MLB 14 The Show News Post

PlayStation.Blog has posted some more MLB 14 The Show details in their latest blog.
  • You can now carry over your saves to future versions of MLB The Show. MLB 14 The Show lays the foundation for year-to-year saves, meaning you never have to worry about starting your Franchise or Road to the Show seasons over.
  • For some of you, full 9-inning baseball games may be too long for your liking, so we’ve created an all-new Quick Counts option, which utilizes generated pitch counts allowing gamers to play through full games faster than ever. Realistic statistics in this shortened gameplay experience have not been compromised. Users will now be able to play a full 9 inning game in less than 30 minutes, essentially cutting traditional game times in half.
  • We think Road To The Show is the deepest, most realistic single-player experience in sports video games, and we’re making it even better. A few of the new features include a new advancement system, new intuitive player creation process, and all new pre-draft prospect showcase.
  • What makes baseball great are those “big moments.” The power of PS4 will allow gamers to share those moments using the new “share feature” by capturing and publishing their most thrilling baseball moments, from hitting a game-winning grand slam, to picking off a runner at first for a crucial win in a World Series game.
MLB 14 The Show arrives for PS3, PS4 and PS Vita in the Spring of 2014.

Perhaps OSF should just have a Q & A with Russell because there definitely seems to be a lot of questions that will be asked.

Way to early to do that we aren't going to talk about anything new for a while. I'm only answering stuff about announced features and even that is limited.

Are we going to see rain in games? If so, rain delays, postpones, etc?

I doubt you could answer, but worth a shot.

I was wondering this too. Carry over roster files would be domination; I'm talkin' like '84 Tigers start of the year domination.

I highly doubt they are going to put their resources into a rain delay but I've seen some other users ask this question so I will try to remember to ask Russell at CES. Look out for my Q&A thread about a week or 2 before CES starts.
It's about the effect on strategy. If I'm playing and there's a 42 minute rain delay, I'm obviously not going to want to sit through 42 minutes of scenes, but I am going to enjoy having to shift my lineup and bring out a new pitcher to deal with the fact that my pitcher has been sitting there for 42 minutes

Russell if youre still perusing this thread, Id like to ask about DD and if the PS3 & PS4 will be on separate DD servers or will PS3DD be able to play PS4DD?

Yeah, us old timers know to mark our calendars on the Tue around March 6th.

This time it's March 4th.

I keep seeing "generated pitch counts"... What exactly does that mean?

It means when you come up to the plate, you already have a count on you.

So instead of it being 0-0 it could be 0-2 or 3-1..... etc

I guess I mean realistic rain, not the way it is portrayed in 13'. I want to see various rain, such as light, sprinkle, heavy, etc..

As far as delays, I meant games get postponed (Double headers?), etc.

I just think it would add to realism on cutscenes if it is raining hard and before the start of the game, you see the grounds crew unrolling the field before gametime, or covering the field during a delay, etc.

Not asking for 30 minute wait, that is pure silly. Simply some cutscenes hinting a delay because the rain is so hard, I want to see the rain too look realistic in the way it comes down like you would in real life.

Just something that would add to the realism even more. I can understand those who would not like it. Just something that happens in real life a lot that should be included IMO.

Off the top of my head....
(And putting away the baseball purist in me)

1.to save time....games will be much faster without having to sim or fast forward
2.It's a change......something different
3.If you are not the greatest or most patient hitter......this could be a great way to improve your average and lessen the k total

It could also be more challenging.

Now you cant work the count. You may go up and have an 0-2 count and cant follow any strategy but swing away and protect the plate.

There's a lot of pro's and con's about that.

I can't deny the fact that it would be more challenging. Knowing you come to the plate with a 1-2 count and 2 outs make things different then when it's 0-0.

On the other side, I'm a patient hitter and like to see what the pitcher can give me. Want to see the break on his pitches, location, etc. You stil can use that even if you're 2-0 but when your 1-2 or 0-2, that's another story.

I would say the beauty and fun of this option will be directly link with the variety and randomness of the generated counts. I'm not against it, but wouldn't mind if you can stil turn it off if you don't like it.

Honestly guys, why would it be mandatory? I don't understand the minds of gamers at times. It's SCEA. It's always an option.

Don't include everyone since I was the problem on that one to begin with. I was too lazy reading all the article and I answered with what I would like not what it was suppose to be.

I agree with the fact that SCEA is trustable on that matter and don't make things mandatory most of time. If that was the case, they would lose the SC in front of the EA.
