MLB 14 The Show News Post

The Opening Day version of the MLB 14 The Show Operation Sports Full Minors is ready for release.

As in past years... A LOT of work has gone into creating these rosters by many, many contributors.

I would like to thank each and every one of them IMMENSELY!
Without them all, this task would unlikely come to fruition.
It's a labor of love for all of these guys and I would like to ask anyone that comments in this thread to please be civil (unless you are heaping on praise...then go full bore! )

I'm sure there will be disagreements on player choice, potential and any number of ratings. That's fine and all will be taken into account, but don't degrade the thread with posts that are unbecoming.

I for the most part stay with the editors spirit of how they see their players. There were changes for balance. For the most part, I left potentials unless I felt they were too far out of bounds.

There are roughly 1500 user created players in this set.
All minor league players are edited to be a real player, with all faces done.

The set is mirroring Opening Day as best as possible in lineups and rotations at all levels. There were some cases where a total AAA or AA could not be met, as prospects took precedence.

I don't want to mention any editors in particular, but RidinDwnKingsley must receive a big mention here. The guy is just tremendous in his efforts to get this set out. Big kudos here.
There were many... Visit the chart
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...rive_web#gid=0 to see everyone involved. A lot of guys went above and beyond...

Also note that Willard76, a major contributor is going to take the O.D. set and edit a ton of things (including SCEA players, which are all "stock" on this set) for his release of the Hybrid set (here is the thread, I encourage you to check it out.)

I hope I didn't leave anything out.....

Heyward was made a CF by SCEA, probably just a mistake where they got Uptons and his wrong. On Ramone's stream several people complained about it, and he checked and noticed it was wrong so probably will get fixed in the next roster update.

I apologize if this was previously mentioned, but Joc Pederson (Dodgers) does not have any audio listed for his name. I know that "Joc" is not listed in the list of names, but "Jacque" and "Jacque" are listed and are both perfectly fitting options.

To everyone involved, thanks for another excellent set.

Of course there is still a lot of editing (MLB and MiLB attributes, pitch edits, stances, deliveries, equipment, face tweaking - some due to PS4 changes, MiLB numbers, et cetera) left for some of us, but this is an excellent version 1 set.

I hope that everyone with knowledge and an interest for those aforementioned things continues to contribute and to share their thoughts and suggestions.

Hey everyone... First post here. Just picked up The Show 14 for PS4 on Tuesday and I'm loving it! Sorry for the noob question but there are so many roster files to download...

I want to start a long lasting authentic franchise I can carry over to future versions of the game. I'd like a roster with the most complete and accurate rosters including minors. Would this be the roster set to get? Does this roster come loaded with opening day 2014 injuries? As Id to start my franchise with injuries to those injuried in real life on opening day.

Any input on which set would be best for my needs would be great! Thanks!

This set has what you're looking for....for certain.
But as far as injuries...that can't be done on a roster set...it must be done in franchise once you start.

Awesome, I did download these and they look great! Appreciate the response and all the hard work from you and everyone else who contributed to them!

It's been a few years since I've played the show so I have two more questions... Are there any issues with this set when starting up a franchise? I seen a few other threads mention something about the 25 man and 40 man rosters after spring training ends. I was confused as to what the issues were.

My other question, which doesn't directly pertain to this and really doesn't belong here but as a general question I'm not sure the best spot to ask since it ties into these rosters. Any advice to which sliders work best with this set? I'm certainly not a master at this game so a more casual set would be good for me that's not overly difficult to pitch and hit. But at the same time produces realistic stats?

Thanks in advance

Thanks Knight! I'm not waiting for any future versions. I'm jumping into my RTTS and my Dodgers' franchise with version 2 that you just released. I have the next two days off of work so this is perfect timing. Time for some show followed by the NFL draft! Thanks a bunch and great job!

If you want all 30 teams lineups accurate to Knights rosters going into the regular season I put a file in the vault under Hoss311 that will help you do that. If you dont care what the CPU does with the other teams then you dont need to worry about it.

So to be clear... the only difference between yours and Knights, is that yours will help with the other teams... as a base for your roster do you use knights? Or?

Look into the OSFM Hybrid rosters by Willard, he uses Knight's as a base (because of the full minors obviously) and then adjusts all ratings of the MLB players using ZiPs projections

I'm guessing it's our roster with the 40 man rosters cut to 25(they removed 15 players per team from the 40 man) in order to not have the CPU decide it's lineups after Spring Training.
It's to keep the Opening Day lineups as per the MLB teams intact.
(because the CPU doesn't have to make any roster moves to cut the 40 players on the Active Roster in Spring Training to 25 players for the regular season)

Exactly, i just took the 15 minor league guys off of the 40 man. Other than that its Knights exact roster.

Yeah...I guess.....but I'm more of a conservative in regards to that.
I think the biggest problem is...I didn't decide the potentials for everyone this year(I would usually "hand out" the A/B's to each team).....and for me.....if I research a guy and he is a "high risk" to reach his potential....he lost at least a half letter grade(since there is no way for us to give the POSSIBLE potential...AND the probability for reaching it)....
There are just two many misses, regardless of draft position IMO.
That being said....if you look closely.....I gave a lot of those guys high 70's for potential, which is borderline B.
Does the Yankee farm system have guys that can be impact players? Sure.
I'm not saying they have no chance...but I just think that it's less than some people are alluding to.

I'm a Yankee fan and I think you've got it pretty much bang-on. Our farm system is a little weak right now, in my opinion.

When you say Vault, did you mean player vault? So we should download them and place them on the Rockies? Who should we remove? Just two of the lesser players on the roster?

# 398 vbarletta @ 05/09/14 12:01 AM
This roster is great. Thanks to everyone for the hard work, but I have a question and donīt know if it has been answered.
In franchise at the end of the season all the Free Agents at the start of the season retire because of "poor free agent market".
That means if I start my Franchise with players like Drew and Kendrys Morales as FA, they will retire, even if a team signs them through the season.
Do you know a way to work around it?
My guess is to put these players in a random team in Class A and then swap them to a real team if they sign after the June draft.

If you haven't viewed the slider section of this board, you should.

Hey knight. Just curious if you are making a version 3.0 specifically for the ps4 capabilities? If you're taking time off to enjoy your hard work that's totally understandable. Thanks again for everything you do
