NBA 2K14 News Post

Franchise modes are a passion for me; they are my go-to mode in any sports game. I truly enjoy the challenge in taking a struggling team and rebuilding them into one of the best teams in the league. It’s a very cerebral experience, one that requires a certain level of shrewdness. For years, our award winning Association mode has put you through the trials and tribulations of building a team that can co-exist while trying to win titles. We had some pretty defining features during the last generation in The Association, but for this generation, it’s a whole new game.

deep mode.

This mode looks like a potential classic in the making.

Red flags to me are the VC ties - the more I see that it is tied into aspects of running the franchise the more worried I am that the disconnect from reality will destroy the 4th wall of gaming.

I also see the sandbox mode being limited to one season as a red flag.

2k will have the next 3-5 years to polish and refine this mode before they will use up their goodwill. I just hope this mode gets transferred to the PC version next year.

Wow. So I may be getting this PS4 sooner than I expected....

I appreciate the kind words, but I also understand the concerns. There will always be a yearly schedule and a balancing act, and we'll always do our best. Can't wait for all of your feedback after you get some good hands-on time with the mode, because this is the beginning of something I've been wanting as an Association fanatic for years.

It will be hard to balance my daily time playing MyGM in 2K14, designing and working on 2K15's version, and lurking OS and NLSC for great ideas. But judging by how passionately I want this mode to be amazing, I think it'll all work out.

Sleep is for wussies.

Hi Leftos, I asked this question many many time, but I never had an answer: in MyGM is it possible to select the lenght of the season (14 or 29 games) or not (82 games) ?
thanks in advance.

One of my biggest questions as well. Can we play any game on the schedule or can we only play as our selected team?

I felt this way at first too, but i'm glad they still allow us to edit draft classes. but we can only edit other players "outside" of My GM, because Eric Boenisch wants us to have a "controlled experience" with his new My GM mode. I get that they want users to really play this mode, however, they are forcing us to play it by taking away FULL FREEDOM to edit player tendencies and ratings "IN' My GM. Why do that? I like to play up to almost 25 years into Association(Now My GM) mode. PLUS, after 4 or 5 seasons in My GM, current NBA stars like Lebron and Wade and many other great players on the game get old and retire. I want to be able to create future stars and superstars in draft classes, and edit them AFTER THE DRAFT when they sign with a team so that the competition level still keeps me intrigued and there is always great future role players, stars, and superstars to compete against. Lets say I create three 20 year old, 73 rated prospects to have a potential of 84. But since we cant edit their attributes and tendencies AFTER the draft is over, what if their shot tendency is 30 and foul tendency is 80? What if I forget to edit those tendencies BEFORE they get drafted? Sure, they will develop but it wont show in their play(when I compete against the draft class players I edited before the draft) and it won't show in their numbers in the league(stats). Taking away the ability to edit ALL players on other teams "IN" MyGM mode was a mistake by Eric Boenisch. I don't necessarily NEED 30 team control. In the current Gen 2k14, 13, you could go to the trade screen and still conduct trades for other teams WITHOUT actually controlling those franchises, however, I still want the option to control ALL 30 teams. Gamers need freedom.

We can only hope that we get those things back next year.

Co-Sign on this post! This is what I've been trying to emphasize for the long in here. The game is worthless to me without customization.

It would also be great to have a create-a-uniform feature in MyGM so occasionally you can change up the look of the team, or even the colors altogether. This happens all the time in the NBA. Jerseys now look distinctly different from the 90's (for some teams at least), which looked distinctly different from the 80's, 70's, and so on. This way we could replicate what the NBA does every 10 years or so.

This isn't revolutionary this same **** is in madden 12. Picking your coaches direction, players becoming coaches, upgrading your coach with xp, if a once in a life player comes out in the draft the team with the higher picks ask for more. all this **** was in madden.

Saw this diary and had to come comment. I had no intentions on purchasing a new gen system because I rarely use my current gen XBOX, but this game - this mode, seems like a game changer. I'll be picking up the PS4 hopefully before the yr is out.
