MLB 14 The Show News Post

The Opening Day version of the MLB 14 The Show Operation Sports Full Minors is ready for release.

As in past years... A LOT of work has gone into creating these rosters by many, many contributors.

I would like to thank each and every one of them IMMENSELY!
Without them all, this task would unlikely come to fruition.
It's a labor of love for all of these guys and I would like to ask anyone that comments in this thread to please be civil (unless you are heaping on praise...then go full bore! )

I'm sure there will be disagreements on player choice, potential and any number of ratings. That's fine and all will be taken into account, but don't degrade the thread with posts that are unbecoming.

I for the most part stay with the editors spirit of how they see their players. There were changes for balance. For the most part, I left potentials unless I felt they were too far out of bounds.

There are roughly 1500 user created players in this set.
All minor league players are edited to be a real player, with all faces done.

The set is mirroring Opening Day as best as possible in lineups and rotations at all levels. There were some cases where a total AAA or AA could not be met, as prospects took precedence.

I don't want to mention any editors in particular, but RidinDwnKingsley must receive a big mention here. The guy is just tremendous in his efforts to get this set out. Big kudos here.
There were many... Visit the chart
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...rive_web#gid=0 to see everyone involved. A lot of guys went above and beyond...

Also note that Willard76, a major contributor is going to take the O.D. set and edit a ton of things (including SCEA players, which are all "stock" on this set) for his release of the Hybrid set (here is the thread, I encourage you to check it out.)

I hope I didn't leave anything out.....

-25 is designed for less weirdness.

If not using 30 team control their will always be weirdness unfortunately, the game just isnt tuned good enough not ot use it, but even if it was it will never be perfect, because the game dont recognize players for who they are and there is no way they could make it do that.

25 man would be the best to start with, but once injuries hit lineups rotations and stuff will get messed up.

30 team control can be just like controlling 1 team with 2 profiles set, 1 for you and the other for the others. That way you can set them all to auto, but keep an eye on lineups, and the trade wire. That way you will know if a team has made a trade that doesnt seem realistic and you can just cancel it out.

Its up to you as its your game, but just wanted to let you know that 30 team control can be just like 1 team. I have always been surprised at how many people get confused on this option and think they have to control the other organizations.

No word on that yet but hopefully the OSFM
Hybrid Roster v1 will be out within a week. Modder Willard76 and his crew has their own thread for the roster set (which is based off of the OSFM in this thread)

Why are players like Yu Darvish Clayton Kershaw and others listed as single a players?

Because they were on the DL to start the season.

They started the season on the DL.
These are set to Opening Day.

Side note:

I have been working on a companion "app" for this set.
It's a spreadsheet containing all the info/ratings/contract dollars/contract length/40 man status and minor league options for all players.
I'm starting with the position players first and will finish all of them prior to starting pitchers.
I've got the N.L. East completed.

If anyone knows of an app that has customizable hot/cold/spray charts....let me know.

Thanks.

Wait, so the latest roster update will have accurate contracts? Or it will just have the info listed in the spreadsheet?

Probably just the spreadsheet as the game itself bases the annual contract value on player ratings. At least that's how it worked last year

Yes...just the info that is on the Opening Day set.
I would do contracts correctly if it was possible....but there is just no way.

The reason I'm working on the spreadsheet is really for tracking.
While it will certainly be a big help in trades/signings...etc the main reason is this years version of the game is the best in terms of longevity. The progression/regression system is the best it's been. Certainly the most interesting.
I want to be able to track my "prowess" at cultivating talent ......and I needed an easy way to check on the base for that.

Plus...it's a good way to call up some info without having to do so and interrupt the flow of the game!

Yeah the only way is to adjust their rating, release them to FA, then resign them back to the team. Adjust the rating higher or lower to affect the contract length and salary. I did this before on another roster and it was crazy time consuming.

I'm thinking about doing this though after seanjeezy releases his pitch edits. I think realistic contracts would be a huge addition to the rosters.

Has anyone ever noticed Curtis Granderson is only on a 1 year deal on OSFM? Would the FA trick work?
