Made it to the All Star break in my fool around Fantasy Season (as I wait to use my Braves when Knights rosters drop)

Anyway, Paul Konerko steals on me!!! 13 speed with a 1 baserunning ability. Yes, I said 1

He must have figured I wasn't expecting it, because, well... I wasn't!

So pissed because the very next ground ball would have been a double play. Instead, he was pushed to 3rd and then scored on a sac fly.

BTW, this game is just astonishing

Yeah, Konerko stole a base in 2011, and has around 9 stolen bases in his career, so you weren't the only one fooled

Best gaming experience ever, playing the all star game.

Bottom of the 13th and I give up a walk off Double to lose 3-2.

Having played about 35-40 games of the first half (simulating the others) I saw so many fielding blunders, which I loved.

The all star game reminded me of just how brilliant this iteration of The Show really is, because it was laced with one defensive gem after another.

It was a gold glove highlight reel. Reyes robbed me at least twice. Coco Crisp robbed me on an amazing diving catch that saved a double, if not a triple.

Molina gunned my first 3 steal attempts, after which I never tried again. And, he got to 2 foul pops that I hadn't seen any catcher get to during the entire first half of the season.

The beautifully played defense was something to behold.

This game is BANANAS!

I'm really starting to think the CD guys were purposely holding back, deliberately NOT revealing too much so we could enjoy the freshness/brilliance of the game for ourselves.

Yes, I woke up thinking about the game I played right before I went to bed.

Playing against the Orioles with Dylan Bundy pitching, I was surprised his name wasn't announced, just referred to by his jersey number. Shelby Miller's name is announced, so not hearing the highest rated pitching prospect's name was a real disappointment.

I should have said when he was batting they used his jersey number. Since his audio is in the game, very strange they didn't when he was at bat. The game was in spring training.

He was on MLB network radio a month or so ago and Casey Stern was trying to get him to handicap his sb total this year for fantasy purposes. He gave him an over under of 1.5, Konerko said over, that he'd steal exactly two bags this year, lol.

You never know, he might just do that, especially against you! J/K Nah, I think you're hip to him now.

I got to say....I have been playing this game a lot of course testing out everything. So I have had a nice opportunity to just really dig into the gameplay and all the nice little touches they have fine tuned.

What jumps right out at you is the vastly and I mean really big time improved Ball Physics 2.0. I mean really guys? The ball and they way it comes of the bat, field, wall etc is the most life like baseball video game experience ever for me personally. So for anyone that thinks this is a roster update.....your don't play this game enough. Because if your a hardcore Show player it is so obvious what they have done this year. It happened on my first at bat with Derrick Jeter. I hit a looping single that sailed (rising) right over the second basemen's head.

It was a thing of beauty.

The flight of the ball this year looks, and feels so natural and organic. I really can't believe it. I am in heaven just from this one thing alone. Because quite frankly the only thing gameplay wise missing from 12 was this. The evolution of how the ball bounces, rolls and looks and feels when hit. It was a nice step on 12 but the flaw was evident with too many ground rule doubles, too many hard hit screamers caught for outs by ungodly and perfectly positioned OF's. Sliders helped alleviate this but it still would rear itself.

13? My goodness we have the most true to life ball physics ever for any sports game in history.

Fielding animations are sick. Last season I saw too many balls booted when hit in the hole or almost out of reach by all-star, gold glove caliber players. This year player ratings matter more than ever. Cano makes great plays, but a scrub journeyman boots balls.

The new OSD's are on point, and awesome. The new scoreboard bug is fantastic.

Lyons is a major breath of fresh air.

Franchise has some fantastic new features with a much more intuitive interface, scouting and player training. Better budget logic. Just better.

True Broadcast is even better this year. They brought back batter routines. Thank you!

Playoff mode.....rocks!!!!!! Atmosphere is totally there.

RTTS is very cool and feels fresh this year.

Ok so what don't I like. To be honest the only thing that I am not thrilled about is the warm up pitch music. While it is actually authentic to what is going on in ballparks around the league today....I miss my traditional organ music as I warm up my guys. It was relaxing, and very cool. It is the old school in me here complaining.

