Is Moody now a Gamechanger?

Great posts, Big. I saw the Moody video and was shocked at his point of view, considering the game still looked like "Madden".

I hope I am very wrong, but I just don't see the core of the game being different on gen 4. It should be, but I feel there will be more excuses. It should not take three years into gen 4 to fix all of the issues. This should have started when the development for the game started during the past couple of years. Based on their half baked development history, I am thinking more shortcuts were taken instead of just simulating real nfl football.

It may play better when the demo comes out...but you're right. It looks the same, still has the same issues, etc. The "endorsement" sorta sounded more like "If I keep harping on how bad they make this game, I won't get this sort of opportunity any more, so I've got to tone it down."

Just gotta realize this game isn't made to be a full simulation game.
Stop wasting your time if that's what you are looking from in madden.

I have hope for next gen Madden, but it is predicated on 3 things.

This true step locomotion has to absolutely, undeniably and unquestionably remove the effectiveness of zig zag running. You should simply not be able to do it. I these videos you can see that while the animations look better when running, with a wiggle of the LEFT stick you can still shake of pursuing defenders or more effectively juke out an oncoming defender.
On next gen, if I even try to do that I need my player to slow down entirely and be tackled with ease. He should really pull an acl or something lol but whatever.
If they can't even realistically represent that and entirely fix that, how can we have faith in DB//WR interactions?

Other things I will look at will be if ratings matter. If a 97 speed CB covers just as well as or better than an 88 speed 99 MCV CB. This will remain the same game I get sick of. If my OL all rated in the 70s blocks just as efficiently as a 90 over OL then there is no actual hope for a sim madden.

The third thing I will look for is whether the option will be the unstoppable mess it looks like it is now on current gen and whether I want to deal with every run play being a read option, and whether it is still as effective with Sam Bradford or Andy Dalton as it should be with RG III.

This is a very simple litmus test to see if my faith in this dev team is founded in anything but my own desire for a realistic football game.

No, and people have to understand his perspective has changed because of what the devs have told him and what they are going to do in the future, not neccesarily because of what he saw on current gen. The game is still going to look like "Madden" on current gen, I think most of us already knew that before it was even made. We are at the end of the console's lifespan and they simply were not going to make huge changes now, when they can just focus on making the best game possible on next gen so we don't have to suffer through years of mediocrity once next gen Madden is released.

All I know is that if these guys deliver on their promises many of you will be shocked by how good next gen Madden will be in the next several years to come. Madden 25 on next gen, will just be the tip of the iceberg. I'm really looking forward to seeing how they address WR/DB interactions based on what Rex Dickson said about them. They plan to take a whole development cycle to work on them. Just like they did with O/D line interactions and blocking on next gen M25. You should expect to see a much better war in the trenches on next gen M25, double team pass blocking will be better than we've ever seen it in a football game.

However, what I expect or am concerned about is that the Ignite Engine, like the Infinity Engine before it, will be used to enhance the same ole Madden on new consoles.
Yeah even though that footage was really early, the game animated and moved exactly like current gen. I thought with the big increase in animation fidelity, and all the 50 times contextual animations, the game would look light years better even in its early stages. The same short disjointed animations and robotic movements were all still present. I can't say that that isn't troubling.

I'm still curious about the long intro into games, in some night games its in and others it wasn't. Where their two different builds at this event like at E3? So far the presentation and the stadiums sounds are still putting madden on my radar. Really hope Buffalo didn't get ignored yet again this year.

I don't want to go too far based off what little we saw, but I certainly see where you're coming from. The story will be told in a few short months.

I will say that my expectations have been tempered a bit though. I'm just not convinced that [for one example] the same guys who have bastardized the presentation in current gen are going to be 100% committed to it next gen. It's been almost 10 years since we've had GREAT presentation in a NFL game.

In addition, having listened to the Sim Perspective radio show last week, I sorta heard the lyrics to the same old song: "Remember this is year one on a new console, they're going to need time." And that's NOOOOO slight on my guys. Kudos to them for trying to set expectations. But I was hoping we would be able to turn the page on that mindset as we approached next gen. I got the vibe that we're still going to be trotting along year after year.

At some point, I think we all will have to embrace Big's thinking in this thread (including myself). If they wanted to make a simulation game with ALL the bells and whistles, it would be done. FIFA completely reinvented itself (as I understand it) in a 2-3 year period. I think the NHL franchise underwent a similar transition. While football is an entirely different sport, there's gonna come a time where we have to understand that Tiburon is going to make the kind of football game THEY want to make. And they have.

In saying all of that, it's beginning to be hard to conceive that Tiburon is setting out to make an authentic simulation of the NFL. If they were committed to sim gameplay, why is the default game speed always so fast?

Regardless of how good/bad it turns out, M25 on XBOXOne/PS4 should tell the story of where this franchise is headed. Like I said a few months ago, I'm not spending another console generation attempting to see the forest through the trees. It's been too long. With the regressions in the last year & change, I feel like my Madden 10 wishlist is just as relevant as it was five years ago.

I've been wondering the same thing. My guess is it is for next generation. Whether that means they have improved penalties in next gen, or it is purely a presentation addition remains to be seen.

No question, everyone agree, best commentary we've ever heard from Madden? I know that's not saying much, but much more natural and fluid?

SMH - Still no gang tackling! Solo tackles and some failed attempts at simulating gang tackling (one guy always falls off or back). Just seems to be much of the same from EA.

Watching real football the defense is attacking the ball. Guys flying all over the place to make the tackle. You don't see that EVER in Madden history!

Seems like all of these videos are on 360. Is there a reason why we are not seeing PS3 vids? Given the history of Madden on PS3 I'd like to see some vids of players being excited to play on that system.

If you just need to see PS3 videos I can find some from E3 for you. I know people always say WIP doesn't mean anything, but if you notice here there is no pre-game intros for the teams, no sideline reporter in pre-game, and no pre-game with Nantz and Simms on screen. The gameplay itself is a little different vs E3 too.

Here's one
