Madden NFL 25 News Post

VSN has posted a new podcast with Madden NFL 25 Creative Director, Michael Young. There are quite a few interesting presentation nuggets included, some of which we have listed below.
  • The Presentation playbook went away this year, but that doesn't mean the team hasn't been working hard on it.
  • Year 2 with Nance and Simms adds more depth in commentary, especially in career mode, more details on that at a later date.
  • Replays feel more human, varied and specific to the types of plays. Using real cameras, from the real locations in the stadiums (framing, timing, etc.)
  • New animated tickers, banners, feels more like a broadcast.
  • Added more team chants, first down and stadium sounds, since they went to many stadiums with Jim and Phil and grabbed live recordings.
  • More authentic tracks from various stadiums. Redone referee audio.
  • If you move your team, commentators will talk about that.
  • New sideline reporter has been added, will talk about that later.
  • Adam Schefter is still in the virtual news feed, breaking story lines, but he has also been added to the draft commentary.
  • When the draft is running, Trey Wingo is the host and Adam talks about the outlook and expectations of the player.
  • Brand new branching story lines for 30 draft classes and Adam made them sound authentic. Adam has been signed for a couple of years.
  • Can't place players on the PUP list. (Injured reserve IS STILL in the game) - Mike misunderstood the question in podcast.
  • Owners can't bid for Super Bowl hosting.
  • Overhauled Connected Franchise website, much more functional with tutorials.
  • Commissioner tools haven't been locked down, so they couldn't announce any of them.
  • Facial scans were made for most of last year's rookie class (roughly 20 didn't get in) All starting QB's and some QB's that could see some time.
  • Also ran facial scans for coaches, in total close to 100 facial scans made it in.
  • Players get scanned if they are available at events (for example the Pro Bowl) some simply don't want to. Basically EA gets what they can, when they can. It's not as easy as people may think it is.
  • They have tweaked the Zoom camera, didn't mention any other cameras.
  • The rumors are FALSE. There is no PC version of Madden NFL 25.
  • Head coaches, head trainers, head scouts and owners will be featured in story lines, not coordinators.
Remember, these were just some of the nuggets, make sure you listen to the entire podcast here.

But wasn't it complaining on this and other forums that led to such drastic changes a year ago?

I wish they'd let us have custom sounds like NCAA. Has there been any hint of that this year?

Actually, they've doubled the game play team from over a year ago.

And I'd like custom sounds too.

I just meant the changes to the actual game itself like the streamlining of the offline/online experience I thought that mostly came about from peoples complaints

I think they said the chant but just replaced hell with heck. I'm trying to find a m11 video of the chant.

I foresee the end of this thread soon if we don't get back on topic.

Sooo, what stadium specific songs, chants, or sound effects are you guys hoping to see? I am hoping they put the "Bang the Drum" song back in the game for when the Packers score a TD. That is a huge part of the Lambeau experience.
I'd like to see IN-COM-PLETE chant in Denver

Hehe. Probably been said but the OP image looks like they're being attacked by killer confetti.

Two solid presentation elements, custom stadium sounds and Bottomline ticker, not to mention showing the actual offensive personnel to the defense in the playcall screen, defensive lock cam and mass subs, in NCAA football but not Madden but I'm sure Tiburon has good reasons.

That said, I will avoid this thread at least until E3 and we know for sure what's been done because if I start posting what I hope will be in, it will likely only disappoint me later, leading me into some other pointless rant.
Wasn't their an interview (forgot who it was) floating around last year or the year before where they flat out said they would like to have custom sounds in the game? Still don't understand how almost every other sports game but madden out their has that feature. Imagine being able to put in the CBS theme into the intro, we may not have graphic overlays but the music would go along way.

One thing I would like to do that I think would improve the presentation tremendously and this isn't in-game, is to make the menus and loading screens not repetitive. First stop the auto playing video every single time you go to play online head-to-head! And make the loading screens not continuously keep advertising new features in a game that I already own and have played for months. I would love it if the loading screens maybe had controller button layouts (in depth too), a quick briefing of the game you're about to play or at least have more variety and linger on the same one long enough that you can read all of the text before it switches to the next screen.

I believe they had that at least two years ago. I am not 100% but I think the had it in 13 as well. Would have to check.

But I agree bring back stadium sounds and teams songs.

Madden's problem isn't the convenient lack of space excuse. It's the constant turnover of the dev team and lack of direction or ability to stay the course.
I co sign everything you just said. Particularly that 1:01 timeout thing frustrated me. How does something like that get left in a "completed" game?

In regards to presentation, replays should be the first thing addressed in my opinion. I never watched replays in 13 cause they were the worst replays I've ever seen in ANY sports game. Useless angles and all slow motion, often cutting out the part of the play I waited half a friggin minute to see.

There was so much talk about the stadium intros but it's one intro per team right? So whats the point of watching it more than once if you know exactly what you're getting the next game? I'd like to see a few versions of each intro so that it doesnt get stale so quickly.
I love in All pro football how they overlay the starting roster and commentators talk about the two best playmakers. I've watched nearly every one of em in my season and there are numerous commentary on my same two created players from game to game. In M13 I had to listen to the exact same one commentary bit about Ben Roethlisberger every game = no immersion.

To JP, I understand some of your optimism, but announcements on these types of additions always sound good but it's the lack of execution that leaves us cynical and pessimistic about the next installment. I truly think these devs try to add or do too much when they should just focus on the all the flaws of the previous games first that exist mostly in the gameplay and AI. But then again, these announcements is what would keep the PR/marketing teams happy as they veil the flaws and attract casual fans who seem to be the main target audience for this game.

Really we shouldn't be comparing this madden or last madden to other maddens because so many of them have been inadequate that asking for something quite fundamental can appear to be asking for too much within that context. We should hold the madden title up against other sport titles as many of those games like NBA2k etc seem to be progressing naturally with the evolution of this consoles tech/specs whereas this game is in a constant state of catch up. I really think they are doing a poor job of delegating their resources.

When I'm playing a football game made in 2007 that doesnt' have NFL rosters or even a franchise mode yet has amazing AI, better animations and presentation than our current and only NFL game something is terribly wrong with the aforementioned franchise. I think we've been patient enough and this criticism would seldom exist if this wasn't the only nfl title out there.

I agree with you about most of that but for the starting lineup overlays in m13, they do have different players they spotlight. For the Packers it can be jordy Nelson, Greg jennings, jermichael Finley, etc.. When Rodgers comes on the field they have different lines for him too but with it being year one of the commentary, yes it repeats. I'm hoping this year they will talk about a QBs performance last week when he takes the field, that would be a lot more immersive.

I hope you're right man, I really wanna see this title return to form.

Maybe with the sideline reporter now the injuries won't be a second thought and get so glossed over. So many times dudes get injured and I have to pause the game to see what happened. Also hate how they rush through them by bringing up the play call menu like they don't matter.

What year do they mean by they made facial scans for most of last year's rookie class? 2013 or 2012?

I'm pretty sure they mean this years. I noticed (and was honestly shocked) when I saw the video the other day of the guy who relocated the Jets to London and saw Geno Smith's face in the game.

Are Marshawn Lynch and Arian Foster's faces in the game or not?

Not sure about Marshawn's but I'm pretty sure Arian's is in. This is a shot of Foster and it looks like his face.

Spoiler

They absolutely screwed up Russell Wilson's face this year. They made him as dark as Geno Smith. What was EA drunk when they did Wilson's facial scan or what?
