Been playing John Madden football since it was invented...so a grey bush gamer from back in the day for some perspective.

Have about half a dozen games played and watched almost that many with my gang playing today on the PS:4.

So far, for this generation, Xbox360 based Madden 2008 - 2014, it is the best version of this cycle of Madden we have been presented so far. It almost makes me forget about that Madden 2010 game...almost :P

On the plus side, If you are not a die hard, all serious type gamer looking for some fun and getting your football fix in...I'd also add that if all you've really played is the Xbox 360 based Maddens...you are probably going to be a pretty happy to completely stoked with this year's release. Also, the new crew that came in to replace he whom shall not be named deserve credit for continuing to improve the overall Madden experience and push it again in a forward direction. Kudos Cam, et al.

On the downside, another year of an arcade representation of the NFL the more serious/sim gamer has no other choice in playing for a new release. Basic NFL game rules, fundamentals of how the game is played are still missing and the game continues to ask you to use your imagination when it comes to things like the laws of physics and player movements. Legacy issues, some as old as 90's PS & PS:2 Madden versions, still peak out from the shadows here and there.

Because others have mentioned it in their 2 cents, as a Madden player who's been here since it was invented, to me, this is not the best Madden ever nor is it the best video football game ever.

Well I've been following madden since it was invented and I'm saying it's the best one yet.

Ok, So for last gen I bought Madden and NCAA for the 360 as I felt the controller, player felt more responsive, even when navigating around the menu it was almost instant reaction, where as the PS3 had a lag.

So last year I went out and bought the PS4 at launch with Madden, and also noticed lag. I eventually bought an Xbox one thinking I would by Madden for the Xone, as I always felt it was a smoother game play.

So I went out today and got madden for the Xbox one and was all excited and only to be let down, that the Xbox one version felt laggy on game play and navigating thru the menu screen. Also on normal speed the game felt really slow.

I decided to purchase the electronic download version for the PS4 to compare, and boy was I amazed that not only was navigation thru the menu responsive the game was also responsive like it should be, game play on normal also felt how it should.

So my question is,
is the PS4 version more responsive because the game is running 100% from HDD and not from media like my XBOX one? or is the PS4 version just better regardless of the game being run off from the HDD or media?

Thanks,
ulua

Played my first game earlier, I was the Ravens against the Bengals. Couple things that stuck out to me:

Punts still rocket straight into the end zone.

Players still will sprint out of bounds after catches on certain routes.

They don't really seem to fight for more yards.

CPU QB completion % was crazy high.

It is fun, but still a lot of the same problems.

Really glad to see that most of the people here are digging M15. IMO, this is the best Madden since Madden 2005. But does anybody else feel that normal speed is a bit too fast particularly in terms of the running game? I wish that EA would allow us to change the speed to slow for online matches. Also, I keep on running into my linemen on running plays up the middle -- thankfully it isn't as bad as in prior years though.

You dont run anything off the disk on Xbone or PS4 for that matter. All games install to the HD and run off of that after.

Man I'm a seasoned Madden player and I was able to play All Pro for years but now..I'm just like getting my *** kicked out here. I mean I can get a run game going but I can't complete a pass over 20 yards without it being pick city. I usually utilize a short passing game until I get the hang of it.

But EA has me hooked so I consider it a good buy.

Now is Nba Live gonna make strides like this years Madden??
Disagree about ROBO QB on All -Pro.

Have you adjusted sliders?
I just held Texans QB to about 58% passing in my last test game.
Starting my real CFM today and hope to get video up of game 1

The dumb fumble when you dive is still in.....

As a long time Madden *****(IMO for good reason), I'm having a lot of fun and pleasantly surprised of the jump from M25. There are still problems that need to be sorted but this is the biggest step towards sim for the series in 10 years.

