CPU AI: I swear every time I read one of these previews for a new NBA 2K game, the author is talking about how the CPU is so realistic and how each team plays like it does in real life. For the first time, I honestly feel like this year that statement is completely true. There are several examples I noticed:
Rockets v. Lakers - The AI consistently looks for Howard in the post, Lin in the pick and roll and Harden on Isos and pick and rolls. Shooters like Parsons hang out on the perimeter waiting for kick outs by Harden and Lin off picks. Houston also shoots a ton of threes like in real life. Cavs v. Wizards – Irving absolutely destroyed me with the pick and roll(40 points and a game winning layup) but he didn’t ball hog. CPU ran several post plays for Bennett and Bynum. Waiters also got a few touches but he struggled in the game. Grizzlies v. Thunder – CPU looks for Randolph and Gasol consistently in the post. Randolph plays like he does in real life. For example, he went to work in the post on two straight possessions. One ended with a baby hook in the lane. The second was him pivoting to face up Ibaka and sinking a 17ft jumper in his face.
This was a well done preview, it covered tons of aspects of the game gameplay. I do wonder if the NBA 2K PS3 to PS4 discount is europe only tho? If anyone knows if it's also the usa let me know.
Do you see the upgrade in blocking becoming a factor in getting people to change their shots mid-air? With the lack of it in 2k13, I never had to change my animation when doing a layup because there was rarely a threat to be blocked.
This is a buzz kill, I mean come on 2k, you had the option of choosing to double team in the previous games and now you take it out, I mean for what? were people complaining? I mean this is basic basketball strategy. You want to double Lebron on the wing but the AI(CPU) picks the defender guarding Mike Miller (because he's closet) and leaves him open for a wide open three... Sometimes I wonder if the guys who develop the game's AI know anything about the strategic part of basketball..
Enough ranting just got a quick question:
Does the CPU guard the pick and roll differently if you are running it every single time and getting positive results? For example, If I use the pick and roll quick hitter for D-rose and I get to the basket on 5 straight possessions on the 6th possession will the CPU double team me?
I have to admit this is a glaring omission....and it was already in the GAME in prior years!!!
The idea is at the heart of basketball and fundamental to how the defense rotates. I just can't understand why this was taken out.
They had it right too. You could bring the double team from the opposite end of the court and the defense would rotate back around after the double team was broken up.
It worked. They took something out of the game that worked correctly.
aholbert32 can you check to see if they upgraded coach mode at all? Can you call authentic plays or is it just quick iso X player, 3pt for Xplayer, etc from last year????
Sorry meaning, is it more involved like off court stuff, voice, and when you make decisions seeing the GM, does it truly change the journey your on?, or is it still scripted still ending with him saying "no doubt?"
*ShoeCreator - Any changes?
*Editing Shoes - how's that?
*Shoe Limit
*Accessories - long hex pads like D-Wade, Kyrie? Stackable?
*What are some unannounced shoes?
*Classic Teams - Any changes on who's there?
*Reggie Miller - Is his name still under Pacer records like 2K13?
*Jerseys?
*All-Star Weekend/Blacktop?
*Import Association/Season Team?
*MyPlayer Closet?
*Provide a Roster file via USB to check out please?
I know someone already asked this, but it needs repeating.
Does setting a pick still break up the play?

I dont know if you got the question though. In mycareer playing as a big man playvision shows you need to set a pick. The moment you do set the pick, play is cancelled, as if the Button (B) on xbox is shortcut to cancel the play. Does this still exist? This kills the mode playing as a big, since we cant use any plays that involves me setting a pick.
appreciate you taking your time to answer our questions.

I have been thinking on why this could have been taken out. It occurred to me that if they setup their rotations to work a certain way. Allowing a user to pick the double from a position that is opposite how the rotation was built to work could create a bug in gameplay where double team equal a broken rotation.
That is just me speculating but it sounds feasible. I miss the old way for sure.