The Show 13 is a masterpiece. It really is a joy to play, and just keeps getting better and better every game. So many little things that just make you giddy as a die hard baseball fan.

OSFM is around the corner, some great classic rosters are in progress (1984,1987, 2001 OS All Time)

What more can you ask for?

This is my game till I get a PS4 in a couple of years.

SCEA thank you again for putting a ton of heart and soul into this game. You truly are on the same page with hardcore baseball fans.

Sold!

I was going to wait a bit on buying 13, but after working over 80 hours on the road last week, I need a pick-me-up.

Great write-up, A&S

Is something wrong with dropped third strikes? I've seen it happen with runners on first and second and less than two outs. Pretty sure it's not supposed to happen in those situations.

Does he happened to be hunched over while running and reaching at the time? If so...

It's my arch nemesis! I had a few debates at CD on that one.

Am I the only one a little grossed out by all the sweat on the ballcaps this year?

I thought the sweat used to appear as the game went on or am I imagining it? Nobody should be sweating in the first inning in Minnesota in April

Really enjoying this game on near default this year as I just slowed down the outfielders a bit as SCEA has created the near perfect baseball game this year !
I even broke Halladays Finger on a high and tight bunt attempt and he was replaced , too cool

Loving the game, no desire to even go back to 12 and finish my franchise. Ball physics are spot on, especially with TNK's slider set. You get line drives, ground balls with eyes and dying quails, and of course the long ball!

No same here!
This was also in 12.
Hoped they'd fix it for 13 but I guess not...

I have to say again how much more I love the offseason and budgets. You cannot just go through and sign anyone anymore. Some real thought is required and some tough decisions. I have found I have tightened up future budgets by setting contracts to manual and simming the first few days of exclusive period and having more free agents hit the market. I think players are taking too big a discount to stay during the exclusive period.

I really don't mind the wetness. But it seems to happen to all (on the field, at least. I haven't checked the bullpens or dugouts) players all game long. From first pitch to close.

I know it's minor and I am half joking, but playing in HD it's pretty noticable. LOL! Last night, I was like, "Ewwww."

Thanks HV.
So wait, was your play ruled an error or a hit? I think we are talking about two different things now that you went into further detail.

My nemesis play is the one where the infielder is moving laterally, reaches over to the groundball while running at a pretty good speed and bobbles it.

This is one that I'd love to see ruled an error.

It doesn't happen too often this year thanks to the new ball physics, but it's still there. I guess it really comes down to your point of view on the scorekeeping aspect, though.

I agree it's not cut and dry and I am not pretending to mean my opinion is the correct opinion. It's just my take that this play is not a basehit.

I'm really enjoying the improved catcher play on pitches in the dirt. Not only do they look good from the pitcher view, but play into strategy as well. I'm not as reluctant to bury a breaking ball when ahead in the count, and some of the bounces after the block create some interesting baserunning situations in head-to-head games.

Next up... pitch framing animations.

What slider set and other adjustments have you made? I agree with most of what you said. There are a few irritations left though. The CPU still pulls pitchers on its own and will sometimes do the same with position players. This is not nearly as bad as in 12 but still aggravating. Sometimes the game will not let you bring in relief pitchers who are warm. You're only option is to sit him down. I have found a way to SOMETIMES fool the CPU but I shouldn't have to do it at all. The scouting interface is very confusing to me when trying to assign scouting in different regions. I have pretty much given up on it. There are a lot more half swing bloopers in the infield and balls still occasionally bounce of of the pitcher and across the diamond - the ball is then thrown to first and the pitcher is still good as new. The resetting issues with defensive positioning are there as well. By the way, I am a franchise, manager only guy.

None of this will drive me back to MLB 12. I am hoping that the patches will fix some of this.

doc;

When are you getting the CPU making substitutions for you?
I haven't had that happen at all...

As far as scouting...yes...it's a little counter intuitive IMO as far as the interface. But the actual scouting and assignments.....it's pretty easy.
Stick with it....it's worth it.