That's probably why you are not seeing the accelerated clock. I don't think they're exactly the same, but if you choose chew clock in playcalling it speeds up the end of the game. So you don't have to sit at the line of scrimmage and let 30 seconds run off the play clock. I'm pretty sure that us how it works

Every year almost every one says this is the best Madden yet, even though they have complaints. I'm not buying I'll pass this year. Until they put features back I like in the game. I haven't brought one since 12

I stand corrected Skyboxer. I haven't touched any sliders. I was on All Pro default

Only played against my nephew at my house for one game with 6 min qtrs and the next with only 2min qtrs (I had things to do) and I must say I'm absolutely loving this Madden, off the bat. It could help that in recent months I had just started digging into 25 after initially shelving game almost immediately on PS4 release day cuz I was soooo angry and disappointed at it. Months later, I learned to forgive then gave it hard look at, increasingly enjoying the little things about the game which set me up to really fiend for 15.

I still gotta dig into the game more by myself because when playing with someone else and having limited time, it's hard to get deep. Can't wait to get home and play some more.

Really enjoying this year's game! A HUGE step forward from EA. This is what we should have had on the PS3/360.

Only issue I am having is when changing between players to control on D. When trying to switch between a LB/DL/DB sometimes the camera setting changes when I am not hitting L3. It's caught me in some difficult situations. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue.

Other than that...I've got no complaints. Played 2 games last night. Lost to the Browns with the Texans. Won with the Seahawks over the Jets 23-3. This was with 10 min quarters, no accel clock on All-Pro.

Using the DL a lot more this year because I am really enjoying the OL/DL interactions. Love the hand-fighting animations you can see while playing with the ZOOM camera. Plus, I started out playing at LB/DB and it just felt different this year. I wasn't nearly as effective. However, I feel like the animations/physics for player movement are better. Guys aren't just changing direction and field of vision without delay anymore.

I think I'm going with AM for one of my CFM's.

Just finished a 15 minute game (hope to have uploaded soon-Screwed up and missed almost all of 2nd quarter)
The only thing I did after game was bump up CPU INT's and run blk and dropped CPU acc down 1.
On AM a slight bump in anything makes a big step. The CPU was running all over me consistently so I dropped it down. A little too much it seems. So I bumped back up a bit.

On to week 2

Was a really fun game.
Beat Texans on road 31-14

Well first of all let me start by saying that I haven't owned a system since the Ps2 because when I played madden on the 360/ps3 over my boys house I just was really never impressed. The offense was just too overpowering, the movement was her my jerky and I overall just didnt like the game. Strategy went out the window.

Now, from watching the earlier videos I was intrigued because I seen a lot of things I liked especially the graphics and the movement. So the day madden came out I went a d bought a ps4. I was not disappointed, this absolutely the best madden I've ever played. Everything from graphics to the running is great. I especially loved the physics of the tackling it gives you an endless possibility of outcomes and really indulges you in the game. I absolutely love it.

The Qb inaccuracy and the D will make you pay on this game (especially if dont have your feet set) I threw tons of pics with Eli. The running game is great and you can feel the weight difference and shiftyness difference between power backs and speed/shifty backs and I like how you can't just hold speed burst while trying to run the momentum will kill you...lovely.

Oh did I mention how beautiful the graphics were...Ridiculous!

The presentation is top notch. I love the commercial after the Qt, makes me feel like im watching Tv. The flash films guy did an excellent job capturing all of those beautiful camera angles

My only negative is that horrible play calling screen. Please EA send a patch and change it back.

This game was definitely worth the purchase of the ps4. Im very satisfied.

Decided to unlock full game on X1. Best Madden since the PS2/Xbox era. Plays well, is strategic again, visually beautiful (finally correct player proportions!). Running game is good, defense is good. Some legacy issues like WR-DB interactions, suction blocking, etc...but still a massive leap from PS360 engine. As others have said, the playcalling screen is HORRENDOUS. Please patch this monstrosity.

I've got to say this is the most fun I've had with Madden, dare I say, of all time. Minus the (very few) lingering legacy issues, this year plays a great game of football. Started up a CFM last night as the Jags (soon to be Portland Lumberjacks lol) and lost week 1 to the Eagles on All-Pro!! I've never had so much fun losing either, it was like something you'd see on Sunday.

Side note: Most awesome play I've seen in some time; Threw an interception with Bortles around the 40, and Bortles had the angle to get back and make a play around the 3. Wraps up and strips the ball around the half-yard line, and a WR comes in and falls on it for a touchback. It was sweet!
