Really digging the game too and have been for a while, I just didn't want to get into the debate and have to justify with others what I did with MY money.

For me it's about having control of my human control player at all times which this game does far better than any other option. Which, by the way, I have noticed there are small instances when they either delay, take it away, or reinterpret user input, ala 2K, and this is atypical of Live's traditional philosophy. I hope the masses aren't able to convince EA that the only way to simulate basketball is with long drawn out animations that look pretty but render the controller a "suggestor" instead.

I also like the Help D, Spacing, and several other aspects that have already been mentioned. Naturally Live isn't the prettiest thing I ever saw, but if the choice is between controlling and suggesting, I'll be happy to control stick figures as opposed to suggesting how photo realistic ones move and play.

Bottom line is I agree with Will and Flight. Similar story I bought 2K, although mine isn't broken in the sense it's not operable, but since first converting 2K in NBA 2K10 I lamented the lack of control and or sluggish response to input in that series and when picking up 2K14 I found it to be more of the same. I was ready to just give on video game basketball because the reviews for Live 14 are/were abysmal and I thought that many people can't be wrong. In desperation I bought Live because there weren't but so many games available for my PS4 and found it to be refreshing. I liked Live 10 but unlike most I felt Wangs contributions were to bring 2K like approaches to the Live series which I didn't like. It was with his arrival that I first notice "suction D" and locked in contact animations. I admit I formed that opinion purely out ignorance because I don't really know who brought what to Live 10, but I do like that this game is going away from that type of stuff. I do think they should increase the size of the contact patch, or whatever you call the area that the CPU uses to detect contact between two players because it would make defense and creating contact in general much more consistent.

Funny thing as I lurk around and read you guys' debates I chuckle at how the world goes around. I remember the days when the 2K crowd was evangelizing it and saying the overly complicated controls represented depth in the game and it wasn't a pick up and play title because that would be "arcadish" and how you had to take the time to learn the game to truly appreciate it. Pretty much the arguments have flipped and it's hilarious.

One more thing, for those of you having trouble with points in the paint and post defense, I've found the proper defensive angles (as coded in this game) to be shifted slightly toward the baseline instead of directly between the player and basket. As a result in order to create contact with a player driving to the basket you have to defend his outside shoulder. I kinda think of it as defending the sides of the box on the backboard instead of guarding the rim. As far as post defense, I've found the "slides" to be ineffective especially against the spin to the basket, instead don't let the post player get into your body allowing him to spin off of it. When defending the post back up off the ball handler a half step so that you can quickly move with him and you'll find post defense quite easy in this game.

Synergy is definitely alive and well. Steph Curry was killing me early in the clock yesterday. Guy was shooting with 18 seconds left on the shot clock. Has one of the quickest releases that I've seen yet. Love the rotation on his shot as well.

The times that the CPU becomes brain dead, what are you seeing 24th? I've had several instances of guys getting into the paint into a backdown, and never making a move resulting in a 3 seconds call, but it doesn't happen very often, maybe 1-2 per game. Are you seeing some other things going on? I normally play off ball and help in the post to prevent the post cheese going on.

Stinks that you aren't finding it to be fun. I agree, it won't be for everyone. Do you think more player signature elements would be key, or what would drive it to be a more fun experience for you?

Hopefully the paint/interior defense will be resolved semi-soon, the same with sliders.

I'm still having a blast with it luckily, and don't forsee that changing anytime in the near future.

Very good suggestion. I was going to play around some more with this over the weekend, to see if I could combat it moreso. Glad to see that you've already done some of this stuff.

Good to see you around. It's been a LONG time.

And the debate, well, it is what it is. This game isn't for everybody at first glance. But those who are willing to overlook some of the glitz and glamour, and spend some time with it, I'd say 3 out of 5 would probably really enjoy the game at a minimum.

quick question on this. are you noticing this in normal play where you *should* have control or more in instances where you are trying to do something that someone wouldnt be able to do irl? for example trying to slide defensively to the left then moving immediately back to the right while your momentum is taking you to the left?

I know what he's talking about, and I've actually sent some feedback in regards to just that. Sometimes I'll be in the passing lane, and when the ball nears, I'll press the steal button, only to have no resulting steal attempt. It happens infrequently, but noticeable.

So Harden and the Rockets are off the hit list. Finally beat them last night on all star/12 minute quarters. Harden had 38 again, Dwight had 28 and 15 and the best part is Asik only took 5 shots(Synergy). Garcia and Beverly helped a lot off the bench but the had no answer for Lillard and Aldridge.

They tried though, they changed to a 2nd gear in the 4th. I could clearly see they started playing tigher defense and started pushing the ball up more for easy buckets.

I'm in love. Not perfect but great bball.

Steph Curry, Lee and Bogut are on my hitlist tonight. They have destroyed my poor Mavs at least 3 times now. Steph and that damn quick release and D Lee on the boards.

Looking forward to a good night unless the wife interrupts.

I can't dislike David Lee any more than I currently do. The guy is everywhere. Love the way GSW plays though. Steph is attacking constantly, shots early in the shot clock. Its awesome.

Playing my Grizzlies vs the Nuggets and i am impressed with how the defense has adjusted. Started out strong with feeding Gasol and Z-Bo down low and got a quick lead but here in the 2nd quarter they are starting to double team them when i pass down low, thats pretty awesome.

Raptors Kings trade is in. Jersey numbers not accurate yet, Gay is wearing 22. I believe he's going to be 8. Good to see its there though.

Hey everyone, this is my first post in any forum! I apologize if this is in the wrong thread, I feel like my gripe or "complaint" is a little thing to most people so that is why I am here.

Went out and bought this game yesterday after reading all the threads on it, I originally laughed at it when I played the demo and saw the review.

I have picked up the last 6-7 2K titles and was always hoping for another viable option. When I played this years next gen 2K I originally loved it, however I began running into all of the same issues as everyone else and the VC is unbearable.

So that led me to want to actually give Live a go. I was so excited to go get it after work, even went out in a snowstorm! I must say, I love the menus and different features of the game. I think that Ultimate Team is awesome and probably what I would play most. The game play itself is alright so far, the controls are taking awhile to get used to. I can deal with the graphics and animations being off for now, hopefully it is better in Live 15.

*The one thing that I am really struggling with are the cameras/lack of cameras. I LOVE the 2K camera in NBA 2K14. There are only 4 different cameras in Live and the broadcast angles don't do it for me, I like to be behind the players and be able to see all the action as if I was sightly above the players. I know the two baseline cameras are similar, however it feels much too far from the action and is much harder to read the Offense and Defense IMO. This game would be so much more enjoyable for me if they added a new camera similar to the 2K camera.

Now I'm new to this game so if I'm wrong and there is an option similar to this would someone please help me? I want to be able to play this game and enjoy it but for me right now, the camera is killing it.

i think the best place to post this would be over in one of the wishlist threads. i know easports_aj looks around there (at least he was a few days ago) for feedback. im not sure if new cameras could be added in a patch but it wouldnt hurt to add it to the list.

Many say this game is slow and sluggish, for the most part it is. However while watching the Nets vs Clipper last night I feel the pace of Live 14 is a lot closer to real life than any other hoop game ever. Could be a tiny bit faster, that's where sliders would be nice.

Deron Williams cross over on Cris Paul with the Pick&Roll played out very close to the pace of Live 14 would. Seeing this in real life made me love this game even more.

I agree. Spacing and speed wise, its near perfect. I saw several things last night during that game that made me compare it to Live haha.

I guess most people aren't playing live season mode?

Just in case some people didn't know you can change the cpu line up before starting the game. Just don't back all the way up to team selection.
