GameplayDevUFC,

Can you give me a details on the winning stats. I don't understand how I lose. I thought Significant Strike is more important than take down and submission? Basically i feel like i dominate the match. I have more significant strikes and total strikes in EVERY ROUND and total rounds but % of significant strike is not as high as the other guy (but % doesn't matter i don't think...i mean it's all about how much you connect the hit, not how much you missed). He attempts take down more but why is that important than significant? I think he had one knock down...but overall i don't see how the judge make it a unanamous decision. It's ridiculous...i feel like the guy is playing scare the whole time avoiding Bruce LEE. All he want is take down.

I like the game so far the blood is so realistic. For stamina too work it has to be on the regular clock which is fine. The only problem I have is when I fought Machida with Evans. Machida is a counter striker but he just kept kicking and throwing bombs. I'd just wait for him to flurry than counter. Also I hate the reverse to the mount this rarely happens ever in real life. Other than a couple of things though I like the game. I want to feel like I'm fighting like I'm fighting against Machida or if you fight a wrestler he works to get the fight to the ground. I haven't played too much only 3 fights so I probably need to play some more matches.

The roster is pretty good just wish they had some of average tier fighters so you could see if theres a difference between fighting a GSP or an average fighter.

There are a couple things online that need to be addressed. Can you forward this to the online programmers please:

1) If your opponent quits a ranked match, you do not get the win. This means people waste their time playing a match without getting rewarded.

2) On PS4, it doesn't show the people you've Recently Met while playing UFC. How are we supposed to make friends on the game when you can't see who you last played?

Those are the two biggest issues for me right now. Gameplay is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Or show his dnf% prior to fighting

Gameplay Dev,

Several things really need to be addressed.

1) Sweeps from full guard when on bottom to full mount is REDONKULAS!!! It is not that it happens that is silly, it is far to easy to score AND damn near everyone can do it. This should be for ONLY high level BJJ fighters.

2) Sweeps from side control to side control dominate. Yet again damn near everyone has them and far to easy to succeed.

3) Sweeps from north south, this one I give a slight pass with the animation played but it still is way to easy to succeed with and way to many have this move.

All in all the ground game becomes a back and forth sweep fest. Sure I can defend 6 or 7 attempts and let them burn out their stamina but they can continue to spam transitions where you are locked out of doing anything other than blocking the pass, eventually the ref will come in and stand you up.

As the stamina decreases the window to block pass attempts should be MUCH larger, plus the speed of their attempts should be slowed down by a lot. Currently it is so fast even with zero stamina you can't rise up and drop shots because even with you at full stamina and them at zero. The sweep transition is so fast, the moment you attempt to drop a shot they will succeed with the sweep.

Biggest issue I've encountered so far online.

To piggy back Phobia's comments, the window for the Power single takedown is too short. It makes no sense that its easier to block a basic single/double leg takedown than it is to block the power single.

This is especially the case online. I had several fights where I would block every basic takedown but the window was to small for me to block the power one. Please fix this.

Here's my review for the ufc game, the game looks beautiful and it plays very well if you find the right difficulty to make the fight fun, I don't do online so I can't review that I just started career mode and I don't get how you can up your training points, the lack of a tourney or event card mode is disappointing, maybe that's something EA can patch in down the road if this is an every other year title

I would give the game a 7.5 mainly due to the lack of modes to pick from, they need to add more fighters like, Ali bagutiov, dillashaw, ovince st preux, tyron woodley and some lower card guys to for punching bags

Solid game but it has some serious flaws. The AIs too aggressive although they do slow down further into the fight so maybe fix the stamina. They need to either eliminate cartwheel kicks and german suplexes or make them rare. Those are my only dealbreakers.

This was the next topic I was going to touch on. Power take downs should be easier to block, not harder but I've noticed the same thing. I can block standard takedowns fine, but power "over the top" slams are extremely tough to block. This should be the other way around. Harder to stop a single leg, easier to stop a huge slam.

After jumping straight online last night and played 8 to 9 fights in ranked then another 4 or 5 against OS guys. The only issues I have encountered (other than the stamina), is these problems.

1) Sweeps far to easy
2) Stamina not mattering much for transition success
3) Power take downs far to easy to win
4) Transition speed not slowing down with stamina temp loss

Pro difficulty is the only difficulty for me where I have fun. Royce Gracie is the man ! Rousey can't take a punch. I find it quite easy to knock her out in the 1st round.

