Yea it's gonna be tough for if there isn't a patch to fix the coverage and other nuances. I play every game in dynasty and do all the recruiting. Game might be enjoyable for a sporadic few games here and there but def not season after season. My $60 deserve better

I'll be glad when next gen football gets here as this gen has taken all the fun out of video game football games.
This is also my thinking.....no fix no buy!!!

Same for me I'm not buying unless the game is fixed. It's comical that the 06 version has better core gameplay

Ok, I've basically overdosed on NCAA 14 this weekend. I've played 11 games into my dynasty and while there are a lot of things I love about the new version, there are several things that have begun to concern me:

Primary concerns
  • Too many teams running the no-huddle, hurry up spead offense. This results in me having to defense with my dime package roughly 80% of the time, not fun. Endless hurry-up spread has gotten very old.
  • Some sliders don't work well enough or not at all (I have my interception slider at 0 and still get 1 or 2 per game, and the user kickoff power slider doesn't work at all)
  • glitches. I won't go into detail, but there are some nasty ones.

Other notes:
  • Run game and blocking is significantly improved, like it a lot.
  • new stamina/fatigue system and meter don't have the impact I was anticipating. Fatigue feels the same, it just seems like now we have a visual representation of it.
  • assisted tackles for user not registering
  • Recruiting is good so far, but since I'm very hands-on and interested in the depth, I don't find it's any faster for me. It is more interesting though, so overall an improvement. Looking forward to see how the offseason recruiting plays out.
  • I'm disappointed to see that the ability to turn Coaching Contracts OFF has been removed
  • Coaching skills and experience system is kinda neat.
  • I like the Infinity Engine/Force Impact system

I'm reserving final judgement to see if the primary issues can or will be addressed via patch/tuner.

Still the best Ncaa this gen and I'm enjoying it a ton.

Its not perfect by any means, but if you just keep looking at what's wrong with something you're not gonna enjoy it anyway.

I was going to hold off and buy a used copy in October-ish, but if these reviews continue, I'm playing NCAA 11 right now with my updated rosters I did myself, and I'm fine to just keep on rolling

I have played 7 full games and have not seen a fumble. I know most others are not experiencing this so I don't want to panic, but this is getting ridiculous. I always cover up when I am the ball carrier and I rarely use the hit-stick on defense, but in the past versions of the game I have always had a decent number of fumbles while playing this way. If this is an anomaly, it's a pretty damned nasty one.

I have only had one I can remember for sure with my RB, but I had modified his carry rating. It was mop up duty and I had my 3rd string HB in (Kenyan Drake #17), and when I had customized Bama's roster, I had lowered his CAR rating down to 68, I think it was. He hasn't fumbled any more, because I've had him riding the pine. So, it is possible.

I have had about 4 or so forced fumbles on the CPU. The most gratifying one was when I laid the hit stick on a scrambling QB with my DE and popped one out for a turnover.

Stone nails it. The CPU hurry up just isn't fun or cool at all. In fact I've found it leads to their best players getting hurt far too often.

Is it worth buying this year?

# 431 Skulletor @ 07/08/13 04:38 AM
#2 Alabama (10-0) meets #1 TAMU (11-0) and the game of the week is between a pair of 7-3 teams ranked 22/20

never change EA

Just a few things I've noticed during my time with the game this weekend (Heisman offense, Heisman defense. PS3)

-Read option is a blast and is probably my favorite addition. Ran a spread option in my dynasty and I'm loving it.
-Defense is completely broken. On heisman, it is near impossible to pressure the QB and zone defense is worthless.
-Passing went untouched. I can complete 75% of my passes with my 70 overall QB no problem.
-Lots of problems from previous games still in here. Ex: Have only seen skill position players injured. My starting QB, starting RB, backup RB, 2nd WR and 3rd WR have all missed at least 7 games in my dynasty.
-New recruiting and coach stuff is neat. Nothing that'll blow you away, but it is a welcomed addition.
-Menus are still super laggy for me. Advancing weeks in dynasty still takes awhile, as well.
-Recruiting felt a little unrealistic. I went with GSU, and I started out in the lead for 11 3-star recruits. Considering the current state of their football program, it was a little ridiculous. Saw lots of 1-star programs in the running for 4-star recruits, as well.
-Infinity Engine 2.0 is nice and leads to a lot of awesome hits, but it also leads to a lot of frustrating ones, as well.

While I love college football and really thought I'd love this game after playing the demo, it just didn't improve enough to warrant a $60 purchase from me.

That's something thats entirely subjective.

On the other hand, I do think people have been conditioned to expect a ton of flaws. And when that's the case, you're going to have a hard time being OK with the flaws that are there. I just don't want people to be under the false assumption that beloved titles like The Show and NBA 2K don't have their fair share of flaws/bugs either. I play those two titles more than any other sports game, and there's tons of bugs and glitches.

Where NCAA Football falters compared to other series is in its core gameplay. The glitches and bugs are something that come with video games in general. I don't know why people seem to be expecting otherwise.

PS: When I say all of this, I'm excluding the highly annoying fact that a few legacy bugs are still in the game.
I have seen nitpicking in the past where some complaints has been just been absurd and people was just jumping on the I hate EA band Wagon. This year I think it's different and a insult to gamers. We are finding legit issues with the game this year that just killing the game experience. Football is the number 1 sport in America so it will have the most passionate fan base of the sport. If you want to take the responsibility of being the only provider be able to step to the plate and deliver a solid not perfect game. This sucks for NCAA fans because they dont have a Next Gen game to fall back on, they have to wait tell July. NBA2k has it's flaws and so does MLB the show and it's talked about in there respected forms.

I have never went on a EA rant before on this site through all the years on this site because others said enough but after the touchback turn into a touchdown glitch I experience last night im pissed off because now your messing with the rules and core of the game.

With that being said the offense in this game got to much love. I like the foot plant and cuts this year. The O-line blocking is great this year which causes the running game to be better. The option game is strong this year which is a plus. Now unfortunately with the offense side being helped there was no counter to those things on the defensive side of the ball. The presentation is lacking bad that college atmosphere is not shown in the game. It doesn't feel like your in stadium pack with crazy college fans. Bowl games feel just like any other game.

I think it's funny that people expect this to be fixed next gen. It's still going to be EA football.

Why not expect it to be fix. There excuse all this generation has been the limitations in the program well the excuse is off the table. It's good to put those expectations on them with not forgetting the past.

Including this weekend and my time with the demo, I have seen two CPU fumbles. Both by the QB. I tried to run a WR reverse and got planted and he fumbled, but I have yet to see a fumble by anyone other than a QB.

Another "EA oversight"? Fumbles are in the game. "EA Sports. If it's in the game...." ahhhh nevermind

I have played 13 online rank games and I have only seen 1 fumble occur outside of the QB hands.

I stand by my statement from a few days ago that this game is incomplete and that's just my opinion.

I'm enjoying a lot of things the game offers but some of the core fundamentals don't work properly namely penalties. What is football without holding calls??

Hopefully a Release Day Patch comes out at midnight to address these issues

I agree I hate that I'm saying this but if the patch get these major issues down pack we have one of the best football games in a long time. It's sad that the game was manufacturer in this state.
