NHL 15 News Post

It’s official: EASHL, GM Connected, OTP, and Live the Life will not be in NHL 15.

The modes which will be in the game, will include play now, Be A Pro, Be a GM, Online Vs, Hockey Ultimate Team, and NHL Moments Live. The plan, as of right now, is to deliver Online Team Play via a patch after launch.

We sat down with Producer Sean Ramjagsingh to discuss why those modes were not included and to talk about the modes which are in the game. The discussion also turns to how to the team deals with community reactions and plans for the future of the franchise, which admittedly are quite exciting. See for yourself after the jump!

Read OP for quite some time, not until now I registred.

Saw that EAsport wont include create-a-team in Fifa15 new gen because of issues with Ignite Engine, so what are the odds the NHL dev team managed to include it?
Im an offliner myself so that's troubling news for me if its true since I like creating own teams for BeaGM.
Anyhow, it might be a main reason why they couldnt get EASHL in because of the Ignite Engine.
Rammer said that they where trying to patch OTP in later but only with default NHL teams if I understood it right?
Will they be able to get EASHL in without ability to create a custom team?

Pardon my english, Im swede! :-)

Also eashl was fine as is except for the ai. So the "we have a special team working on the mode for next release" thing is such a cop out.

sure reads like a ton of excuses. They had a longer time period than any game to move to next gen since they skipped the next gen version last year.

As a GM connected guy it sucks having that mode removed from the game. I will be skipping NHL this year and it's quite sad because this was the one game I wanted to see on the next gen. If this was NHL14 I would understand but to have a half game a year later is damaging to say the least. I love how they made it seem like they made the decision today. I highly highly doubt that.

GM Connected in NHL 14 was a complete miss, so i have no problems with them omitting that for next gen. They need to completely rebuild it. But no OTP at launch and no EASHL at all? That's a huge kick in the nuts.

I just don't understand why they continued to focus on the current (360/PS3) gen instead of putting all hands on deck for the next gen (X1/PS4) version. Feels like they wasted precious resource time by working on two games instead of one. Also boggles my mind how FIFA, Madden and even NBA Live had releases ready for PS4/X1 at launch, but NHL STILL can't have a full game available a year later. Where was the foresight in planning for next gen? To me, it feels like PS4/X1 released last year and Rammer and the team said, 'whoa, next gen is out? Maybe we should start working on that next week?' instead of having 6-12 months lead time in 'building the core' ahead of actually working on the game.

So disappointing.

just finishing up moving into our new house. i was following along with this news on twitter in general.

just zero excuse as to why the EASHL/OTP were not included, zero!

GM Connected was a train wreck as stated before, and it being left out is no big deal IMO. but man, no EASHL. cant believe it, but i guess should have expected it. sigh

Never played EASHL so this won't impact my GM mode play.

Why does EA use the same excuse every year "We didn't have enough time" or "we built from the ground up" its the samething every year. EASHL to be honest was the only game mode I ever played on NHL so guess I wont be touching this game.

Well...put me in the saving $60 plus plus plus (purchase all of the packages to up my player) camp. This has to be one of the biggest blunders in decision making in sports gaming history. Honestly. When the numbers come in, a lot of people are going to lose their jobs at EA involved with this decision.

You do realize it's not a simple copy/paste, especially if they've made changes to the gameplay and physics, right?

Yes. I also realize they had extra time though. Get the full product out there. No excuses.

Moving my pre-order money for NHL and FIFA to Destiny and NBA 2K. It just blows my mind how the past generations EA Sports has managed to take away key features from their sports games and sell them at a full game price. They do not deserve my hard earned money.

I'm moving my preorder to Far Cry 4

This sucks as I was really looking forward to this game more than any of the others (I guess mostly because of presentation). On the plus side my roommate is getting this one, not me, but it's still very annoying. I wasn't super active in EASHL, but every few weekends my buddies and I would get on there and have fun for a few hours. Very dissapointed in this.

Totally right on that.

You know why they kept using these phrases....because they think that their consumers aqre stupid and no knowledge of hockey....bunch of kids who are only after scoring so much goals in a game.

All I've seen from them is 1 step forward but 3 bstep backward.

This is the ultimate catch 22 for NHL fans. If we don't buy the game, then EA has grounds to make the NHL team even smaller and if we do buy the game we're telling them we'll buy a half baked product.

I have no clue what I'm going to do. I skipped last year's game when I went Next Gen and missed my Hockey fix. I think this is going to come down to the Demo for me. If the game players awesome then maybe Be A GM will give me enough bang for my buck.

I was planning on buying this game but the comments from the producer have me worried. I think I'll go with fifa instead. I can see NHL getting a price drop a few months after release and I will want to see what gets patched in. I'm not big into EASHL but I like having the option to play, it's definitely disapointing.

I'm pretty angry about this, I mean I have been looking forward to this game since I got my ps4 in feb, and now tht they took away a lot of the modes I feel like it's not worth 60$. So I'm gonna preorder something else bc I don't want to waste money on a HALF-ASSED game

# 180 juice2142 @ 08/20/14 01:43 PM
pre-order cancelled.... what a drag. didn't look that impressive from the videos anyway. Too many people on the ground during play. Big hits are not that common
