NBA Live 14 News Post

Kyrie Irving revealed on his Twitter feed that he is the cover athlete for NBA Live 14. Not really a surprise announcement, since he has been featured in everything that has been shown, including the EA Games E3 presentation and the BounceTEK demo during the show. We have posted the official press release below.

What are your thoughts on the brief in-game footage?

EA SPORTS Unveils Official NBA LIVE 14 Cover Featuring Kyrie Irving

Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star Point Guard Ushers in Next Generation for Franchise

Today Electronic Arts Inc. announced that Kyrie Irving will be the official cover athlete of NBA LIVE 14 when the game launches this fall on the Xbox One® console, and the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system. The first overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, Irving was named the 2011-12 NBA Rookie of the Year and was a unanimous choice to the 2012 NBA All-Rookie First Team. He was also named an NBA All-Star in 2013 and is the reigning Foot Locker Three-Point Shootout champion.

“I’m so proud to be the face of this franchise as it makes its much-anticipated return,” Irving said. “I’ve been on the court with the development team and I’ve seen first-hand some of the amazing things EA SPORTS is doing with NBA LIVE 14. The fans are going to love it.”

“We couldn’t imagine a better cover athlete for our game than the dynamic, explosive Kyrie Irving,” added Daryl Holt, VP and GM of Basketball for EA SPORTS. “Kyrie is one of the best ball handlers in the league, and with our next-generation technology we can arm players with the ability to replicate his impressive on-court feats, as well as the amazing signature styles and abilities of other pros in NBA LIVE 14.”

NBA LIVE 14 gives fans the chance to control the court with revolutionary new bounceTek ball physics, providing a level of control and precision never before seen in a basketball video game. Additionally, with the power of EA SPORTS IGNITE, NBA LIVE 14 will deliver True Player Motion, Human Intelligence and Living Worlds to the hardwood. More details on NBA LIVE 14, including information on game modes, features and more, will be coming soon.

That was a nice, fluid double-dribble.

This is starting to look really good. I know it was only a tiny look but the player model looks a lot better compared to past Live iterations and the cloth effect seems to be fixed with next gen (thank God). I can't wait to see more. I'm actually holding off on pre-ordering both just so I can check the reviews and obviously so I can try out the demos and see which one I have a better feel for. But this may end up being a lot closer contest than I originally thought, maybe not with sales since 2k is such a household name now, but as far as quality, it looks like EA is finally stepping up to the plate! Can't wait to see some videos from Gamescom.

Exactly. No whistle?

I think the game deserves a look. It has me more excited about Ignite..across the board. I just hope, like many have said, that the actual team vs team gameplay is there. There are so many things beyond the thickness of a guy's leg that need to be nailed down.

Why wouldn't they be talking on court?

Looks good but Still ain't givin me anything. Can't complain can only compliment the visuals. I just can't wait. This game won't be out til November so we won't see 5on5 till may be the end of sept.

Btw I honestly wouldn't be surprised if live was better then 2k, I don't know this for fact but I'd guess they have been working on their game for next gen longer than 2k has.

Looks good to me. I could care less whether lip movement synced up with the dialouge well as I would not be playing at an angle that would make that visible. Good to see EA taking basketball seriously after 3-4 years of pathetic bball attempts and non-releases. 2k has comp again it appears.

I'm counting on live being #1 next gen. EA's ego has been completely crushed last gen and they have a lot to prove. Sorta like a short man syndrome. I believe because the company is way too big to continue to fail.

The calves are a bit big but its much better than stick figures. I'm not gonna hate on the graphics. But hopefully you won't be able to double dribble without the ref calling it.

Don't get me wrong, but after LBJ 2k14 trailer how am I supposed to be impressed/hyped by this?
not a smart move by EA mktg guys

Wouldn't really be my choice for a cover but certainly not a bad choice either. Trailer still doesn't excite me I really want to see some 5 on 5 gameplay. In the end trailers, screenshots, and the like have never excited me that much it all has to do with what the actual game is going to look like when I play it.

?

1. Lebron talking to Lebron was pre-rendered.

2. Kobe,Metta World Peace, Steve Blake, Dwight Howard, Ray Allen, and Pau Gasol were all there in the 2K trailer, it wasn't just 1 player on the court like lives.

3. They showed actual gameplay features like Lebron dunking, celebrating, stealing the ball in the 2K trailer.

And no I'm not a "2K fanboy", I'd actually like to see Live get some more fair treatment.

Really liking the look of the game so far. Even though we've been getting it in bits and pieces, it's looking more and more like it's worthy of purchase.

Graphically, it's on point. I like how the fingers seem to conform to the ball, as well as the wrinkles in the jersey/shorts and the cloth movement in general. Plus, the jerseys are actually on the shoulders, not floating.

Also, in case no one noticed, the accessory colors/setups look to be correct.

Also while the calf muscles DO look kinda big, I think it's the kneepads that make them look that way. The "fabric" outside the pads seem to be/look thicker than they actually are - it should fit skin-tight with the exception of the pad (obviously) and you can tell in the footage they do not. I believe that's why they look big.

But a BIG + for me is that Kyrie doesn't look too thin, or like a body builder (2K's current-gen models all have that look). If you compare the model shown to RL pictures of Kyrie, it's actually pretty close.

Overall it looks promising. I still will wait for 5-on-5 gameplay (and the Association, etc. modes) before deciding but for the first time in a while Live actually looks pretty good. At least, IMO...

Yeah but this clip was much shorter, the general premise was the same. Showed a clip of the the cover athlete taking, along with some gameplay which like the 2K trailer was rendered in game.

I cant believed no one has mentioned how good the crowd looks in the background!

# 58 EAGLESFAN10 @ 07/25/13 03:51 PM
Ok yall can stop talking about the calf muscles because yall know when the game comes out rosters will be edited

and the double dribble is really being thrown out of proportion

But anyway the graphics look nice but I just want to 5 on 5 gameplay anybody know when we will get that

# 59 youvalss @ 07/25/13 03:51 PM
Unless he really says that line in the game, this may or may not be in-game footage.

It may be, but this trailer does nothing to prove it, in my opinion.

Anyway, if that's what it looks like in-game, KUDOS EA!

# 60 2ksuperior9 @ 07/25/13 03:51 PM
I really cant believe you people think this is in game footage... Lol but kodos to EA for tricking you all
