I agree. I have fixed the K/9 problem with my edits. This game is the best sports sim ever made every year. However, if the devs really played this game they would see these problems initially and we would not have to wait for patches to play this game in a franchise mode, etc.
That is my opinion. Maybe I am wrong, but I have learned through experience that the game is hyped by CD and others and then we have these major issues that have no business being as prevalent as they are.
We know this will happen every year. Not that we do not have a right to complain and voice our opinions, but we should not be surprised by the flaws that they ship this game with seemingly every year.
You should understand that it's literally impossible to create software of this magnitude without any bugs or glitches... there are simply too many moving parts and complexities that multiple people need to work together to solve.
I never thought I (or other CD people) was actually hyping the game when I was writing my impressions, though there was really no reason to mention out in public all the issues that were worked on during the event .... after all, SCEA was still working to solve them, right... so some problems we saw at the event, we don't see in the released product. And there are issues in the product that we never saw in the event, so on and so forth....
... it is just the nature of software development.... when tens of thousands of people start playing at once, issues surface more easily. But SCEA cannot hire tens of thousands of people to test the product before the release.
For a gaming title that's expected to be rushed out every year (yes, it is always rushed out), bugs and glitches are unfortunately part of the business. If we consumers cannot or do not want to deal with it, then we should live with longer release cycle (game release every other year, for example) and/or less changes for a new game every year. I actually wish the game goes on a longer release cycle, like every other year, so that we get to play stuff with less issues and game balance more fully worked out.
Playing on All Star hitting and pitching. I am in the playoffs with the Nationals and so far this is what happened:
NLDS vs Giants:
W: 3-1
w: 6-1
W: 9-7 (Walk-off Homerun from Zimmerman to win the series. Was awesome)
NLCS vs. Reds:
W: 9-8 (13 innings - more below)
W: 3-1
L: 0 -3
W: 4-3
*Game one of the NLCS was the best game I have ever played.
I took a 1-0 lead in the 1st on an RBI single or something routine like that. In the 5th, I spread the lead to 5-0 when Choo dropped a bases loaded fly ball that cleared the bases, and then an RBI single.
I was cruising until the 8th, when, with a 5-0 lead, I brought in Phil Hughes (who I acquired mid-season via trade) and promptly gave up 2 sharp singles, an infield single, and a grand slam. 5-4. Next batter was Jay Bruce who tied it up with a solo home run to make it 5-5.
Fast forward to the top of the 13th, I hit a 3-run home run with Adam Larroche, and followed it up with a 448 ft HR (my longest yet) with J.P. Arencibia (another trade-deadline move). 9-5 Nats. Game over, right? Wrong.
I absolutely spent my bullpen over the previous 4 innings and had to bring in Dan Haren to pitch the bottom half of the 13th. Well, he gave up a couple of hits immediately, and then I walked a guy to load the bases. Then Joey Votto hits a ball to dead CF and my 20-year old prospect Bill Reaves (who i called up despite him being rated a 56 and hit .321 down the stretch) robbed him of a home-run. The first time I have ever successfully done it in The Show 13. Run scores, 9-6.
Next pitch is a wild pitch and the runner on 1st moves up and the next guy singles. 9-8.
I brought in Gio Gonzalez (supposed to be my game 2 starter) to a bases-loaded, nobody out situation in the bottom of the 13th. Tying run on 3rd. Winning run on 2nd.
Pop-up. one out.
Next batter strikes out. 2 out.
Next batter grounds weakly to 2nd. Game over. 9-8 win. Exciting.
Just had my 1st freeze...too bad because it was a great game. It froze in the top of the 9th in a 5-5 tie where my young C hit a 3 run HR to to tie the game in the 8th. I really hate losing my stats in a game. That's why I think all sports games should have auto save after big events like shooters do at checkpoints. Oh well it was just a ST game but still hate losing it and playing it for nothing. Guess I will save often now even if it is a hassle to save and then have to reload the game.

