NBA Live 14 News Post

Kyrie Irving revealed on his Twitter feed that he is the cover athlete for NBA Live 14. Not really a surprise announcement, since he has been featured in everything that has been shown, including the EA Games E3 presentation and the BounceTEK demo during the show. We have posted the official press release below.

What are your thoughts on the brief in-game footage?

EA SPORTS Unveils Official NBA LIVE 14 Cover Featuring Kyrie Irving

Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star Point Guard Ushers in Next Generation for Franchise

Today Electronic Arts Inc. announced that Kyrie Irving will be the official cover athlete of NBA LIVE 14 when the game launches this fall on the Xbox One® console, and the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system. The first overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, Irving was named the 2011-12 NBA Rookie of the Year and was a unanimous choice to the 2012 NBA All-Rookie First Team. He was also named an NBA All-Star in 2013 and is the reigning Foot Locker Three-Point Shootout champion.

“I’m so proud to be the face of this franchise as it makes its much-anticipated return,” Irving said. “I’ve been on the court with the development team and I’ve seen first-hand some of the amazing things EA SPORTS is doing with NBA LIVE 14. The fans are going to love it.”

“We couldn’t imagine a better cover athlete for our game than the dynamic, explosive Kyrie Irving,” added Daryl Holt, VP and GM of Basketball for EA SPORTS. “Kyrie is one of the best ball handlers in the league, and with our next-generation technology we can arm players with the ability to replicate his impressive on-court feats, as well as the amazing signature styles and abilities of other pros in NBA LIVE 14.”

NBA LIVE 14 gives fans the chance to control the court with revolutionary new bounceTek ball physics, providing a level of control and precision never before seen in a basketball video game. Additionally, with the power of EA SPORTS IGNITE, NBA LIVE 14 will deliver True Player Motion, Human Intelligence and Living Worlds to the hardwood. More details on NBA LIVE 14, including information on game modes, features and more, will be coming soon.

I really hope this game is good because 2k has been making me mad latley when my 2k account got corrupted and they wont delete it. If this game has good gameplay im buying it over 2k.

What little there is looks good. I've never been a Live guy, but still pulling for them to turn it around this year. Two quality BB titles certainly wouldn't be a bad thing!

My thoughts exactly, I think we should at least give it a chance. It looks fantastic, and from this that's all we can say, so I don't understand why people feel the need to criticise this clip when it clearly does look good.

Why do we always have to put labels on these things? What about, "I've always been a fan of the most fun basketball game experience on the market"?

Since 2K1, I've noticed each franchise lacked something the other had, and I always dreamed of the day one of them would put together a game that contained all the strengths of their competitor. I feel like 2K has been complacent, focusing more on content than on the fundamental structure of the game, i.e. movement, animations. What's great about Live is it's new engineers, working on bigger stakes, trying to move the sports engine forward. I'm seeing NL14 as the future, not because of the name, but the new people behind it.

Not going to say Mk such until I see player interaction not pre rendered. Also making sure everyone doesn't have this body type.

My sentiments exactly. I want NBA Live 14 to be awesome, and I think it can be, but I'm still holding off on my pre order because of the threat/possibility of them cancelling again

The dribble animations look very good.

SMH EA is so funny for this trailer, the graphics look good the player didnt look as skinny as in the other trailer, BUT why put in game footage in the corner of the screen and at the sametime allow Irving to double dribble in a 5 sec clip lol and why are they so scared to show a real in game five on five clip?? but ill be positive and say it does look very good graphically so far.

Exactly but I hope they aren't lying just as much as everybody else, theres just something about this clip that looks funny and TOO good to be true, and it I see nobody else but Kyrie on the court, so I dont inderstand how this could possibly be in game footage. I really hope the game looks as good it seems tho.

It's not a knock on Live, just have always preferred the other title. Had some fun with '10 a few years back.

It is rendered using the game engine, hence it is in game footage.

Played Live in the 90's because I preferred it to the competition. Been playing the other title since '99 because I prefer it to the competition. It's just that simple.

You guys are funny. Make a big deal out of dumb stuff. It says In game footage not gameplay. I think they was just showing us how the player model will look. I guarantee you kyrie irving will probably look just like that in the game. Well I hope so. But come on people of course the talking and double dribble was just for show. That footage wasn't no gameplay footage. Just showing how good it looks.

Ppl talkin bout the double dribble - NOT a double dribble. The player model is NOT dribbling in actual ball game so the model just horsing around with his dribble does not count as an actual double dribble. They're just showcasing the player movement. How many of u have actually dribbled a ball, just playing around and discontinued your dribble while not actually playing in a game? I don't get how ppl have this misconstrued.