"Be water, my friend" - Bruce Lee

I think I am more like mud right now. I think this guy as a little more depth that we think and I haven't explore all of it. I am still struggling on the ground and I haven't master the art of dodging and counter-attacking.

The game sure has it number of flaws but overall its a good foundation to build upon. I think the computer AI recovers much too fast stamina and has the chin of an cement wall at time while my fighter is a delicate as a flower. This could change over time as I build my fighter but right now I have to be on the defense and can't trade into a pure brawl without being knock out by the computer. I am trying to play a more defense minded style so I can bring that skill online where it will be the difference between being good/lucky versus great.

OMG I hate people with crappy internet speeds. I just lost because this dude was lagging so much that the game literally would freeze every 10 seconds. Grrrr.

So, after getting home last night and going through the tutorials again, I hopped online.

I am 11-8. I feel that some of my losses were BS. I would be dominating the guy, then one lucky strike to the body puts me out. I understand it happens but when he has zero energy, how does he have the power to do that.

For the most part I dominate people on the ground game. I have to agree with Aholbert and Phobia with the power takedowns. It is driving me crazy. I will rock someone, but then they power takedown???'

Overall though, I am loving the game and it will keep me busy for a while.

I won by unanimous decision just by watching him flail away every round. I threw 156 strikes and 4/4 on takedowns on hard.

Yeah MMAi is NOT in the game. If it is? It's abismal in every single way.

I have to defend EA here. This is how they described MMAi:

A mixed martial artist’s mind is as important as his heart. Every licensed fighter in the game will have changing goals and fight plans, based on their real-life tendencies and each fight situation. Stop their Plan A, and they will adapt to Plan B or C. Down on the scorecards, look for the AI to end the fight with a knockout or a submission. A smarter opponent equals a more challenging and unpredictable fights.

With the exception of "real life tendencies", MMAi is working in the game. For example, I've played a bunch of games against grapplers who attempt a ton of takedowns in the first round but I stop them all (Plan A). So in round 2, I'll notice that they attempt no or fewer takedowns and will strike with me because thats their plan B. The AI does change tactics if its not working.

Now does the feature go far enough? Hell no. If I'm fighting Maia with Lawler, I expect him to keep trying for takedowns no matter what because he realizes he cant succeed standing up. If straight takedowns dont work, his plan be should be to clinch and take me down from there...not strike with one of the best strikers in the division.

I did some challenges and got a few online fights last night.

I will never understand the stubbornness with this development team's facilitation of stamina. The cartwheel kicks, being so easily accessed parallel the power straight that was abused in FNC.

It is the same exact flaw and I don't mean to be cruel by saying they are stubborn, but either they are not capable of making it realistic or they just don't want to.

It is is much more rewarding to win by fighting smart than it is to close my eyes and hit the kick/punch modifier until I get a KO.

Havent played online yet. Reading comments in here the ground game is essentially broken. If guys can spam transitions knowing all you can do is block them without time to even posture up or throw strikes then whats the point of a takedown. Every fighter has power takedowns. Every fighter is a bjj black belt apparently.
I dont mean to sound like a Delta Bravo but do the guys who worked on this game even watch MMA? Hey lets give BJ Penn a power double.
Then also guys getting quit on dont get a win in ranked? Come on man...

# 138 Swamp Swagger @ 06/18/14 02:50 PM
Have to agree on power slams and bjj. Any fighter in the game can do them with ease

About the ground I kinda feel that way about them just keep transitioning until there are out while you can only land a single punch or two if you are lucky. But I'm still not that great at so I'm not 100%

# 139 woody2goody @ 06/18/14 03:07 PM
Just to play devil's advocate here but I have seen Maia go into some fights in real life mindlessly standing with his opponent without attempting a takedown so that can't be an absolute statement.

Although it doesn't appear that MMAi is as advanced or effective as EA would have had you believe.

I think this game is awesome. The graphics are really well put together, the moves flow together, the offline game modes are awesome. I think they challenge 2k for best myplayer mode. The online rivals with friends is intense and fun even if you lose you cant even get that mad because it can either way, unlike madden where you are usually ticked off when you lose. Overall id say 8.5/10