Is this really how you interpreted our impressions, or are you just frustrated?
It would have been useless for us to detail the bugs that we caught at CD, just as it would have been useless for SCEA to give us patch details on the release day update.
And re-read my posts. Everything I shared (and not ALL were positive posts or just in the Impressions Thread either) I still believe to be true now. This game is exceptional. The greatest game I have ever played. But it does have it's flaws, which is to be expected.
But calling us or the team out is really pretty unfair.
Joe Giradi is my 3rd base coach for my RttS team. No big deal right? I play for the Red Sox....Didn't realize fired coaches can become coaches other than the manager...
I was not bashing anyone. I appreciate SCEA and those who participate in CD. For example, it took 3 years of me begging Ramone to fix the RISP bug; this year it was fixed. In my opinion, if the guys really played the game, how could they miss those glaring bugs?
I don't care if they play the game or not because it is their job to make the game so they may want to distance themselves from the game after it is done.
I agree that MLB 13 is the best sports game ever made and MLB 14 should follow in that similar path. I only own two games: MLB 13 for PS-3 and Vita. When I get a PS-4, I will only own two games. Can you guess which ones?
My point is that I do not understand how the K/9 could be so badly broken? There are just a lot of bugs every year. Maybe that is normal. Sorry if my comment bothered anyone in a negative way.
Thanks.
Did we?
You're assuming a lot.
Kind of late to be saying ...."sorry" now that you've already put it out there....

Loving the game otherwise though!
I had a no hitter in the eighth with one out and the game froze. I was so disgusted you have no idea. I decided to try switching TV inputs, went from game to TV and waited about 40 seconds or so. When I went back to the game, I was able to pitch!
I remember last year the same thing happened and I did the TV input switch and it worked, and that's why I tried it again. Maybe it's a sign that I need to do the rebuild data process?
Anyway, I took the no hitter into the ninth and with one out, I gave up a heartbreaking single It would have been a combined no hitter if successful. He hit a fastball low in his cold zone that he managed to pull past my third baseman. This was in spring training, a major letdown as I really wanted that trophy.
I realise this may sound strange, but this game has become TOO realistic. In a recent game as the Giants, Pablo Sandoval actually didn't fit on my TV screen during his first at bat, then standing on third base i could see he was eating a piece of cheese which caused him to misfield a line drive. I'm all for realism, but this is going to the extreme.
Just know before reading, I am a big "presentation" guy..so I was really excited about MLB13 and the improved crowd, especially in the postseason.
Is anyone else finding it a little...rough around the edges maybe? Especially for regular season games. I appreciate the crowds being more excited, but you just do not hear a constant cheering crowd through every inning of a baseball game as you do in MLB13. In a real game it's mostly chatter, vendors, brief applause for intoductions and cheers and chants throughout.
What I am hearing takes me out of the game quite a bit...does not seem matched up with what is going on. I am especially annoyed with the CONSTANT whistling! Is anyone else hearing this? It does not stop for an entire 9 inning game...to the point that my gf sitting next to me thought there was something wrong with the TV. (any hints on how to diminish this, because its really hard for me to get through a game with it and now I have the commentary AND the crowd turned all the way down to play a game...perhaps an audio adjustment on the TV or something?
[rant]my RttS won RotY, MVP, etc. gets hurt the last few weeks in spring. Comes back 4th game of season...naturally, he's relegated the bench and is no longer a starter. Yea, that totally makes sense....[/rant]
I'm loving the game like never before. Beginner Mode is for me a very significant addition. I see it as being helpful to more than just those new to the game, such as in my case, being 70 years old. The only thing I would like changed is an option to have it called Senior Mode
Last year I was trying lots of things, including lowering pitch speed to 0 and 1, but this year, I have it at default 5 and I'm doing okay!
This is the first year I've only bought one baseball game.
Keep those meatball pitches coming! Ah, spring training has been fun, but I expect things to get tougher once the regular season starts.
The other extremely significant change this year is downloading the full game. I used to have optical drive problems using the disc, got so bad I had to give up on the game, so this year I am very happy!
Unfortunately, changing this would increase the patch by more than we would like to make consumers endure. We will address for MLB 14.
Some of those stadiums have had issues for years, so why are they acting like it was only first noticed in MLB13...
And don't get how it'll make the patch too big. Isn't typical patch only like 200mb....and that's with huge gameplay changes made, I'd think that changing minor things in a stadium wouldn't be that much.....
But I guess this also means that we will only have a single patch for the entire year, cause if not, then they should have been able to fit enough stuff into multiple patches instead of just only including a handful of things in a single patch

It is likely that after changing a minor detail in a stadium, you may need to download the whole stadium model again... that's probably what the dev is alluding to. I don't wish to see a patch being > a few GBs just fixing cosmetic details.
..... in fact, many patches work that way, you are essentially downloading the whole pre-compiled binary file for the game, not just a portion of it... in that sense "patch" is a misnomer.
Downloading game data is a different issue, but if a fix is needed in one file, it most likely takes downloading the whole data file again.
