A couple things that they could eventually add to realistically enhance presentation/crowd would be to have some trainers and ball boys at end of bench or hovering behind bench. Also, in CG and the next gen vid there was only one or two photographers/video camera guys per baseline!!! Even watching nba exhibition on espn right now, there are way more people sitting on baselines.
OK...did someone say that the intro cut scenes were from Current Gen?...If so does that mean the next gen game only is seen once the game tips off?
The first bit in the video was definitely current gen. I'm pretty sure it is just used as a basis of comparison before showing the next gen footage...nothing more.
looks good. pretty much what i expected. mostly a visual upgrade with gameplay being about the same. being the first year of next gen, i wasn't expecting completely different-feeling gameplay...and that's a good thing, since 2k14's gameplay is very solid and should give them a good base to build on for next gen in the future.
in the future, i expect them to use the next gen technology to clean up things like adding more realistic collision physics (like fixing arms clipping through bodies and contact between players).
That being said, the video is a small letdown. I wasn't expecting any insane game modes or anything gimmicky to sell me on next gen. I was excited about the possibility of more broadcast feel towards the game. Like different dynamic camera cutscenes, more animations that almost seem human life, authentic crowd sounds, and more dynamic commentary, maybe a whole new team all together. Or a different style of presentation, See Kenny's stamp of approval in 2k7. Just stuff like that.I thought something like this wuld be in the game with a 2k backdrop and just a quick clip of these guys saying, lets go to the highlight, Kellog. And proceed to roll the highlight clip, thus not even seeing the need to mouth sync it all all. Just start the dialog the same, and same something dynamic while its rolling the highlight footage, then end it with the same dialogue
I didn't see any of that stuff in the video. For the most part, the crowd still cheers. You can hear that one annoying whistling fan in the BG. Players model look great, no complaints there and No complaints about the court.
Still this game is still on the high end of the hype, considering it will be the most impressive next gen looking game out there. I admittedly expecting a little too soon, maybe through the generation they will be able to
Animations look actually not as good as current gen.
Game speed is too high for my liking too. I heard some of the old rim sounds. I wasn't gonna hurry to get a PS4 and I doubt 2K14 NG will change that. That trailer set my expectations too high.
edit: Not trying to spoil the party... I see lots of improved stuffs. Crowd and player models are really good.
Video is compressed....obviously it wont look as smooth as a game you play everyday on your TV.
So Gamespot uses terrible capture equipment. Then, it's compressed even further through the video player. Why even post the video then? And then use current gen footage in the beginning. smh
Gamersyde is the only site that will do the game justice.
These sites need to start investing in better equipment because if most games will be 1080p/60fps then how will we ever get a good idea of how the game actually performs.
smh If I was 2k, how could you not be pissed that a dedicated gaming site can not even come close to capturing your game properly? Not even a disclaimer explaining how the footage was captured.
