NBA Live 15 News Post

EA Sports has just released their NBA Live 15 improved visuals trailer. They have also released the NBA Live 15 features list.

Let us know what you think!

Lights, Camera, Action
We’re doubling down on visuals with an all-new scanning and lightning technique for the most photo-realistic player models in franchise history. Add into the mix player specific body types and contextual emotional responses and you will truly feel like you’re in the action.

Real-Time Physics in the Paint
Feel the impact of real-time physics on every drive, post move and collision in the most trafficked area on the court. 100+ new animations make it possible for something unpredictable and amazing to happen on every play. Scoring has been amped up with 3x the variety of dunks, layups and signature shots as you impose your will on your opponent with physicality you can feel.

Ultra-Responsive Controls
Passing, shooting and dribbling will feel snappier the moment you pick up the sticks. Freestyle Passing takes your assist game to the next level with no looks, behind the backs, and more. An all-new shot feedback system teaches you how to successfully get buckets, measuring three key factors in real-time to determine shot quality. Enhancements to bounceTek allow you to make cuts and change momentum on a dime, giving you the ability to create space and pull off devastating skilled dribble moves on the run.

Smarter AI & Transition Game
New AI logic drives all 10 players to move with intent and purpose while displaying greater off-ball awareness, adjusting as every play develops. Add in a smooth transition game as well as real-world offensive sets and defensive schemes and you’ve got 48 minutes and 94 feet of end-to-end, dynamic gameplay.

Defense Is Fun
New defensive systems make it easier to contain your man by using just the left stick. Contextual physicality, bumps and jostles, in addition to a new shot blocking system, delivers simplicity in controls helping you make that big defensive stop when your team needs it most.

Learn LIVE
NBA All-Star and Former ROTY Damian Lillard is your personal coach and mentor on the journey to becoming an expert NBA LIVE 15 player. Learn how to dominate LIVE like a boss with drills and tutorials wrapped in stories about Lillard’s path to the NBA.

That contact animation on the drive though

Sneakers, jerseys look WAY better than 2k's

I dont know guys, I think I both games this year.

By the way the features look great, at least they talked about defense.. we all know how bad the on ball defense for 2k is....

Hope to see more gameplay in the near future.

If we can get some of these redone body types/faces moving properly in motion, well be in for a treat...
Totally agree.

But as the user I should feel like I made something happened not the game. So the key is finding the balance of animation vs freedom.

Understood. But drawn out animations are necessary to keep the game from looking stiff. That was the problem with NBA Elite and Live in general, IMO. Control is good. I'm not arguing against that. But you have to implement it in a way that is aesthetically pleasing or the game looks like crap. Like I said, there is a fine line and the main thing is to strike that perfect balance.

Yeah it's somewhere in the middle...because as the user I want to feel that what I made happen matters...

My thing is animation quality to control responsiveness, and finding the happy medium.

A game can have excellent animations and look the part of an NBA game, or it can have really good animations, with more control and play like the players that the game represents.

I want #2. I want to be in control of what my video game players do. I still want quality animations, but not at the total expense of control.

It may not make sense to some, but hopefully some understand what I'm trying to say.

Game looks so stiff. Great graphs tho

The amount of detail that I am seeing when I watch the trailer is just amazing.

I can see Derozan's acne patch...

The sounds of the dunking and that may not sound all that accurate but I like them because they're nostalgic from past live games

I'm really excited to see this from a broadcast camera angle.

When I first seen this trailer earlier this afternoon, straight WHOA was my quick reaction but couldn't watch again til now that I'm home with a stable and even better network connection.

Now that I've run it a couple more times, WHOA has become ok, not bad. Graphics are gorgeous, emotion engine is WOO but still seeing that signature Live stiffness in some of the the animations and those damn paddle hands. That's not a good thing for me. That's a legacy issue that needs to be fully rectified to get a more immersive visual. I sure hope EA is working on a better animation engine for both this game AND Madden but I look forward to a demo for Live 15 because that vid shows some promise.

I get what your saying WTF...

Live 10 was a good example of having pretty good contextual animations in place, but a lack of diversity...you saw those same 4-5 animations everyone you had contact at the rim and that started to wear on me personally...

Live 14 was more of a case of not having enough animations in place....not even form a strictly visual standpoint like Live 10...but to create proper contact situations at the rim. I had no idea if I could trigger contact at the rim from one play to the other...

For me, In that instance, I can have all the control in world, but I don't feel like I am playing basketball..

That's why the focus on rim interactions is music to my ears...

The transition from running to dunking around 40:00 looked a bit weird, but still have to see it in real-time gameplay to decide.

Overall, exciting trailer and nice list of features.

Spoiler
That Wiggins dunk in the Live 15 trailer came from Live 06 the PS2 version, I'm a Live head so I recognized it as soon as I saw it!!!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jVm5J-oYcQ

Yeah it looks like it's exactly the same animation. Does this mean they're using the same animation engine, lol.

By the way, I haven't been much into the NBA recently (on or off-season). Did they change their uniform color?

And Griffin kind of bouncing back after the dunk looks almost Live 08'ish to me. I hope they didn't go back in time too much. The Lilard dunk seems nostalgic as well. What the...?

Okay so...Trailer was cool...I thought alot of thought went into the soundtrack "I'm different" Hmm

Anyway...I think they got 2K on Wade...Wade doesn't seem to be 2K's strong point...

# 260 sega2k @ 09/02/14 10:08 PM
I pray EA isn't going back in the archives to get these 500+ core gameplay improvements..I remember some of these animations from past lives..But I'm more excited for Live 16..That will be the true measurement of where Live is..
