NBA Live 14 News Post

Kyrie Irving revealed on his Twitter feed that he is the cover athlete for NBA Live 14. Not really a surprise announcement, since he has been featured in everything that has been shown, including the EA Games E3 presentation and the BounceTEK demo during the show. We have posted the official press release below.

What are your thoughts on the brief in-game footage?

EA SPORTS Unveils Official NBA LIVE 14 Cover Featuring Kyrie Irving

Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star Point Guard Ushers in Next Generation for Franchise

Today Electronic Arts Inc. announced that Kyrie Irving will be the official cover athlete of NBA LIVE 14 when the game launches this fall on the Xbox One® console, and the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system. The first overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, Irving was named the 2011-12 NBA Rookie of the Year and was a unanimous choice to the 2012 NBA All-Rookie First Team. He was also named an NBA All-Star in 2013 and is the reigning Foot Locker Three-Point Shootout champion.

“I’m so proud to be the face of this franchise as it makes its much-anticipated return,” Irving said. “I’ve been on the court with the development team and I’ve seen first-hand some of the amazing things EA SPORTS is doing with NBA LIVE 14. The fans are going to love it.”

“We couldn’t imagine a better cover athlete for our game than the dynamic, explosive Kyrie Irving,” added Daryl Holt, VP and GM of Basketball for EA SPORTS. “Kyrie is one of the best ball handlers in the league, and with our next-generation technology we can arm players with the ability to replicate his impressive on-court feats, as well as the amazing signature styles and abilities of other pros in NBA LIVE 14.”

NBA LIVE 14 gives fans the chance to control the court with revolutionary new bounceTek ball physics, providing a level of control and precision never before seen in a basketball video game. Additionally, with the power of EA SPORTS IGNITE, NBA LIVE 14 will deliver True Player Motion, Human Intelligence and Living Worlds to the hardwood. More details on NBA LIVE 14, including information on game modes, features and more, will be coming soon.

One thing I do like that I see is the varied heights of the dribbles throughout all the moves. Smooth

If its pre-rendered than that what it is. No way to flip or spin it.

in that case you could have put 2011, but again most people that use 2k in anything are very much 2k fanboys.. but My fault if you are not. I will be bigger and apologize, but anyway the actual video isn't rendered.. it looks damn good. Realistically live won't get credit due to NBA 2k's fanboyism

You ever seen Ray Allen's calves? Go take a look and google them. Makes the one's Kyrie has in that video like a small girl.

Looked good, but it does looked rendered with the in game engine.

They definitely cleaned up the player model as compared to the CGI trailer at E3. Still 5v5 footage.

So your saying Kyrie will be talking during the game with no teammates or no opposing team on the court. Like I said pre-rendered in engine not actual game play. The game could possibly look that good though.

If it comes out and the gameplay looks decent then I'll go out and buy it, but until then I'm skeptical. I have a hard time believing players are going to move like that in the actual game.

Just for comparison so that everyone complaining about calves being to big. Those are Ray Allen's. Truth of the matter is , basketball players have fairly big/muscular calves. Its how you protect the knee. Build up the muscles below and above the knee. There are plenty of players with huge calves too, its not just some freak thing Ray Allen has going on.

If this is "in-game", it's equivalent to a pre-rendered cut-scene. A marketing play on words to make people believe that's how the game will play. I want to see a great NBA Live 14, but I get suspicious when they do things like that. They still haven't shown any actual gameplay or gameplay screenshots. I just hope they don't cancel again.

when i say its actual game play, I'm saying thats how the game will look in game... Not that didn't do some type of editing to it

Did you say this about the 2K trailer? Which is the essentially the same as what you described. God you fanboys are dense....

Kyrie's arent small either though -

People are making them out to be strings coming out of their shorts. Blows my mind...

With Kyrie on Live and Lebron on 2k, safe to say 90% of Ohio will be buying Live regardless lol.

Graphics look really good. Animations are sick but I'm not giving them that credit until i see 5 on 5. Also I always see guys complaining about Live's players models legs/calves, now they try to make them bigger and people are saying they're huge, lol. Hey at least they tried.

If the game plays like that quick footage, that is amazing. That is the kind of movement I always wanted in sports. NCAA 14 on PS3 did quite well with fluid movements is the main reason I finally love that game.

Trailer = 10/10
