New Details Released on Player Sense, True Step, the War in the Trenches and More

The Madden NFL 25 next-generation gameplay conversation begins today with the debut of the all-new “Feel It” trailer. EA SPORTS will be rolling out full gameplay details on Madden NFL 25 website and Facebook page that highlight how the game reaches new heights on next-gen consoles.

New features introduced in Madden NFL 25 include Player Sense, which enables players to scan the field, anticipate situations before they happen and maneuver based on instinct for the first time ever. Players make up to 50 times the contextual decisions they ever have before, bringing a new level of intelligence to every player on the field. In addition, the implementation of True Step player motion provides unprecedented ball-carrier control, as well as the most organic, user-driven outcomes in franchise history.

Furthermore, the War in the Trenches fundamentally changes the dynamic of the offensive and defensive line. Linemen are able to make four times as many decisions per second, and 300 new blocking animations will lead to never-before-seen situations and outcomes. Offensive linemen intelligently identify the “Mike” linebacker, and shift and sort assignments at the snap in order to target the biggest defensive threats. While the offensive line brings a new arsenal of double-team blocks and blitz pick-ups the defense has gotten smarter too, utilizing bluffs, stunts and angles to find the weak point in the line, split double-team blocks or confuse the protection long enough to get into the backfield. Every down is a new battle to control the line of scrimmage.

Such a shame.

Can someone do a side by side comparison of the drop back shown above and the drop back shown in the new video posted today?

I among others have been calling for more realistic trench play for years, hopefully this is a step in the right direction. I like the DE's getting up the field. I'm hoping to have the option to double team someone on the defensive line

Still so much wasted motion by the pass rushers ...these odd angles waste crucial seconds while the QB is in the pocket...

Really, 60 decisions per second?

Sounds a lot like " we added over 400 new catch animations" of which only 5 ever triggered.

C'mon man!

Does look better, but only if you don't look too close.

I think my overall impression is that it looks solid. Yes parts of it looks current gen. But the overall game looks solid to me. While I want some real time raw footage. I'm happy with these videos for now. I know you still got some sliding from players and all, but it ain't going to be perfect. I love the way to the pocket forums better and I love the oline/dline interaction. I still want to see how the WRs and DBs interact tho. I want to see if the DB is still mirror imaging the WRs routes before the WR goes into their own route. But overall I'm excited about it and I'm ready to get it next month.

True step is for more than the ball carrier, watch the DB back pedal around 1:28

As of this moment, I have still decided NOT to buy (and I don't need the other 59).

I am with you 100%. Expectations for EA are so low that when they do something slightly right better it is cause for celebration. Line play should have been improved YEARS ago. And now that they completely ignored the improvement on current gen they are flaunting it for next gen. But these videos had both positive and negative in my opinion. The positives are that madden seems to FINALLY be taking a step forward. The negative is that EA is finally taking a step toward catching a game that was released six years ago with a limited budget (APF 2K8). Most people in this thread have been talking about the QBs throwing mechanics and how they hold the ball but the problem I have is that all of the QBs are throwing with a velocity like Brett Favre. And the lack of trajectory on passes is still way off. And before those people address me with the "wait till next year comments" I will tell you that I have been waiting. Very patiently I might add since I first bought my XBOX 360 and I didn't buy Madden for the fist time in about 8 years this past release. I wish I could play an NFL game that feels like real football but until then I am playing All Pro Football. It is the most complete football game from the last generation and I will advise it to anyone these days. Especially since you can buy it for like $2. I am happy with the steps Madden is finally taking but unhappy with the current state of the franchise.

lol and you still had 59 decisions left, you would've made an awesome offensive lineman

This is what I was referring to around 1:28

Does it not kick in until the animation of firing out of their stance ends? A little concerning to me.
I was gonna ask if true step applied to the OL. In that Chiefs deep dive OLine clip, there is a TON of foot sliding going on. I will say the quick fighting between the Chief and Bronco in the feel it trailer was HOT

Noticed that to. It was shown on purpose. Now go watch the defense when they're showing other things. ''True Step" isn't so true. I like the upgrades, but they're still using smoke and mirrors on a lot of stuff.

That said, they've kept my interest enough with today's vids that I'm leaning on keeping my preorder.

Even the deepest 2K stans have to give props to those blocking videos.

Yes we find flaws in everything (including the 2K Next-Gen trailer), but EA sold me here.

Yea I saw this even tho it is kind of hard to see it since the cam is focus on the oline/dline mainly. I think they are heading in the right direction for the next gen. Will it all be perfect? No it will not. But at least EA is starting to try and get their act together. These videos show that. It just takes time. Rome wasn't built a day. While yes some of these things like double team blocking and better line play should have been added years ago. Like the old saying goes "Better late then never". But overall the game looks a little bit better then current gen.

The had the entire console generation to make improvements. In many game-play aspects they literally took steps back from the PS2 and Xbox versions.

Having an actual realistic pocket which was the biggest complaint (OL-DL interaction) = A LOT better IMO

I agree with you... My original comment was addressed to the people saying the QB drop backs looked aweful.. My point was that I usually am looking at the WR when I snap the ball and not the QB!

Graphics don't look much better. Line play is more realistic. Just seems to be a small improvement. I think 2k just spoiled us with their trailer, so that we can't appreciate anything else.
