NBA 2K14 News Post

Franchise modes are a passion for me; they are my go-to mode in any sports game. I truly enjoy the challenge in taking a struggling team and rebuilding them into one of the best teams in the league. It’s a very cerebral experience, one that requires a certain level of shrewdness. For years, our award winning Association mode has put you through the trials and tribulations of building a team that can co-exist while trying to win titles. We had some pretty defining features during the last generation in The Association, but for this generation, it’s a whole new game.

Wow, this mode seems like it's gonna be a lot of fun. Very deep.

How is your current Assistant Coach going to feel when you tell the press that you would like Steve Nash to be your top assistant when he retires
NO SAY WORD!?!?!? Players can become coaches when they retire!?!?!?

Yeah I nearly choked on my gum reading that part! I'm making D Fish an assistant coach for the Thunder ASAP!

Simballer did you post this straight to OS?
If so, I'm not one of most active or "rapresentative" members here, but I really, really appreciate this

Generational Players – I particularly enjoy this feature as it makes some drafts very intriguing. Once in a blue moon, a very special, generational prospect (think LeBron James) will come through the ranks. It’s a common understanding around the league that this player WILL be the #1 pick in the draft. His predicted draft stock WILL be #1 right from the time of his creation. It’s just understood, this guy has got next. They don’t come around often, but when they do, teams with picks in the ballpark of landing him will value those picks accordingly.
Damn 2K...

Damn

I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS! (so glad I preordered!)

Custom draft classes too!! Answers question about 2kshare, rosters, etc.

Was a good read. I can finally get back into this mode now. It got stale over the years and I became primarily a myplayer guy but I think im going back to running a team.

2K is finally giving us a reason to play deep into a career mode. This is just mind blowing and it's only the first game on next gen. I really might play every game of the season.

I. Just. Want. To Play. Basketball.

I just want to run a Bucks Association. I don't wanna worry about my standing with an Owner, or how happy/unhappy the fans are, or none of that extra stuff. Why can't I just play multiple years with my team?

So you basically want a bare bones season mode that goes multiple years? Then this basketball game might not be the one for you this year.

People cry and moan that Association mode was never touched, then they do something revolutionary, and people want a bare bones boring, no challenge mode.
Once things start getting real, then people complain. We finally get the franchise mode we've been clamoring for, and people complain that they want the same boring, no logic association mode back.

It blows my mind.

Some things that I loved to see:

1. Players retiring and becoming coaches, also being able to promote your assistant coach to head coach.
2. The ability to purchase your own team after achieving a certain amount of success as GM.
3. Custom draft classes and being able to bring your own customized roster into the mode! (No mention of being able to edit rosters inside the mode though)
4. I'm loving all of the RPG elements that they added to make each file unique and to create a diverse experience.

And they still left a regular season mode in there for y'all. Now how deep will that Season mode be? We don't know.

I don't care. I'm all in on this. I hope since they've added this "generational" player thing that the draft will be better with busts and sleepers tho.

There is a season mode if you read the article...

The AI will make or break this mode. Hopefully the former.

Also that screen of Carmelo declaring for free agents made me giddy.

Also, the fact that small market teams can no longer sign big time free agents (Or it's at least more difficult) makes the experience a lot more realistic

Really? REALLY??? You find it hilarious that I wanna play Basketball, in a BASKETBALL game? All they had to do was fix the trade/free agent logic/rotations and maybe a few other minor tweaks, and Association would have been beautiful. Now, in order to run an "Association" I have to worry about a bunch of sh-t that I have no interest in worrying about. It might as well be named NBA 2K14: The Sims Edition.

I understand there are ppl out there that want all this stuff. But YOU need to understand that there are ppl out there that DON'T want that stuff. And it seems that we are the ones that are being ignored. Good for you. Bad for me.
