MLB 14 The Show Video and Screenshots - The Stadiums (PS4)

We just received a new video from Sony of MLB 14 The Show featuring the new and improved stadiums in the game. The video centers around the theme of "The Cathedrals Are Better."

We have also grabbed plenty of screen captures from the video. You can take a look at them in the screenshots section.

Some tidbits:

PS4 allows for individual blades of grass to be modeled allowing for more realistic striping of playing surfaces.
Up to 1,000 unique character models in the stands. Kids will be amongst the spectators.
Bat boys are included.
Better color depth and accuracy, especially for night games. Seriously watch the video it looks amazing.

There are more then 350 new fielding and batting animations only on PS4 version.

In a way, that is a feature lol. The signs are actually hand drawn by some of the devs and us community day guys. Knight165 did all of the signs for the 5-7 year old representative signs!

This gives me hope that the Liberty bell at citizens bank park will finally be accurate.

Yeah this is my one complaint. It's something we'll just have to deal with this year and hope that next year it's a huge priority.

Yes, and I'm sure those 350 new animations will look very good. But the problem is the thousands of old animations that are still in the game directly from last-gen that instantly stand out.

NBA 2K14 got a TON of things wrong this year, but the 2 things they nailed were player models and animations. The player movement looks lifelike and the models are picture perfect.I'd love to see The Show nail these aspects as well.

I know it probably took a TON of man hours to rebuild all the stadiums from scratch and to get the lighting this year, and it looks gorgeous. I just hope that next year they focus on animations and player movement in general, because that's the weak link right now. Everything else looks amazing. This is not me calling out the developers or saying it looks bad. I am beyond excited for May 6th, the game looks great. I'm just giving constructive criticism on what should happen NEXT, because they nailed these stadiums and they nailed the lighting.

Animations unrelated to pitching styles like fielding sure, but they were pretty specific with the fact sheet. The only new stances/motions are likely the slap and Japanese style swings. The other stances/motions are likely the same from the info on the fact sheet.

Awesome seeing kids. Definitely adds to the realism of the game BUT........is that Ramone chilling at a Padres game? Look at that smile. Adorable. lolol :P

Having as many animations as they do from current gen will hamstring them in many ways.

A few other things that I saw that I didn't care for are it seems hand/glove to ball interactions look largely the same. Granted, in brief exposure, but all the same.

Game should still look, play, and feel great. But I'm greatly looking forward to the game becoming more and more unique to the PS4 as the years roll by. Game won't even look the same in another 3 years. So there's that to look forward to.

well reviewers of the game and you keep mention, then a minute into the video see the exact same guy 3 seats within each other is all so it should be worded differently

No its worded correctly no where did I or text ever say you won't see the same person sitting a few rows apart. We've said that PS3 has 42 total heads and we can do over 1k on PS4. Year one there are a couple hundred heads.

I'm loving how everything looks like it's own structure if that makes sense. Nothing looks like it's blended or pasted on top of something else. Also, for those complaining that they saw one of the same crowd models, be happy that's all you have to complain about. I think that shows a testament to what SCEA does and how hard they work to put out an amazing product year after year. I simply cannot wait till May 6! Going to be awesome!
