No EASHL, GM Connected, OTP, or Live The Life in NHL 15 on XB1/PS4 (Interview)

It’s official: EASHL, GM Connected, OTP, and Live the Life will not be in NHL 15.

The modes which will be in the game, will include play now, Be A Pro, Be a GM, Online Vs, Hockey Ultimate Team, and NHL Moments Live. The plan, as of right now, is to deliver Online Team Play via a patch after launch.

We sat down with Producer Sean Ramjagsingh to discuss why those modes were not included and to talk about the modes which are in the game. The discussion also turns to how to the team deals with community reactions and plans for the future of the franchise, which admittedly are quite exciting. See for yourself after the jump!

Don't want to get into it since its a hockey but yes it does. 100x better. I'm with you on done with EA. Not buying Fifa, Madden or NHL to make sure they don't get my money. Looks like Rammer is doing another Q&A over at the EA forums and he just stated the GM Connected might never come back...

The future of GM Connected is TBD.
When we look at the data of how many people are actually playing the mode, it is VERY small relative to our other modes.
One of the things that we need to be careful of moving forward is to not spread ourselves too thin.
On G3, we have a lot of modes that get minimal use.
Maintaining these modes year on year (even if we don't add any new features) is very costly and it takes away from us working on other features in the more played modes which is why I say that the future is TBD based on current usage.
When we first put GMC in, it was a highly requested mode from our fans but that hasn't translated into the usage we expected.

I couldn't care less about EASHL, HUT or any online games so I'm good to go! As long as I have my season mode all good!

Lucky for me I have "only" paid the game 49$ for the ultimate edition. So I was planning on playing a season with a few friends, I think we are screwed?

Since there will be no OTP, I guess we can forget any online season as well?

Yes the only online play is Online versus or HUT where you can spend 100's to compete or not pay and get destroyed.

maybe the couldnt add it in this year due to the new commentary team. Maybe they didnt have enough time to record the extra lines needed for EASHL?

Simple formula for me:

I play EASHL exclusively. Play 6s leagues in both XBox and PlayStation.

No EASHL = No $120 spent.

Got my closure, and bought The Golf Club to replace it today!

So GM connected was removed caused it was one of the lesser played game modes. But EASHL which was the most played game mode was left out cause of a bunch of excuses?

If they wanted EASHL in the game it would have been in the game. EA lies.

Like making the point that EASHL was left off because they want people to play HUT will not get me banned like it did immediately on the EA forums?

HAHA I know right. The PR marketing spin they are doing is pretty funny. I hope most people can see through it and use logic to understand why they removed it for a year.

I am not an online gamer, so while the rumors concerned me, I was hoping I wouldn't be affected. I was wrong. I spend all of my time in Be A GM, but from this interview, it sounds like we are getting a dumb-ed down version.

It is a slap in the face to the supporters of the franchise that they are charging full price for this game, yet the only game mode that I expect is going to be fully working is the mode they use to milk more money from gamers. I hope this year's game doesn't kill the franchise, but if this is the kind of games they are going to deliver, it won't be a big loss.

This really puts a ton of pressure on the gameplay demo to release next week. If the core gameplay that they seem really proud of is broken or not as innovative as they claim, this could set the franchise back for much longer than just this year. As a die hard hockey fan, I'm really hoping that the gameplay really is as good as they claim.
