Madden NFL 25 News Post

VSN has posted a new podcast with Madden NFL 25 Creative Director, Michael Young. There are quite a few interesting presentation nuggets included, some of which we have listed below.
  • The Presentation playbook went away this year, but that doesn't mean the team hasn't been working hard on it.
  • Year 2 with Nance and Simms adds more depth in commentary, especially in career mode, more details on that at a later date.
  • Replays feel more human, varied and specific to the types of plays. Using real cameras, from the real locations in the stadiums (framing, timing, etc.)
  • New animated tickers, banners, feels more like a broadcast.
  • Added more team chants, first down and stadium sounds, since they went to many stadiums with Jim and Phil and grabbed live recordings.
  • More authentic tracks from various stadiums. Redone referee audio.
  • If you move your team, commentators will talk about that.
  • New sideline reporter has been added, will talk about that later.
  • Adam Schefter is still in the virtual news feed, breaking story lines, but he has also been added to the draft commentary.
  • When the draft is running, Trey Wingo is the host and Adam talks about the outlook and expectations of the player.
  • Brand new branching story lines for 30 draft classes and Adam made them sound authentic. Adam has been signed for a couple of years.
  • Can't place players on the PUP list. (Injured reserve IS STILL in the game) - Mike misunderstood the question in podcast.
  • Owners can't bid for Super Bowl hosting.
  • Overhauled Connected Franchise website, much more functional with tutorials.
  • Commissioner tools haven't been locked down, so they couldn't announce any of them.
  • Facial scans were made for most of last year's rookie class (roughly 20 didn't get in) All starting QB's and some QB's that could see some time.
  • Also ran facial scans for coaches, in total close to 100 facial scans made it in.
  • Players get scanned if they are available at events (for example the Pro Bowl) some simply don't want to. Basically EA gets what they can, when they can. It's not as easy as people may think it is.
  • They have tweaked the Zoom camera, didn't mention any other cameras.
  • The rumors are FALSE. There is no PC version of Madden NFL 25.
  • Head coaches, head trainers, head scouts and owners will be featured in story lines, not coordinators.
Remember, these were just some of the nuggets, make sure you listen to the entire podcast here.

Nice. Maybe, just maybe this will be like when MLB The Show replaced the 989 MLB series. Maybe that's why they went with Madden 25 this year. Maybe it will take on a new moniker after this year(doubt it but who knows). The Show did launch on PS2, but imo it was really a game that was built for PS3, and we've seen how it has excelled on the system. Maybe that's what they're trying to do with this next gen Madden. Really spin the direction of this series around. We'll know next week

This is the MOST improvement in one year on the 360/PS3 and you call it minimal lol. Unbelievable, I'm looking forward to how everyone will be talking about Madden 25 current gen once they see the gameplay videos next week. Most people definitely won't be talking about how they shifted focus to next gen after that.
I still think Madden 10 was the biggest turn around the game has seen on this generation. They've definitely worked on the game alot(we'll see how well these things actually look and play), but Madden 09 and Madden 10 is like night and day imo. I don't see the difference being that drastic between Madden 13 and Madden 25(lol@the number difference though). I see it being a much better game than 13(hopefully), but I don't see it being this drastic leap, especially with next gen right around the corner.

Madden 12 to 13 was the biggest leap IMO, but that's probably because I have played more Madden 13 than any other Madden this gen and am still playing Madden 13. I know everyone is excited about Kolbe for next gen but to be fair he is also a CD for Madden 25 current gen. We can't credit one and discredit the other.

So we can't be skeptical?? Also how do you know we will all be talking about 25 this gen come e3, have you seen something we haven't? If not you might want to separate your own opinion from fact...just saying.

O: Madden 25 looks epic, looks like EA is ending the current gen with a bang.

I've talked to some very reliable people who have had hands on time with M25 and based on what they said, I expect the community to be happy/surprised. The hunch back running is the biggest issue that I don't expect to be corrected completely based on what I've heard. Aside from that I think people will like what they see.

I do think that M25 will be better than M13 even though thats not saying much but it'll be next year's Madden that will be the best on the current gen systems as it will be the third game in their three year cycle and probably the last Madden for current gen systems.

