MLB 14 The Show News Post

PlayStation.Blog has posted some more MLB 14 The Show details in their latest blog.
  • You can now carry over your saves to future versions of MLB The Show. MLB 14 The Show lays the foundation for year-to-year saves, meaning you never have to worry about starting your Franchise or Road to the Show seasons over.
  • For some of you, full 9-inning baseball games may be too long for your liking, so we’ve created an all-new Quick Counts option, which utilizes generated pitch counts allowing gamers to play through full games faster than ever. Realistic statistics in this shortened gameplay experience have not been compromised. Users will now be able to play a full 9 inning game in less than 30 minutes, essentially cutting traditional game times in half.
  • We think Road To The Show is the deepest, most realistic single-player experience in sports video games, and we’re making it even better. A few of the new features include a new advancement system, new intuitive player creation process, and all new pre-draft prospect showcase.
  • What makes baseball great are those “big moments.” The power of PS4 will allow gamers to share those moments using the new “share feature” by capturing and publishing their most thrilling baseball moments, from hitting a game-winning grand slam, to picking off a runner at first for a crucial win in a World Series game.
MLB 14 The Show arrives for PS3, PS4 and PS Vita in the Spring of 2014.

I know there's been more than a few people asking for that over the years.

Can't get over how majestic Werth's hair and beard are. This is the sort of player realism many have only dreamed of. Now it's a reality. I'm absolutely stunned. Gotta believe this game is going to have some amazing depth and presentations as well. Can't wait!

One complaint: March is so far away.

omg this is what I have been waiting for. Ability to continue seasons from year to year and one pitch modes ( or sounds like something similar ).

If they can include tiger stadium I might never get to play it though because I would probably have a heart attack. I CAN'T FKN WAIT!!!!!

I'd like it to be March now...

Ha we wondered how long before someone saw that. We don't doctor screen grabs WIP all the way. Or maybe he's wearing invisible pants?

GOD BLESS San Diego Studios!!!

I really hope editing draft classes will be a feature this year, it goes hand in hand with transferring save files

Ramone said we would be "pleasantly surprised" with the release of news on '14. What an understatement that was.

My jaw has fallen off my face and down into the underworld. Those screenshots are absolutely un-freaking believable and that video of Werth makes me want to run around outside in any given direction in the 30 degree weather with no pants on.

and whats this? I can carrry my franchise over each year?

And this is the tip of the iceberg!! CHEERS TO SCEA!!

I'm in love!!

The lighting on the facial hair is insane. Crazy hi-fi shenanigans.

Ramone, you guys really are a special bunch. Wouldn't want any other studio working on a baseball game. Year end and year out you guys add features that just make this game that much better. I really can't wait for this one. My money is already set aside.

Cheers to all the effort you guys put forth in this to make us happy!

GENERATED PITCH COUNTS! I'm glad we have devs that actually listen to the community. These guys are the best in the biz and I wish there were more like them.

It basically means that the "count" on a batter (that is, balls and strikes) will be simulated by the game, and the player will take control on the meaningful pitch of that at-bat - the one that gets either swung on and missed/taken for a strikeout, taken for a walk, or hit into play. Plus I'd assume you can foul it off too to see another pitch. There are some finer points to that because not everything in baseball happens on that last pitch (pickoffs, wild pitches and passed balls, for example), but I'm sure we'll get more specifics on how it works later.

This is done to some extent when you're not batting in Road to The Show, and has been done in some previous baseball games. But it's a feature a lot of people on this board have wanted to get back.
