Is it just me or do they get a lot of offensive boards? It feels I have to perfectly box out and jump at the right time to have a shot of getting it and my other teammates just stand there

I'm just glad I can do simple crossover. I will have to get use to the controls, but love the idea. Also like the passing. I appreciate that if the pass isn't there, the ball won't go but sometimes it kills the flow of the game if you don't use the advance passing. You have more control but at times its too stiff. I've played the demo like 4 times, but that's it. I'm still into football right now but I will get 2k13.

I got to play the demo last night for a couple of hours. I love everything about the demo except the controls. The contact is very realistic. I love all the animations. I even saw Bosh get run over by Ibaka and Bosh fell into wade, then wade fell also. It was like a domino or bowling pin situation. It looked so real. It was a Wow moment for sure. There was a lot of those moments in my time playing.

However, the controls don't make sense the me. One of the reasons "the other game" didn't appeal to me was because of the right stick dribbling. I became a fan of the shot stick. I think 2k should of kept the shot stick the way it was and used L1 or R1 for dribble moves on the right stick as default. Then have L2/modifier for the shots on the shot stick and came up with another way to call plays. I hope the alt controls are similar to what I mentioned. LOL.

The controls will be an "acquired taste" for me, but the control stick just doesn't make sense. Hopefully I can get used to it sooner than later. Overall 2k13's demo is great and is the most realistic looking bball game I've ever played.

Man! 2K13 is going to SHUT IT DOWN this year!
Of course its not perfect but, its far better than 2k12... FAR BETTER.

Bravo 2K, Bravo

I'm liking the way that in online matches, if your PG is trailing your opponent's PG, then your team will help instead of watching him make an uncontested layup. I'm also liking the closing out animation triggered by using the right stick on defence, and the crowding out animation as well, where the ball handler has to pivot around to find room to either pass or drive. I ALSO like the fact that your player will blow a dunk in situations which called for an aggressive layup instead. Hopefully online players will learn from this and we will have a more realistic version of basketball online.

However, the post fake and step through is still not fixed. IRL, if someone makes a post move and shot fakes and his defender doesn't fall for it, the ball handler has NOWHERE to go and MUST either give it up or shoot a CONTESTED fadeaway. He cannot step through and have an easy lay-in as if his defender didn't exist. Why then does this happen in 2K? Why does the defender slide backwards after doing all the hard work to unfairly reward the ball handler?
Also, continuation is STILL broken. If the player is FOULED before he takes a shot, then that shot does NOT count and he does NOT get free throws. It's nice to see that this fundamental basketball concept occurs sometimes (unlike 2K12), but there are still times when continuation is called when the circumstances DO NOT call for that call to made.

Hey I'm a well rounded player, it's just a demo and I was trying to see what the crossovers and dunks animations were like - it's not like I'm going to break ankles for 42 minutes. It's just that mapping the dribbling to the RS is more fluid and I feel like what I input and want the player to do actually works compared to previous 2k games.

I'm as sim as they come.

because of the confusion i popped in 2k12 to better explain myself. where are the player-specific size up moves?

from 2k12:

Sizeup - from a stand dribble hold LT then move LS toward basket

Sizeup Cross - from a stand dribble hold LT then move LS from ballhand towards non-ballhand

Sizeup Inside Out - from a stand dribble hold LT then move LS toward players ballhand

Sizeup Escape - from a stand dribble hold LT then move LS away from basket

where are these moves and also how do you execute them?

also almost every player had a set of 4 sizeup moves that were unique to them so Kobe's 4 sizeups were different from LBJ's or Durant's or D-Rose's. where are these moves at

in the demo if tapping the RS back 2x is the Sizeup Escape etc. then all the PG/SG/SFs all have the exact same moves and all the PF/Cs have the same moves.

hope this makes my question more clear.

You can switch controls in the retail version to have it the way you described you wanted it...

I already explained that to you, please read the controls thread. All the standing moves are done with a tap or double tap of the RS. You just have to play with it until you see which direction does what.

# 952 Optik @ 09/26/12 02:49 PM
Uggh...they really should have just put in the instrumental for "We Made Ya" or just completely omitted Kanye's verse. He raps less words than are bleeped out. Absolutely ridiculous.

On the graphics, I have to agree with who ever said it first. Kevin Durant looks like Winnie the Pooh. He has the skin complexion of a squirrel and so does Eric Maynor. Maynor in particular looks like he belongs in a cartoon or an anime.

I actually like the change in controls. Everything feels more natural to me, and dribbling isn't the pain it used to be. Memorizing all those ridiculous combinations was... well... ridiculous, and practically impossible unless you had a LOT of free time. This year it feels more intuitive. And like Pared alluded to, difficulty is a big factor here...

Although I found 2k12's All-Star difficulty to be more "arcadish" than whatever difficulty the demo is on, so clearly I'm in the minority either way.

The demo just feels more like basketball to me.

ok if those are the moves then i got it and thank you for helping me figure out how to execute them, but now im past that and am asking did 2k take away the player specific sizeup moves because in 2k12 everyone had different moves when the same input was executed.

however in the demo everyone does the same animations, thus no player-specific size up moves.

so my new question is have player-specific sizeup moves been removed?

# 955 Optik @ 09/26/12 02:56 PM
Glad I haven't see any of those stupid 2 player dunk animations, YET. Blocking isn't laggy like last year.

I love the new controls. It is really a hard choice you have to make when playing with the Thunder because Westbrook can just dominate and KD is just so freaking lethal. I find myself playing like Westbrook just driving and jacking pull ups.

Things just come so easy for me when I'm using Westbrook. Rio can't stop him. And when KD calls for the ball at the 3pt line I just pass and he hits the shot everytime. The Thunder finally play like the Thunder.

Is it just me or is Thabo slower than Ibaka?