I'm pumped about some stuff but at the same time, disappointed about other stuff. I'm still trying to figure out why the Pro Bowl cant be played. My main concerns that im still waiting to read about is if the overall ratings for players match the in-game overall ratings. The schemes completely screwed up the CPU rosters/depth charts/etc. in connected careers. The only positive this year is if its the same, controlling all 32 teams should get around this problem. Also, im hoping the depth chart has been changed even though I doubt it as it has been the same for the last ten years or so. I hate that there's a set amount of slots for every position when the slots should automatically match the amount of players at each position. In other words, if you have two QB's, there should be two slots, not three. And seeing players listed below from other positions drives me nuts too. Those two things need to be eliminated and player position requirements. There's no such thing period. If a team wanted to have 53 QB's on their roster, guess what, they can. Not that any team would actually do that but the point is that they could if they wanted to.

Bottom line...I'll be buying M25 for Xbox 360 and hope that its worth the purchase. If not, I'll just sell it on ebay or trade it in to best buy or Gamestop. The truly sad part is that it could go either way.
Madden 25 is for both next gen consoles. Only the xbox one will recieve madden ultimate team exclusive content.

As a Bears fan, I can`t buy the game with the Bears wearing orange pants. My God...how hard could it be to just simply go in and change the color???

Mike Young addressed this in the podcast last Friday. They were given a style guide by Nike during the development of Madden 13 and some changes to uniforms were made by Nike by the time the game was released. It's not like the devs said oh the Bears would look cool with orange pants, not the case, Nike gave them the style guide directly. This shouldn't be a issue for Madden 25.

Yes you guys can be skeptical but the idea that they are making minimal improvements to M25 current gen because they are focusing on next gen is at best laughable. 7 more days till you guys see for yourselves.

If Madden isnt announced/displayed for PS4, then im going to assume that the exclusive aspect is true.
Gamefaqs would be the last place I would look for gaming news.

Its not exclusive. It will be out on PS4. http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/05/...-coming-to-ps4

I think most people look at upgrades as new features not just improvements on current problems or things that were added back. For example, I cant remember for the life of me, but a Madden a few years ago said they added like over 50 features. Which was a huge stretch in my mind to what is a new feature. Plus you need to see how well some of this new stuff even work.

It would be like saying we added a post game show (new feature) vs. We fixed the commentary this year (upgrade/solving a problem)

I know they said they added new commentary that incorporates the season, but I have to see it working first.

Skeptism comes from being let down in the past. I know this is a new group, but we have had other new groupd who were supposed to lead us to the so called promised land of great football.

Thanks.

Did you include the CPU AI and gameplay questions? They didn't really come up in the podcast.

Thanks again.

Some sort of league history screen that has even something as simple as every SB winner (and score), the game MVP, and highlights it in yellow if it was a human player would be cool.

Something like:

Super Bowl Score MVP Player
SB L Bills 51 Cowboys 3 EJ Manuel MarkTwain77
SB LI Seahawks 21, Chiefs 10 Russell Wilson CPU

Something along those lines. When the human player is not involved in the Super Bowl in Madden 13, it can be hard to keep track of who won. Didn't Madden have something like this once?

# 97 MrSerendipity @ 06/03/13 03:20 PM
"SB L Bills 51 Cowboys 3"

Still a bit bitter over those Super Bowl losses?

# 98 jpdavis82 @ 06/03/13 03:42 PM
One thing people keep forgetting is the devs are working with limited space on current gen, that affects everything they are trying to do, gameplay, presentation, Ai, menus, everything. That's why I highly disagree with those who say they are giving us minimal improvements. They are giving us as much as they can with what they have to work with.

# 99 jpdavis82 @ 06/03/13 03:58 PM
Does anyone have an idea what Mike might have meant by new tickers? He said they have new tickers and stat banners. I'm hoping it's some kind of in game ticker for CFM, but that would be unlikely. What do you guys think he meant?

Seriously tired of this excuse. Madden for years has arguably had the worst AI, worst presentation, and worst play by play of any of the major sports titles out there who, btw are working with the same specs. Limited space has nothing to do with a CPU time out at 1:01 every game or the rest of the AI that has gone downhill the last three years.

Madden's problem isn't the convenient lack of space excuse. It's the constant turnover of the dev team and lack of direction or ability to stay the course.
