MLB 14 The Show News Post

We just received a new video from Sony of MLB 14 The Show featuring the new and improved stadiums in the game. The video centers around the theme of "The Cathedrals Are Better."

We have also grabbed plenty of screen captures from the video. You can take a look at them in the screenshots section.

Some tidbits:
  • PS4 allows for individual blades of grass to be modeled allowing for more realistic striping of playing surfaces.
  • Up to 1,000 unique character models in the stands. Kids will be amongst the spectators.
  • Bat boys are included.
  • Better color depth and accuracy, especially for night games. Seriously watch the video it looks amazing.
Be sure to check out the video and let us know what you think of the new and improved graphics.

That's okay. It still finds a way to backfire on me though, heh.

I love the beauty of the skies, I just don't agree with the transitions.

Hey man I get it and I am sure you're not the only one.

Anyone else notice the ball boys down the lines in the field for the foul balls. I think I just splooged on myself. It's been tough trying not to purchase the PS3 version while I am on vacation, but I can't wait for May 6. I guess I better find a PS4 first though....

I can't tell if it's just cut out of the shot or not included but what about the LED sign in right field at Wrigley Field that they added last year? Does anyone know if that's in the game?

Pretty sure it'll be in the game.

Anyone know if the AL East Division standings embedded in the Green Monster at Fenway will be dynamic in the PS4 versus the current static and always the same and always wrong values in the PS3?

Looks like you can catch the edge of it on the right side of the screen on one of the shots. Too bad that the angles hide whether or not they added the walkway around the bleachers though. Basket still looks huge too, so who knows?

Lighting is insanely good in general - I was just hoping for more Wrigley views.

Why do they keep mentioning this, when its not the case for MLB 14???

A new lighting engine, a nearly 10x increase in polygon count and over 1,000 unique character crowd models bring these stadiums to life.

Daaaaamn son! That's one fine looking game!
That lighting is off the charts! Night games went from dull/bland looking on the ps3 to vibrant and alive on the ps4.

Few favourites without trying to repost any screens:

It's marketing, plus, they really can do over 1000, but they decided not to this year. I don't think they wanted to allocate that much memory to 1000 crowd models and take away from some other feature(s).

some thoughts...

Who is that in the Marlins shot? (hideous sculpture looks awesome btw)

Did you notice the LED board actually GIVES OFF light in Baltimore? You can see the specular highlights coming from it.

Worn out grass under the scoreboard in KC. Seriously SCEA, kudos.

And maybe its just me, but the lighting in the Baltimore dugout shot looks like the fluorescent lights they usually have on the overheads. This looks stunning.

As a completely OCD stadium and graphics detail person...this is amazing. I have an uncontrollable habit of looking for all thats wrong with every graphic in The Show, and this is seriously flooring me.

It's been the best sports game for years. Now they have taken it to a whole other level. Wow, just wow!!!

White scoreboards at Wrigley look nice.

Also, are the kids' heads huge or is it just me?
