NHL 15 News Post

It’s official: EASHL, GM Connected, OTP, and Live the Life will not be in NHL 15.

The modes which will be in the game, will include play now, Be A Pro, Be a GM, Online Vs, Hockey Ultimate Team, and NHL Moments Live. The plan, as of right now, is to deliver Online Team Play via a patch after launch.

We sat down with Producer Sean Ramjagsingh to discuss why those modes were not included and to talk about the modes which are in the game. The discussion also turns to how to the team deals with community reactions and plans for the future of the franchise, which admittedly are quite exciting. See for yourself after the jump!

Was this in the interview? I didn't see it. That's why I was asking.

that sucks so everyone will play with top NHL teams to gain an advantage and some troll will pick the worst team and be worthless on the ice no thank you.

SO what you're saying Rammer is that we are going to pay you the FULL AMOUNT while receiving a half-made product? I play BaGM exclusive....and its still the same feature without even like controlling the 30 teams since trade logic is flawed in this game, and you expect me to pay the same amount? How long will I wait for the patch for this mode???? Good that you released these info...Im moving on to another sports game for this year.

So somehow they managed to put all this effort into commentary and leave these sorts of things out... I don't know how that happens.

I've finally caught up with all today's new on here and on the official EA NHL Forums. Glad Rammer came on here and EA NHL Forums to answer our questions. I know it's most likely damage control for them, but some of Rammer's answers really did resonate in my mind. I do sympathize with them for having little over a year to build the game, but on the other side the FIFA team made FIFA 14 with ALL features in probably the same amount of time. Rammer said they didn't want to say anything because it would've caused more questions to be asked and what not, but this whole blow up over OS, EA NHL Forums, and even on Twitter could've been avoided if they would've came out and said "EASHL won't be in the game". Then at least the community would be at ease somewhat and not angry, frustrated and left feeling betrayed like we all have been this past week.

I'm also glad they'll be adding in OTP as a free update shortly after launch. From what I was reading it will be drop in first with the possibility of adding a simple lobby system at a later date. I'm fine with that and if what Rammer said is true, then having OTP in the game via patch will setup the ground works for EASHL for NHL 16. They said they want to make it bigger and better than it ever was, especially when it was first introduced in NHL 09. Time will tell. As long as they acknowledged that OTP/EASHL is a huge part of the game and they're making an effort to put OTP back into the game. Will be like NHL 08's OTP I imagine which I'm fine with. I'm not expecting them to port over EASHL magically into NHL 15 on next gen. I do believe what Rammer said about complications with code, latency, desync, etc is true. 1 v 1 games are different from having up to 12 people playing live on different consoles, from different provinces/ states. My only hope is that this OTP patch doesn't take long to come out, I'm hoping before December in all honesty.

Overall, I I'd say 80% at ease right now with NHL 15. Am I still frustrated, yes as will many others. I'll be buying it because I'm a die hard hockey fan and have been without an NHL video game since November 2013. Rammer said he will be more active within the community on the EA NHL forums and will give more insight and thoughts into development along with getting community feedback. Whether that holds true remains to be seen but I think this whole EASHL commotion has made the NHL dev take a step back and see how passionate this community is for this game whether they were aware of it or not. When we all complain it's not because we "hate" the game per say. It's because we all know this series has potential to be great if a few issues would be corrected/fixed.

In this day in age with social media the giant that it is, you simply CANNOT get away with stuff like this like you could've pre mid 2000's before Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, heck even MySpace. The community spoke, and the dev's reacted and listened.

All in all, I'm relatively happy. Looking forward to the demo based on what Rammer said about the A.I and Doc's commentary being a lot better than shown in the overhead gameplay videos.

Such a shame that EA managed to **** this up. I get that it's next gen but ea usually does the whole "copy and paste" **** anyway. Eashl is what I played with all my friends, the same version of it would be better than nothing. Ultimate team takes priority once again and ruins a sports game. Wouldn't even surprise me that they left out eashl because they couldn't figure out a sneaky way to add micro transactions to it. $1.30 or whatever it was for boosts isn't enough for them. Super bummed out about this news, but that's how ea is, they pump you up and then just let you down. Just like that stream on twitch that was supposed to happen yesterday. I think this might be the first time in 15 years I don't get the new nhl game

Guess I will skip the game two years in a row now. I can't take anything they say seriously anymore. EA stated they learned their lesson last generation with Madden and sports games having less features on new consoles. That doesn't exactly seem to be true right now. The only way I purchase this game is if it goes on a crazy good sale for like $15 on Black Friday. That probably isn't happening. Hopefully next year there is a hockey game I want.

I can see sales being about the same as they have in the past, only problem is the community will be spread throughout four consoles so no matter what console you pick the online play will take a hit.
I think your under estimating it... I considered purchasing it for last gen but what good does that serve. They get our money and continue to screw us, while their is no way to prove it I can essentially guarantee it will not out sell NHL 14. There is almost no reason to buy NHL 15 on the last gen, they haven't updated anything. You're paying $59.99 for a roster update, but to each his own.

Another disappointment from EA. Thats one thing their at least good at with all of their games. Thats too bad, I was really looking foward to playing some EASHL on next gen.

The game should be half priced if its going to be missing so many modes.

# 135 Trackball @ 08/20/14 04:05 AM
Okay, folks, just to clarify...

These modes won't be in the PS4 version, but will be in the PS3/360 version?

Or were they taken out of that too?

I ask because I recently got a PS4, and need to know whether to pass on the PS3 game as well. I skipped NHL 14 because I didn't think enough had changed between games, but if last gen doesn't have these, I'm skipping this year too.

# 136 Tackid @ 08/20/14 04:18 AM
When Littman was in charge this game was concerned about the fan. When Rammer got in the big seat its all about the $ aka HUT. Such a joke they're going to lose a HUGE chunk of the NHL players in a sports game that is already low on the food chain compared to other sports games.

if your getting NHL 15 for you PS3 (I'm guessing you still have it) you will get all the modes pretty much PS3 and 360 users get a full game with all modes and PS4 and Xbox one users get half pretty much

I wouldn't be surprised once a new competitor actually develops and releases a new hockey game, whatever great new thing they create as cool feature EA will immediately incorporate it into their own game. EA did give us the skill stick which has been great but that was back in 2006. Also the commentary has been fantastic until it got reached its use by 2 or three years ago. EASHL has been a strong success too. But gameplay wise, other than the skill stick nothing has really evolved to a great level. Either they have no ideas left or they are waiting for a reason (financial competition) to use them. It doesn't help that hockey is not a popular sport.

Just wondering what sells better, a tennis game or an EA hockey game?

If you're right, that's the one I'm getting. Screw next-gen this year.
