NBA 2K14 News Post

2K Sports released their Next-Gen NBA 2K14 trailer during the Sony E3 2013 Press Conference this evening.

The 'NBA 2K14 – Next Gen Reveal' segment featured NBA 2K14 cover athlete LeBron James discussing life as "Video Game James" with a digital version of himself, while showing off some of his on the court moves in NBA 2K14. All of the footage was NOT pre-rendered and shown from a pre-alpha PS4 build.

Wow.

I've been out of the 2K game for the last couple years but this has really reeled me back in and excited the hell out of me. The texturing and facial structuring/expressions are something we've never seen before. This game has been in dire need of more intensity and expression from the players on the court for a while now. Hopefully the days of blank stares after huge plays are gone. Color pallet is still too dull but maybe that is just the trailer. Hopefully.

And of course, the movement looks great, but since when has 2K faltered in that aspect?

Bravo 2K. With Live looking to step up their game as well, this year looks great for basketball fans (Something I haven't been able to say for 3 years now..)

I agree. It's been a long time since we had 2 solid basketball titles. On a side note, nice to see a fellow Rip City dude back.

With the demise of our talent came my lowered interest in basketball gaming haha. This past season has rejuvenated me though! Playing with D-Lill in the next gen of gaming will be something else!

Yes when IGN asked about Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions. 2K Sports Senior VP of Basketball Operations Jason Argent confirmed their availability and said, “We will be day and date launch titles for both of those platforms.”

Will you skip this gens 2k14?

Everyone knows 2K doesn't spill the beans early about gameplay and features this early, so why even think beyond what was shown in the trailer?? They wanted to show off the next gen graphics and they did a damn good job at it.

Im just glad it will be a day one title.

I think it would be hard for me to wait for the next gen and I would end up getting it for the 360 and the PS4. I am not a PC gamer but I think if the PC is a next gen port it will make the wait even longer. I was thinking about making a thread about it but I wonder what will 2K use to port to PC. Next gen or current gen with slightly better graphics.

Agreed, would love for the PC to have the next gen perks, i hope they don't do what EA did with the last couple of NBA lives on the PC, had last gen graphics on a more than capable platform. They didn't make a Wii U version so who knows.

Aside from Kinect, which most sports gamers don't really have a need for, can you really find any reason to justify paying an extra $100 for a system that's relatively on equal footing as far as specifications? Also perhaps add in the fact that the PS4 supports used games (Xbox One doesn't) and has no online check-in or authentication?

You can go ahead and spend that extra hundred dollars so you can sleep at night. Most of us will think logically and put some of that extra $100 toward NBA 2k14. That is to say, most of us will get a next-gen console and NBA 2k14 for a lesser price than your next-gen console. Cheers.

So far, Im leaning PS4, but the X1 exclusives got me thinking. Titanfall, Forza, and that Daybreak game look filthy.

Back on topic..I've watched this trailer at least 20 times and I refuse to believe that Kobe/Ray Allen chasing LeBron isn't live footage they edited in. No freaknig way thats in-game.

I'm believing 2K for now. I feel they're looking to make a big step-up off an already great game in 2K13.

the damn 360 controller is the only thing holding me back...its just so much better. But right now I really feel like PS4 is the system for the people. But yea, graphics are ridiculous.. I would prob pay just for the photo realistic graphics tbh.

The trailer gets better and better each time I watch it. Such a shame we will have to wait longer for the next gen game since I don't plan to waste any more money on current gen games. I am glad 2k has some friendly competetion back this year.

# 316 ForeverVersatile @ 06/13/13 02:57 AM
Well since the console war has started, I'll just say I'm getting a Xbox One. First and maybe a PS4 a couple months to year later. Only first party games will really tap into the power of the PS4 multiplatform games will run the same. Honestly the current PS exclusives aren't that great to me.

The Xbox has alot more potential for improvment in the future via Cloud. Just do a google search of cloud gaming, so that extra $100 in the short term will look much better in the long term. The PS4 is built to succeed in the first year or two of next gen, and the Xbox will get off to a slow start. But again, cloud will greatly enhance the experience on Xbox One after that.

A innocent question turns into this sorry I asked.

Maybe so...but Microsoft limited themselves to 1st world countries...everyone else that doesn't have great internet will go for PS4. No matter how awesome their cloud gaming is...the DRM system will not change...plus sooner rather than later that DDR3 ram is going to come back and bite them.

It baffles me how some people just keep on defending Microsoft...they clearly have no respect for their consumers and are really trying to rape them as much as possible. I own both a ps3 and xbox360 but the online connection and DRM stuff of the Xbox One is ludicrous.

No matter how anyone spins it, or how you defend Microsoft they are going to suffer this generation unless they are going to change some of these policies. Fine they had some great exclusives at E3...but how will they match up once the Uncharteds, God of Wars, Gran Turismos etc. start launching on PS4. Last of Us will also get a sequel sooner rather than later...Drive Club...Killzone...MLB The Show... The PS4 is incredibly easy to develop for so chances are that that will be the developing platform of choice. Plus PS+ is miles ahead in their offering compared to Xbox Live.

Anyways, back on topic. I can't wait for NBA 2k14...it's definitely going to be my first game on PS4.

I get what your saying, but if you had enough money to buy a console, wouldn't you have enough to have internet? I just don't think it is that big of a disparity as people are trying to make out.

SO much hate for the Xbox One, but when you think about it logically and long term, it might actually be a better option than the PS4. At the end of the day it is up to each person to decide, but i don't think many casual consumers will have a problem with having to have internet on.
