested to hear more about the advancements AI-wise on offense and all of the defensive additions. Ultimately Live 14 does not play very different from team to team so I look forward to a blog addressing that.

The music in this trailer sounded like crap to me. 2K trailer was way more engaging than this even if it wasn't hip hop.

Whether it was crap or not, his point is hip hop flows with basketball better, and he has a point. Just like rock works better with something like football or hockey.

Man all these great visuals just make it suck even more that we can't manage rosters....which makes it a non day 1 purchase for me...unless the demo Is straight gawdlike, lol

18 pages of comments for a trailer that really shows no gameplay what so ever. I'm so glad I avoid these forums now a days.

Luckily, there will be a demo. So no need to pay $60 if you don't like it. I'm hoping the demo will impress me enough to buy the full game. The trailer definitely shows some promise.

LOL too true. EA paints a very pretty picture but we all know the game play is not always true to the sport. So best to wait and see on this one. Look at madden 15, after all the bluster about how dope is was going to be it scored a 7 and people are already picking the meat off the bones of the gameplay. Its a good game but not the greatest. So again, wait and see.

Some of you guys just have to understand that alot of the community is still put off with EA and Live, which is warranted with how they managed this game the past four to five years. I guarantee you guys if Live 15's gameplay is solid, then most people who are still criticizing despite this impressive trailer will eventually come around to Live again. The Live team have to make sure they deliver on that gameplay part as well, then the noise will be put out.

Agree'd after reading about how they "scanned" in jerseys as well and after seeing the scanned picture of the nab gameball I'm a little disappointed with the jerseys. They don't look right.

It also looked like they've addressed the momentum issues on drives to the basket. In L14, when you would beat your man and drive to the basket, the players momentum should carry me in for a layup but instead I get a pull up jumper.

Looks like guys are getting to the rack and finishing like they're supposed to.

You've got my attention, Live team.

The jerseys definitely look way off and seem to stick to the players and stretch when the players move a certain way. Every time someone jumps, the jerseys move in the middle, but stick to the shoulders. The collars are really funky also.

Mushroom type jerseys vs floating jerseys.

Seems like a simple task.

# 340 KyotoCarl @ 09/03/14 10:49 AM
Looks like a huge improvement over previous year but it doesn't look like movement is totally smooth. It looked a bit stiff too me.
