MLB 14 The Show News Post

The Opening Day version of the MLB 14 The Show Operation Sports Full Minors is ready for release.

As in past years... A LOT of work has gone into creating these rosters by many, many contributors.

I would like to thank each and every one of them IMMENSELY!
Without them all, this task would unlikely come to fruition.
It's a labor of love for all of these guys and I would like to ask anyone that comments in this thread to please be civil (unless you are heaping on praise...then go full bore! )

I'm sure there will be disagreements on player choice, potential and any number of ratings. That's fine and all will be taken into account, but don't degrade the thread with posts that are unbecoming.

I for the most part stay with the editors spirit of how they see their players. There were changes for balance. For the most part, I left potentials unless I felt they were too far out of bounds.

There are roughly 1500 user created players in this set.
All minor league players are edited to be a real player, with all faces done.

The set is mirroring Opening Day as best as possible in lineups and rotations at all levels. There were some cases where a total AAA or AA could not be met, as prospects took precedence.

I don't want to mention any editors in particular, but RidinDwnKingsley must receive a big mention here. The guy is just tremendous in his efforts to get this set out. Big kudos here.
There were many... Visit the chart
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...rive_web#gid=0 to see everyone involved. A lot of guys went above and beyond...

Also note that Willard76, a major contributor is going to take the O.D. set and edit a ton of things (including SCEA players, which are all "stock" on this set) for his release of the Hybrid set (here is the thread, I encourage you to check it out.)

I hope I didn't leave anything out.....

Here is the link to the set.....

I have not used these rosters since 12, so bear with me. Is there usually a roster update in the OSFM set of is it just OD? Is there a planned update if so?

Thanks

Bit of a noob question here guys so bear with me,
I want to start a one club franchise, just choose one team and go, letting the CPU do what it does with the others, with that in mind would these still be the best rosters to use or would I be better off with the default roster? Does the default roster even have minor leaguers?

This is the best roster to date and the one you should use for franchise/RTTS mode (version 2).

The default roster is all fake minor leaguers

Nothing really announced for this year yet but in previous years there's been version 1-4

How are sim stats with V2? Regarding things like AVG, HR, RBI, K's, ERA.

What day are these rosters accurate to?

accurate as of OD. I think the sim stats favor the pitchers this year to a degree anyway, which is they way it should be,unlike last year where it was like the offenses were all on Roids. Probably favors pitching a little to heavy, but I prefer it that way compared to last years sim stats.

I am grateful for all the hard work put in to this roster, however I feel last years edition was far superior. George Springer and Mark Appel both B potentials? Really? Why are all the rankings skewed this year? Matt Moore is a B? Can someone please fix these and many other ratings for top prospects in a osfm hybrid that incorporates the players from the draft once its finished? I remember last year there was a osfm plus draft roster that i used for franchise in last years game which was great.

I am a newbie here, bear with my basic questions here. I want to start just a 1 yr. franchise,no carry over or anything like that to next yr. I play allstar level. Not much playing time,so im going to play 1 game, sim 8...basically playing 20 games or so for the season. Im quite lost when it comes to the roster,40 man,25 man,ect... I guess im looking for the latest updated OSFM full minor/opening day rosters. Is there a way to get OSFM opening day rosters without any existing injuries ? I want to start basically healthy for every team. would that be OSFM V2 ?? any help would be great, thanx !!!

The roster you would want without doing the moves yourself for the regular OSFM roster is Totte's version of the Hybrid roster. Its a rerated roster, so you may or may not like it, as its not for everyone with the way some things were done, but that would be the one you would want, or the only one I know of.

thanx for responding. So,if i use the normal OSFM opening day rosters, are there going to be tons of existing injuries ? or just a handful of guys ? im not familiar at all really with sending players down and all that stuff. Is the OSFM opening day roster pretty close to the rosters in a exibition mode ? If so,i might try that. again, sorry for the newbie questions. just lookin to hop into franchise real soon

The normal version of the OSFM has all injured players in single A, and yeah there is quite a few players that were hurt to start the season. A lot of pitchers went down with TJ surgery. Personally I prefer to play with the RL injrured players in A ball, then I go in and ,manually injur them when I start my franchise

If you use OSFM orignal roster by Knight and want injured players they are all still on the 40 man roster, so they will automatically be put on the ML team when you start your season, if you use the 40 man version of the roster and have lineups to auto.

1 thing to remember using the using the original roster will have SCEA horrible pitcher repertoires, so if you want realistic pitcher repertoires, and want to use the original without rerates then download Nola's roster, cause it has seenjeezy's pitch edits in it. IMO thats the best one to use, but if you dont mind SCEA pitcher repertoires then you can just use the original OSFM.

If you want rerates then you will need the Hybrid roster by Willard or Totte's, which his is close to Openig day, but he has some erroes to fix yet as some guys arent on the right teams just yet, so you would need to check with him on that. I use the the pitch edit version that Nola put out and I do my own rerates, so I dont know a lot about the hybrid roster other than I didnt really care for some of the way they did ratings. Some like the hybrid roster some dont, so each theri own, its has soem good things too on it, so its not all bad by any means, I just prefer to do my own rerates, and I want accurate opening day rosters, lineups and rotations with injured players in A ball.

ok thanx... what are the major differences between OSFM v1 and OSFM v2 ? if i use OSFM v2,is there like a list of injured players that got injured before the season ? so,u say that if rosters are set to auto, these injured players will be automatically be put on the mlb roster ? example,if a starting pitcher was injured before season ,started on a computer controlled team, will he automatically be in the starting rotation ? if not,can i manually put that pitcher back in the starting rotation ? where is the option for rosters on automatic ? and,are these good for ps4 ? all these questions are related to OSFMv2 . i dont think im going to use the Hybrid roster...i like the idea of injured players being on the mlb roster automatically,so,would OSFMv1 or OSFM v2 be better for me ? again, sorry for newbie questions !!!

You'd want OSFM v2 as it came with a bunch of corrections from v1.

There might be a list on injuries somehwere here at the boards. Don't know if this is what you're looking for but it could be a start: http://www.operationsports.com/forum...dl-thread.html

I am looking for something specific, is there an OSFM 25 man with just the PITCH EDITS and NOT a hybrid set (raised contact) in the vault?

Yes, Nola has a roster with seenjeezy's pitch edits, with nothing else messed with, so you will get ratings that havent been messed with. It will also be a openign day roster with correct lineups/rotations for MLB teams, as well as a lot of th eminor league teams lineups/rotations are accurate as of opening day.

There is a thread here that Nola started about his roster, but I dont know how to link it too you or I would, sorry. Nola's roster is the 1 you definitely want to get. It is set to 40 man, so you will need to drop the minor league players off the 40 man, but that dont take too long to do, and Im not sure anyone has put up a 25 man roster of Nola's.
