MLB 14 The Show News Post

PlayStation.Blog has posted some more MLB 14 The Show details in their latest blog.
  • You can now carry over your saves to future versions of MLB The Show. MLB 14 The Show lays the foundation for year-to-year saves, meaning you never have to worry about starting your Franchise or Road to the Show seasons over.
  • For some of you, full 9-inning baseball games may be too long for your liking, so we’ve created an all-new Quick Counts option, which utilizes generated pitch counts allowing gamers to play through full games faster than ever. Realistic statistics in this shortened gameplay experience have not been compromised. Users will now be able to play a full 9 inning game in less than 30 minutes, essentially cutting traditional game times in half.
  • We think Road To The Show is the deepest, most realistic single-player experience in sports video games, and we’re making it even better. A few of the new features include a new advancement system, new intuitive player creation process, and all new pre-draft prospect showcase.
  • What makes baseball great are those “big moments.” The power of PS4 will allow gamers to share those moments using the new “share feature” by capturing and publishing their most thrilling baseball moments, from hitting a game-winning grand slam, to picking off a runner at first for a crucial win in a World Series game.
MLB 14 The Show arrives for PS3, PS4 and PS Vita in the Spring of 2014.

How is that different from claims of comeback logic in relation to the 8,000 other features The Show has? Morons are gonna be morons, no reason to let that deter progress.

Generated pitch counts? Sounds interesting...does it just put you in 0-2, 3-2 all game? Is it based on player ratings (so Discipline actually does something in played games)? Does it fast forward to the "action pitch" (say the game runs the AB behind the scenes and the hitter swings on 2-1, so now the game jumps to 2-1 to show you the play) - though I guess that would be more for manager mode.

It sounds like an interesting feature, just wonder how it's going to work.

Carry over saves? Finally. A console game that actually gets the idea of converting/carrying saves over to the next version of the game.

I might be getting MLB14 just for the sake of the carry over saves...

New features have to be Next Gen right, PS3 maxed out and these features/game alone are system sellers. Only developer I see developing for current gen this past year is Rockstar

wonderful news. can't wait for another year of show baseball. been wanting generated pitch counts in for years, glad the wait is over.

another thing this does? allows me to play the game on default and not tinker with the sliders as much.

Completely agree! I've been wanting this for years from all my sports games.
With SCEA proving it's possible with next-gen, I surely hope all other developers stop their excuses now.

I believe it starts with 2014 franchises since I'm sure they've restructured the files to be compatible year to year.

I rarely comment on The Show message boards but I have to give the devs props for the carrying seasons from game to game. This should be a standard for all sports games. Bravo guys.

I only owned a 360 this past generation, and haven't played The Show since the PS2 days. I can't wait to play this on the PS4. Carrying over saves is a huge feature and I hope we see other sports franchises do the same.

The excitement and buzz that SCEA gave us in 1:53, is what EA has failed to do in months. This is what separates Developers who care about their customers and one's who care only about $$$.

Just so Russell and the guys know, The Show is the only reason I went PS4 and not Xbox One. This game is definitely a system seller!

I was planning to wait out the PS4 for at least a year, but I think this news has convinced me to get one when MLB the Show comes out!

Hugs all around. Free for the rest of the day.

If you don't mind tear streaks on your chest.

And those Fenway screens; they're, they're...

They're beautiful.

The concept of a quick game on generated pitch counts reminds me of an older baseball game that never ended up launching. I believe it was called Pennant Chase Baseball and it was supposed to have Ortiz on the cover I think. It sounds like a great feature if you want a quick game to play.

Franchise Carry Over is huge for me. As someone who buys the game pretty much for only the Franchise mode, it's going to be exciting to bring it over to the next game. I might also start playing RTTS more for this specific reason.
